Certain Races Limited to Specific Cars/Car Types

If I am hosting a race, why should I be limited to a specific car or car type?

Who cares if it's offroad, let me use whichever car type we want to use.

I know that some races physically require certain cars, for instance the Panto may be the only car that can go certain routes.

Yeah i agree! I dont like it when a race is locked to a certain vehicle

In creator you can choose which classes can be used within the race, up to forcing one car only.

Some tracks make sense with a specific class, or they simply don`t work with others, so it is better not to be able to choose them, only to scream "rape" the minute you can`t drive faster than 20.

Well if R* knows which vehicle classes are physically nearly impossible to accomplish some races with, then they should allow us to choose any cars except those ones.

Afirmatif!

What you do, is go in the car class selection, uncheck everything, then go into the class that the car is into, check only that car - voila! Forced car :)

Yeah, sometimes those restrictions are needed. For example, I have built an air race with a rather steep incline right after the race begins. I have locked all planes unable to make the climb without stalling. (I left those planes in that were able but could stall easily if the pilot made a mistake, though.) It is to protect others from making choices that render the experience extremely unfun (like having to circle slowly up towards the first two waypoints while others have already finished the first lap). In other cases you might want to restrict a race to one specific vehicle that is expecially fun on a given track but would otherwise have little chance to actually win the race.

Unfortunately R* had, for a time, the idea that restricted races would be an ideal gimmick to promote a car from a new update. More often than not this is a waste of a track, more like an interactive commercial than anything else.

I think it's fun to all race in one particular stock car, it's something we do from time to time and I've got a few races locked.

Basically balances the whole field and really makes it totally about the driver. Also allows you to create a themed races. I don't see why people would need to race customs ALL the time.

Like mentioned above, you just select one car per class in the creator and voila, it's locked. If 2 cars in a class are open, customs are then enabled. I've seen a few races where, if you turn custom off, people are limited to a choice of 2 or 3 different but balanced stocks.

I can think of several races friends have made where multiple classes are available but only 1 car in each.

It's not all about the driver unless catchup and slipstream are off.

I can't remember a race in red rum where we've had catch up on. Slipstream to waaaayy OP that it only suits the odd race here n there.
