This is probably going to sound quite dimissive, but... so what?

I played Watch_Dogs, having waited a good couple of years for it and that game was filled with sh*t I didn't want from it. It barely delivered on any level for me.

And I have never, once, ever, gone on to a Watch_Dogs forum and whined about it. It just didn't meet any of my expectations, I moved on and forgot about it.

The Cops in WD are definitely worse than the ones in V, the Cops somehow know you are in a certain alleyway.

One thing I liked about WD's Cops though is, if you leave your vehicle behind. The Cops will focus their attention on the car, so it has little details but is still annoying as hell.

If you can't escape the cops then you're not playing the game right.

Yep.

Well this isn't about escaping, it's the shoot-outs. Edited by SuperGTFan

Except the cops in V were like the only thing the fans didn't want from developers.

Seriously, what is it about GTA that makes the fans so achey around the arse?

The lack of fun during shoot-outs with the police. You can't stay in your place more than very few minutes before being swiftly eliminated.

That's the good thing! You can't just stand still mindlessly wiping out wave after wave of cops because it's no longer a ground based Space Invaders.

The fact that you could stand around in one place and kill hundreds of cops in previous games is, to me, a sign of the weakness of previous GTA cops. They are, in my opinion, vastly superior now that you have to put in a bit of effort to evade and elude them.

Signatures are dumb anyway.

I guess the Health System is what should have been fixed instead.

You can do the same thing in V, if not easier. The fact that you have health regeneration and the ability to carry every single weapon in the game at once, let's you endlessly survive since you have regen and tons and tons of ammo and explosive firepower (and if you're playing as Trevor, his rage ability)

Only if you used interiors. Which obviously werent designed for Combat encounters in V

The cops in future GTA games will sure be corrupted aswell, but i hope they'll behave less angrier.

You don't need to be in an interior really. I've seen a video of someone standing in one spot (entrance of a car park or something, not sure) for a long time just Minigunning every incoming police vehicle.

They're not going to change it. Hell there was this one thread where a guy showed how R* could fix many problems just by editing a few lines of code. PC version already has a mod to fix the police, but there'll never be an official patch. So, we'll have to deal with getting 2 stars just by parking a few feet from a cop.

Minigunning lol....

Yea of course if you use a minigun not even the hardest cops with the best AI would stop you...

I mean like with a combat PDW or a Combat rifle.

It isnt that easy and Cops will allways try to come from 2 directions.(Even if there arent 2 direction they will come from the Air )

The cops in GTA V have a few problems. One example is no matter how far you go, they always seem to know where you're at, what vehicle you're in, what alleyway you're in, all that stuff.

Not what Vehicle your in if you go into a unknown Vehicle you are marked dark on the map and Cops will less likely notice you.

And yes its a bit weird they have XRay but I think that was done to avoid it beeing super easy to escape the Cops, but rather have close "hiding chases" there you try to go around the Cops.

But certainly the System still needs improvement.

Even if you're in a different vehicle, right away they seem to know where you're at. What's more weird though, is that animals count as witnesses. So if you were to kill someone out on the mountains or something, animals count as a witness so cops will go after you.

Honestly I just think R* realy likes to troll us...

I mean not only Animals Reporting crimes but also the weird NPC AI which takes turn to BLOCK YOU every god damn time...

I realy doubt its unintentional since the mechanic for it is coded.

Its just an ON/OFF thing...

Well .. yeah .. I mean the Cops in GTA V are the most controversial one, let us be honest.

Sometimes they are very tough and not easy to loose, and sometimes they're just funny.

I think, if you play the game right (as user that mentioned it before me), you won't have a lot of problems. The only thing, that sometimes

makes me angry is that they know exactly where you are. But beside of that, they are a big improvement of the IV cops.

That isn't a weakness. The fact you could have long lasting shootouts is what made previous GTAs more fun. I hate trying to rampage in GTA V because it literally feels like the cops are the biggest fun killers.

Take the Rhino for example. In the 3D era it was mostly a beast and you kill hundreds of cops/peds before it was finally destroyed yet in GTA V the Rhino is as weak as piss because it's not able the withstand the same amount of punishment.

and sometimes they're just funny.

Really? It feels like every cop in GTA V was born with a personality disorder that doesn't allow them to have a sense of humour. I don't recall ever being entertained or finding them funny. They're the most dry and boring cops out of any GTA I've played.

The only thing I like is the search cone radius, but everything else is fundamentally flawed like the ridiculous rubber banding, the fact animals can call cops etc. They have a lot of work to do as far I'm concerned.

Have you read through this Topic yet, PF? It's an Analysis of a couple of particular files that are responsible for a considerable amount of angst.
