How rockstar is (cleverly) scamming us

Heists are actually completely useless since you get more or less the same payout doing missions... Expecially if you are playing with randoms.

Pacific Standard takes us about an hour and twenty minutes to complete on hard free aim.

26k x 5 setups plus the finale at 250k or if host is generous 312k.

It pays more than missions, and it's fun.

If we all host it back to back, which we have, Thank you Rockstar $$. LOL

We also appreciate the hei$t challenge$ Rockstar added for us.

Well to be fair we do get all of the add-on content updates for free so... I mean I do see what you're saying but it can't really hold water in an argument when they don't forcibly charge us a dime for anything unless we (the players) choose to buy cash cards, I've been playing GTA Online since day one and I haven't spent a single penny on anything other than two copies of the game, a copy for Xbox 360 and copy for my One.

The argument is as solid as the biproduct of dysentery. The basic complaint from our obtuse and spoiled OP is that the stuff in GTAO is more expensive than in GTAV, and therefore Rockstar is scamming us because in SP you can earn more. He wants all the shinies right now and for no effort and it's NOT FAIR that he can't have them and R* owes him all the monies and things and he doesn't like waiting and he's a special and unique flower

Don't worry, we can have the flower blooming by next year.

Actually, I don't know what the hell I just said. Carry on.

I prefer the way Rockstar has handled the smaller content updates. (We still don't know how much they'll charge for a larger update, such as the single player DLC, or larger GTA; Online content after Heists that weren't promised to be a free update.) Look at Saints Row, $2.99 for a vehicle and some clothing. vehicle and a weapon, vehicle, clothing and weapon, or just weapon and clothing. As well as $0.99-$3.99 for a weapon or a new power modifier. Imagine how much it would cost to have access to all the DLC in GTA; Online if it cost to buy it using Saint Rows pricing structure. Also, if Rockstar did charge for the Zentorno, Osiris, Special Carbine, Homing Rocket, etc players would have a reason to complain about the game being pay to win and being forced to spend their money in order to still compete on the same level as the players that bought the dlc.

It's funny how nobody really talked garbage about rstar til V came out. I don't see how they are scamming anyone or ripping us off. I got a 60$ game I've gotten almost 2 years of playtime with. With numerous free updates that only require my time to dl and get money for.

Games are about the grind, and sp isn't mp. If you want it all for little work than pay the outrageous shark card prices. What benefit is it to them to have everyone have everything so easily? That doesn't keep people playing over the long term.

Cash cards exist because a lot of people are lazy and will rather pay real money than time. They add new things be it lame or reskinned items but it's more than most games do, and they aren't charging us for any of it.

Go look at what destiny is doing to its players, rstar hasn't scammed me once, they're games annoyed the heck out of me but we aren't getting ripped off or scammed.

Not a scam, but it's just a business model of F2P game with in-game credit sales.

Many mobile games and apparently Gran Turismo 6 does the same,

but Rockstar is still the only one who push too hard in my eyes. Obvious desperate.

OP - this game online is ABOUT microtransactions now. It's not about the game or content, the game is just a mechanism in which they found people will buy digital money. I've been making this point lately. It's not about quality content, it's about content that pushes kesh kards and pricing to really push those kards. It is dramatically changing the way and why games are made. Those that don't see it - are just the mindless consumers R* is counting on or fabois and fangrrrls who live with blinders on.

Ignore all the blabbermouths who insult you. You are on to something indeed with the nerfing of missions and payouts to make grinding money more difficult - it's all being done to say "hey, it's hard to make money - you can always buy a shark card!" Those that don't have the time or desire to grind are left with little choice.

You want money? Go spend 20 bucks and get an account recovery from a modder with as much money as you want. Thumb your nose at R* and play the game your way. Don't be R*'s bitch.

Cheers.

Rockstar is a company of greed. Everywhere you look there are examples of it. A great example is the small bank in paleto bay in story mode paying a ton of money, BUT THE LARGEST BANK IN LOS SANTOS IN ONLINE PAYS 1,250,000 ON HARD?!?!?! I believe that heists are rockstars fools gold. They tempt you with promise of big pay and money but really they're just a load of crap. During heists 90% of the time you either fail or someone quits. so first off, rockstar is scamming you because their heists don't pay nearly enough. My second point on how they are scamming you is by inflating the prices from story mode to online. In story mode you can see that most prices are cheaper than online. They are hoping that by inflating their prices that you will buy a quick shark card to get cash and afford their outrageous prices (10k for a shirt? Cmon man!) a third way I believe they are scamming us is by making the jobs pay less. They knew rooftop rumble and coveted (remember those) were making us rich and I'll bet my a$$ that shark card sales were at an all time low so they figured hey if we make it hard as heck to earn cash they will have to buy money and if they glitch we can ban them! This really dissapoints me because I always thought rockstar was above this micro transaction bs but I was wrong. Anyway I felt this was necessary because as the ill gotten gains part 2 approaches we all need to be wary that the prices are gonna be beyond expensive because rockstar will just feed us some "special luxury item bs" do you feel the same way about rockstar?

