Elimination Games: The Takeaway

This thread is about what we can learn from the Elimination Game series of threads. We all know the Sabre Turbo won the Ultimate Elimination and I'm sure that there is a lot of contention about if that is the right choice or not. It's not my point to make a decision either way, but I think we are missing the data that the games provide that is even more accurate than which car is our favorite.

In short, the Elimination Games are better at showing which cars the community dislikes the most.

1. Granger

2. Hexer

3. Massacro

4. Ocelot F620

5. Rhapsody

6. Sabre Turbo

7. Sandking XL

8. Stinger GT

9. Stratum

10. Surfer

11. Turismo R

This is the Ultimate Elimination list. Essentially it should be what the community thinks are the best cars in each class. Maybe you agree with some, maybe none, but nobody agrees with the entire list.

This is the Ultimate Eliminated list; a list of the first car eliminated in each game.

1. Zentorno

2. Minivan

3.Technical

4. Dilletante

5. Lectro

6. FQ2

7. Zion Cabrio

8. Voodoo

9. Asea

10. Z Type

11. Fusilade

I think this is more in line with the majority of forum member's beliefs than the first list. So what does everyone think? Is this the real power of the elimination game? To focus our collective hate of certain cars into a laser like beam of disgust? Would you want to have a bonus game to see which of these cars would get the axe first? An anti-elimination game of sorts to see just which is the worst of the worst.

Overall none of the results make any logical sense to me but yea....maybe thats just me

I learned that there's a gulf between what forum members voted for and what the general population in game actually like. I've been in many a random garage just to have a nosy and at least half of the list of winners are never to be seen. Ok not never but certainly not top of the class levels of popularity.

In my opinion, these were just games, nothing more, nothing less. Each vehicle had an equal chance of winning, and no one had a disadvantage right from the get go. I've seen many vehicles generally disliked by the GTA Online community last further than people initially thought. Take the Duneloader and Bullet for example; two vehicles that have significantly slow performance and are generally shunned by the GTA Online community, yet they beat out more popular cars like the Dubsta 6x6 and Osiris respectively.

I'm not saying people are wrong for doing this, but I think a good amount of participants were trying to look at these games as a survey to see which cars in each class are the favorite among the GTA Online community. That's probably why there was quite some bitterness whenever the best vehicles for racing were eliminated. But personally, if we really wanted to find the one favorite car of the GTA Online community, I think a poll would have been more accurate.

I'm aware that I was the last poster in this thread, but I felt like it was time to revive this elimination game discussion thread, now that new elimination games are coming up. I'm probably going to get prodded for what I'm going to say next, but I still felt the need to say it.

I've seen the "it's popular so let's make it lose" mentality on elimination games and similar contests on other sites. I think that when people come to such contests, they start hating on the popular stuff because having the popular stuff always win would make elimination games and contests predictable and repetitive. For them, it would be nice to have a dark horse victory just to mix things up. For example, on Gamefaq's character battles, there seems to always be bitching and moaning that Link always wins, or that it's always Link vs Cloud. I've seen people turn to other sites to conspire to take down Link just because he's popular and always wins.

"But this is about choosing the best weapon for the job. It's different from choosing a best character."

Actually, it's not different. It's an elimination game, not a heist or mission. Everything has an equal chance to win. Everything is fair game to get downvoted.

They are a stupid bunch of threads which are just being milked into hell now (hence the weapons elimination game etc...) and Josh is trying to be a popular member on the forum by taking credits for these.

He tries hard to close down other threads and has staff try to close them when someone makes a similar thread.

More like the regulars prefer to take part in the games hosted by Josh as he helped popularise them and does a good job of hosting. It's the people who create new threads when they know that the current one hasn't finished yet who are looking for attention, not Josh.

Yet you vote on them.

Makes sense.

People like them, that's why they continue. I don't understand all these sort of conspiracy theories, do you really think he's just trying to be popular because of them?

He was just the first one to hold them in these forums, it's his job to continue them. After he starts them, he pretty much just does his job of looking for any "cheaters", and making the next one.

Those are just games, they are meant to be fun.If you can't have fun, stay out, don't mind, just move on

There's no such thing as popularity, even if his forum games are good,he is still like everybody else, just a user roaming around, making posts,etc...

Don't consider yourself better than others,we are all in the same level.

I wanted to revive this particular thread because there is a new series of elimination games starting, and I think this thread would be good place for general elimination game discussion.

Speaking of discussion, I played a little bit of GTA IV today and I was wondering,,,how would the NRG 900 fare in the motorcycle elimination game if it was in GTA Online?

Retired Mafia

i would like to add to this though that the same people can add points to a car multiple times (once a day), while those who may not like that car only take points off that vehicle once.

beside that, some people just take points off of vehicles since it's the most strategic thing to do to have the vehicle they like be the winning one. so i don't think you can say they're the most or least popular cars of the community

I'll second GoldadderXD's proposal to make this a general takeaway thread regarding any of the elimination games. I'm personally most interested in figuring out what we can learn from them. Whether people always decide on looks or performance or another perception. If people only vote for cars they own or not.

So far, the weapons game winners have been performance-oriented.

Quite a contrast to the vehicle games if you ask me.

I wonder if the new revolver would have been able to beat the AP pistol in the pistol game. Everyone seems to talk about how powerful it is.
