Setzaroth
I've always wondered how many people actually buy shark cards. Based on what we've seen R* do to the game, the answer can either be "A lot" or "hardly any" I personally can't fathom spending more money on a game that already cost you at least $60 but hey, maybe that's just me. I have a couple friends who buy shark cards, and they justify it by saying "Well I don't have time to play but I want everything" or.. "This is really the only game I play right now, so my gaming budget goes into GTA"Back in my day games didn't have monetized short cuts... but ok....it's their money I suppose.I guess my issue is, the fact that people do buy these, is the reason the game is SO GRINDY, and offers little in the way of fun replayability. This is the first open world game that feels like a chore. A real chore. Sure, every game with leveling, and unlock elements has some "grind" to it, but it's at least enjoyable on some level. GTAV online strips almost all of that way, to the extent of even removing missions altogether, and punishing you for finishing the few relevant missions they choose to leave in, by slicing the payout into nearly half if you finish in under 16 minutes. What a joke.Anyway, I guess the point of this post is to say, if you buy shark cards, fine...but don't complain about the game being the way it is, because it's your fault. Kaiju Blue
I love the game, and I purchase shark cards every now and then. So, everything's good on my end. LL Cool L and DrunkGamer
Wybo76
I do not buy them. I make around 100k-250k a day. Once per week i can buy/mod a car totally. That's ok for me. Now i want to buy and tune the Osiris. it will take more time, but i like it this way. If the prices were more cheap (I understand people like that) it would go way to fast for me. I think i would abbandon the game much faster. Now i have so much to do before i have everything i want DrunkGamer and Overmenneske
Timcatgt5
I don't buy shark cards and I never will, because I wouldn't feel motivated to play the game or make money the easy way. I usually aim to earn 200k per day, which is about 7-8 million each month, a reasonable amount of money for anything I wish to spend, such as vehicles, clothes, downloadable content and other things. I'd rather grind the game for money to achieve whatever I want. This is how people learn to actually progress through the game, by working very hard you are rewarded for your patience. Wybo76
Forgive me my ignorance, but what is downloadable content? You mean the temporary stuff? Or is there a part of GTA O i don't know after all this time?
Big_Show
I did in the early days, don't think i'll ever buy one now though
Setzaroth
"Downloadable content" refers to extra things that are not included with the initial game. This is a term that is widely used in gaming today, and for the forseeable future.
DrunkGamer
I took the easy way out on last gen by buying the 100 dollar shark card, the 3 to 5 bucks shark card and doing the adder glitch, but I stopped at 25 mill and started to grind from there, sure I did a few more glitches like race betting glitch and sad trombone glitch but I've made more money doing heists, completing daily objectives and just doing regular missions, I'm up to 56 million just from grinding and my total amount of cash is 95 million dollars and I've never bought another shark card since last year when I bought the 100$ shark card and more cheaper ones as mentioned above. LL Cool L
I have bought about 4-5 shark cards in my gta lifetime even tho I play alot and can make money easily, I work and have a life outside of gta so every now and again I just wanna get some stuff without playing for hours besides this may be my all time favourite game and I'm happy to support and keep DLC/updates free for all whenever I buy one I pretend my character won some money on scratch card (I like to immerse myself like that, much more fun) short answer yes lol

LL Cool L
------------ I would also like to add that comparing prices in game to real life is a mistake a lot of players make when complaining about items being "expensive" in this world R* decide the prices of items I guess depending on research, popularity, necessity, power, speed, brand (depending on the item etc) people blur the lines between real life and gta too much and fail to remember that just because there is a dollar sign does not make it real money, its game money, equal to coins, rupees, sonic rings, stars or whatever, so the prices are just fine, its like saying the gold luxor costs 10million rupees if the money was likened to real life then a $10 shark card would give you $10 in game.... you feel me? Slam_Jones
To be honest, I've bought in-game money before, but I just don't feel the need to do it in GTA. It's easy to grind money, and occasionally if you leave your char idle in a server, some kindly modder will swing by and drop a couple mil on your head. Well, it's only happened to me twice, but that's better than nothing. If I were rolling in cash, sure, I might buy one here and there, but right now I'm saving up for PC upgrades. Priorities 'n all. DentureDynamite
Who needs to buy shark cards when you get forcibly showered with money bags from script kiddies? Or has the naming and laughable prices of content in these two-part "Ill-Gotten Gains" updates eluded everyone but me? Setzaroth
Oh, forgot about PC. That shouldn't surprise you since it's PC. Though I doubt most that play on PC are "kids" then again... I could be wrong. On PS3 this happened to a few people, but they used the "send" feature. I have been playing since 2013 and this has never happened to me
tranceking26
I'm glad somebody asked about shark cards because I was going to do a poll on this. I'm tempted to buy one because I play solo on PS3 to avoid idiots and hackers, by doing this it's not likely I can grind heists like others do, nobody I know has both a PS3 and V for it. markyhitch
I bought a shark card right at the beginning when money was hard to come by. Now that I've a few million, I won't be. And the whole extra payout for taking one's time works in my favour because I do missions solo, plodding along, killing all enemies. The thought of grinding the same job over and over doesn't appeal to me. I do that in real life ffs.