I always wonder about the ppl that constantly piss and moan about Rockstar, and GTAO, yet still play the game, and write threads like these? Call me crazy, but I do believe there's tons of other games on all the consoles out now you can freely choose to play....

Common point. The "why bitch about it and still play it"

The reason is that people enjoy the franchise, enjoy the previous iterations and want this game to be special. The intrusion of microtransactions today has really changed how the franchise operates. It's like watching something you cherish evolve into something unpleasant.

I will speak up because I enjoy this franchise. I fear for it's future though. R* has found an economic model that blows paid DLCs out of the water in terms of profit. There is little room for art and creation to create something good. GTA as a franchise will now be beholden to microstransactions and R* will profit mightily.

Its a tragedy and I mourn what the franchise will become.

It's like watching your brother turn to hard drugs. You know things will never be the same.

Pure class and adds great things to this thread. Thank you. /sarcasim

Yes. EA is a trailblazer in this regard. They catch a lot of sh*t for it too, but people buy and buy often. Until gamers stand up and demand not to be bilked these trends will grow. Gaming is not about pickpocketing or nickle and diming players.

I'm not being scammed. I bought the game for $60 and haven't spend a penny more.

Do contact missions. You can get $100k an hour at LEAST.

For $20 you get a $1,250,000 Shark Card. That is approximately 3 hours work at minimum wage.

3 hours of work to buy Shark Card VS. 8+ hours playing missions for $150,000 per hour.

Even though everyone is responsible for what they buy, you cannot deny that R* flexing their micro-transaction persuasion muscle.

Yeah, microtransactions just RUINED IT.

I don't see it as they are scamming us, so much as they are just failing to make good on promises and expectations we as players had for them. Certain things they did very well, and were major improvements over GTA 4. For instance, having personal, customizable vehicles which are always available to us and stored in a garage was a great idea. Making it so we could keep our weapons and ammo instead of hunting for a car and weapons every time we die or start a new game was another great idea. Making it so we could level up and unlock things with higher rank, as well as giving us stuff to actually spend our money on was another huge improvement, and the degree of character customization was as well. Certain basic, core elements of this game were simply brilliant innovations on their part which added much needed depth to the series.

However, they've screwed the pooch royally on almost everything else. Heists, which were long promised and overhyped, are almost unplayable, and a huge letdown, to say the least. Content creator has ruined almost any hope of being able to find good races and deathmatches to join, which used to be fairly easy in GTA 4. The number of hackers, modders, and glitchers is enormous compared to this game's predecessor, and they are going mostly unchecked. The whole bad-sport and car insurance system is ridiculous, and needs to be removed. To be honest, for these and other reasons I find free-roam itself to be completely unplayable, and now only play in invite only sessions between games. The fact that they keep patching things that make it easier to earn cash while failing to fix long-standing problems and complaints, shows that they strongly prioritize cash card sales over improving gameplay experience for their loyal, established customers. This will definitely be in the back of my mind during the next release of GTA.

Their incompetence has made large chunks of this game virtually unplayable; things that were once my favorite activity in GTA 4 are now almost unplayable in 5. Supposedly, GTA 5 was the best-selling entertainment product ever sold. At the current rate, I don't see that trend continuing with the next GTA release. Many players are fed up, and have been for quite some time. Many of us are now skeptical that they will be able to deliver on releasing more of their classic, ground-breaking hits. I most likely would not have even gotten involved in GTA 5 myself, were it not for the fact that there was nothing else in development at the time that interested me, and it had been a long time since I'd played any new games.

By the time their next release comes out, I will be looking to other companies to deliver timeless, classic games to play, and R* will be in the back of my list for new games to try. I think many other players feel the same. I will continue playing this game for now, but I will not buy cash cards or spend another dime on any new content they release, unless they make some huge improvements. In the meantime, I will be looking in other directions for my gaming desires, away from any of R*'s products. I hope that they will get their act together, but if not, the market is ripe with opportunity for sensational new games on current gen, and will be for a long time to come. If they fail to deliver, somebody else most certainly will, I am sure of that.

YOu don't need the f*cking car, you just want it.

Here's the thing - I wear an Omega Seamaster on my wrist. It cost £3000. What I did for that watch was I worked at a job, took home a salary, and apportioned funds for that watch until I had sufficient available balance to buy it.

Now, I'm not a sh*tbag millennial like your good self sir, so the notion of having to work to earn money to satisfy my economic wants was ingrained at an early age. If I want something in GTA I have two options:

1) I can hang out with friends and have fun and race and do missions and heists and earn money almost as an ancilliary benefit

1a) I could grind too, but by emphasising the social aspect over the monetary aspect I can derive greater utility

2) I can buy a shark-card by rationalising the cost of in-game time to earn money vs real world time, i.e. "is it worth more to me to buy the card than earn the cash in game?"

I don't have a Hydra or Valkyrie though both would be useful. I own not an insurgent, and armoured kurumas will find no safe haven in my garages. These are surplus to my requires but should that change I shall make sure to follow yours and the OP's enlightened lead and complain loudly that the game owes me it, and doesn't give me what I want.
