Chipmunk2307
This is just purely an opinion piece, so treat it as such. Don't get too excited and please offer a reasonable and well thought out counter argument. thank you.... With the recent "I'll Gotten Gains" updates to GTA, Rockstar have offered us litterally golden opportunities to spend cash like we are mafia barrons. But is this their measure to reclaim their own failings? Grand Theft Auto V is without a doubt a complex game and ecosystem that offers much. But the fundamental problems with it and for Rockstar began when the underlying encryption systems for PS3 and XBOX 360 were cracked. This allowed thousands, if not more, people to tunnel into features of the game and manipulate it to their advantages. With the transition to the New Generation gaming platforms, there were still many vulnerabilities to the game that were left uncheckedand were subsequently expolited. For example: "Rusty Rebels and the Sad Trombone Glitch" and of course the "Car Duplication Glitch" that allowed many people to duplicate cars such as he Elegy and then resell them and make a lot of money. As an IT professional, I would view this as poor product development and dismal quality control. But in looking at the obverse of the coin, I believe Rockstar's mentality was "get the product out there!" and was that a wise decision? Which brings us to the current conundrum: Rockstar are delivering new content but at prices which challenege a LOT of players. For those who actually cheated and those who took advantage of the holes in the software (of which there are many) they have money for this. But the prices of the new items that Rockstar are being unquestionably unreasonable for many. I deplore those who activly engage to find absolute cheats and hacks to games. But if someone discovers a failure on the part of the developers should they be punished? Let me put it this way: If you went to an ATM and someone told you a code to punch in that would allow you to withdrawl more money as opposed to an ATM that dispensed more money than you selected: which one would you choose? And that is the same question we face in this game.I personally believe because of the latter (with a some input the former) that Rockstar have released the most current releases (I'll Gotten Gains I & II) has been brought about to recover "excess" cash within the game that they are entirely responsible for. They should have employed more people to look for actual cheaters and hackers and banned persons AND fixed their code. But why did they not?The I'll Gotten Gains updates are now with us and are costing millions...... coincidence?

EKGene
Nice text wall... but, I did take the time to read, even with an actual vision impairment. So, I'm just going to address a few of the points you've made, in no particular order. So, give me some room here. You make mention of "poor product development and dismal quality control," and how Rockstar essentially rushed the game's release. While I agree that more time should have been invested in addressing issues, they did their math, made their projections, and ultimately, thought it beneficial to release the game at that time. The initial sales numbers were absurd, breaking and setting sales records and such. So, in that sense, it was prudent to release the game at that time, in the condition that it was. But, it is clear and evident that Rockstar is behind in product support. I'll cut this shorter than initially intended, as I have to go download the IGG2 Update like the sheep that I am. What I can say is that outsourced testers do not play the game like we do. They play the game the way the developers want them to. This actually grows the problem. And, I don't believe that the inflated prices for the newer items is a means to recoup "ill-gotten" monies. They have a formula over there at Rockstar, and maximizing the potential for Shark Card sales is part of the equation. The average user is presented with this dilemma: grind missions for hours on end, or simply spend what seems like a nominal amount for instant rewards. We Are Ninja
Not at all. Missions pay out 10 to 20 times what they used to. And then there are heists. You can make several mil grinding heists for a day. IGG is the first time in a long time that I had to actually play the game to afford stuff. Up until that point, I simply bought everything they released that I wanted with money I made from doing missions and jobs for fun. No glitching here. I'll never understand why people are so hurt that they have to play the game to unlock stuff... Chipmunk2307 and Defender1904

My point is that since you apparently did all the forbidden stuff that has provoked this mass punishment (IYO), I fail to see the point of you bitching about it since you obviously aren't effected due to your excessive funds. I'm trying to understand what you deem as acceptable for quality control and product development. Have you ever developed software or worked for a game development company? GTA is one of the very few products that is not rushed to market, and when GTA V was released, it was based on an extensive amount of market research. That research in tandem with a handful proposed deadlines determined whether or not the game was ripe enough for release. Everything but the Online portion was practically perfect, but to be fair, Rockstar has never scaled a project like GTA Online before. In a sense, we've all been beta testers of the Online portion. Cracka.Brew
Gold jet, cant let friends smoke and drink in it, and it costs 10 million dollars, but it costs $100 real dollars to buy 8 million dollars. And so you are still 2 million short, REALLY, THIS POS IS VALLUED AT OVER $100 REAL DOLLARS? MadHaTT3R

I've read previously between 30 - 60 million annually on shark cards alone. Well that's the golden question then. How much cash do they make from Shark Cards? THIS is the problem with R* and countless other games. These developers are putting values on things, that even in game reality is preposterous!! As pointed out, the Gold plane is valued at 130 Dollars REAL money!! The plane is in the companies eyes, worth more than the game itself!! Outfits for 40+k?!! Paper bag masks are 2-4 thousand!!! Seriously wtf!! Anyone who see's it from an economics viewpoint, cant help but see just how NOT free this crap is!! I play the game, just to play the game now. I dont buy anything, cause its just not worth it anymore. Hell you HAVE TO cheat, just to keep up.