Rykjeklut
Once or twice when I just didn't feel like grinding, and none of my friends were playing.
The Lone Wanderer
f*ck no, I would pay £20 for infinite ingame money maximum, given that modders do that anyway and the value of them is sh*t.
My Name Is Karen
Shark cards are bullsh*t. Im not rich enough to give a rich ass company who has employees wipe their ass with $100 bills, more money. Im not giving them more than the $60 i paid for the game, hell to the no. Fathead4A
I bought a couple shark cards a long, long time ago. I'm embarrassed about it. I will never do that again.
Eckymcmann
Yes, sadly. With one toddler, another on the way in a few days, long hours and time with my young family, there isn't a great deal of room for gaming. Even then it's not always GTA (FIFA pro clubs). I don't have the luxury of sitting grinding out cash for hours and hours. When I do get on, I want to have a laugh. So I have bought a few. Nah nah nah Gta 6
Very rarely, I've bought about 4 shark cards in my GTA career, most expensive one I've bought was the 1 million one.
zoso80
No. Never bought one. My early days of GTA was lots of grinding. Nowadays, I am very financially secure and can buy and do pretty much whatever I want. There were alternate revenue streams available back in last gen days if you wanted to take your own financial future by the horns, lol. Hell, even PS4 has had some good ones so far. Shark cards are bullsh*t. Im not rich enough to give a rich ass company who has employees wipe their ass with $100 bills, more money. Im not giving them more than the $60 i paid for the game, hell to the no. I kind of feel you. The smart thing you can do is NOT buy into the economy R* tries to force upon you and use other ways to generate funds. I'm not against them making money, but I don't like the side issues that leads to content creation that serves cash cards and doesn't advance the game, instead focusing on reskinned cars, guns and clothes.. You are right that comparing prices to real life is red herring. However. I look at the disparity between single player and online prices for example in the Pay N Spray, it becomes obvious there is an inflation at work to keep you hustling. Chrome rims 80k? Then there is that whole little nasty issue in that the content that is created doesn't really add to the game (short of heists or the odd additional mission), it more serves the economic system and promotion of shark cards. MCMXCII
I have yet to buy one nor do I feel like I need to. In the beginning of GTAO, I came close to buying one several times because back then, money wasn't that easy to get and you had to work a lot harder to get a lot of money. Nowadays, I feel like noone needs to if you have the amount of time that I have. I do several missions and heists a day and I make a pretty good amount of money pretty quickly. Although I haven't been able to keep most of what I earned because I end up spending it on a car like what I did with the T20 and of course on the Hydra. But hey, I worked on making the money that I needed to buy those things and I enjoyed doing it too! It feels more rewarding if I work on making the money to buy something that I want instead of going out to buy money. Wybo76
It's a bit like trading races. I did not like that, i wanted to win them in real. It cost a lot of time, but i think it is rewarding for me. But what other people do is their decission, so if someone wants help... sure they can. I think i lost around 150 races because of them. If they like it, sure why not Same with sharkcards, i do not want them, i work for my money (or rob a bank, but hey that is my job ) but if people want to buy them. I do not say that they shouldn't. It is a free world, if that is how they like the game the most... why not. Not my damn bussiness.
FrugalDangerMan
I buy shark cards on occasion because I like to have fun, not grind missions. I also eat ice cream for dinner if I want. Being an adult is awesome.
