LazyGator
Simple question. For me, GTA V's lackluster mechanics, storyline, characters, dull world and multiplayer actually made GTA IV that much sweeter; it was like, "Wow, I'm so glad to be back in Liberty City after that huge botch in Los Santos." Call me crazy, but I even prefer IV's multiplayer over GTA:O...like a lot more (better missions/gametypes, better mechanics and a more balanced experience). I'm just wondering if I'm the only one who not only went back to IV but also found it to be better after playing V. Progeekzy
Im not sure how it could make it "better" For some people they might appreciate aspects of IV more because of V. That dosent make it better. You make a hamburger better by adding cheese to it. Nothing was added to IV, so i really dont see how it was made better.
Harwood Butch3r
I'm moving this to neutral ground in the GTA series chat forum. As for the question certain aspects made me appreciate GTA IV more like that it actually has quite a lot of freedom to complete missions unlike GTA V's linearity, but seeing as I always thought it was the best GTA I didn't need GTA V to put things into perspective for me. kBlaise
I still love 2008 Liberty City and the stories of Johnny and Luis but I voted no because I don't think the shooting and driving (slippery nonsense) mechanics aged very well. They're a total disgrace when compared to GTA V - that's how I feel, heh.
Big_Smiley
Multiplayer was fun back when people still played it. But for me IV was lacking with weapons. There was just a small ammount of weapons. And only two mele weapons. (Excluding the pool cue in tlad) Imo it would've been better to have more weapons but R* had thier reasons. For Tlad the brass knuckles would've been a nice come back from the 3D era since most biker gangs are heavily armed. I don't perfer one over another. Thier both grate games Imo. Osho
Yes, its very obvious if you are a fanboy of good games, then IV would naturally feel a much better experience compared to Vs disappointing and miserable release. If I have to NOW rate IV after playing V then, IV = 8/10 V = 3/10 Harwood Butch3r

Trevorchumash
So just because YOU didn't like V, you're trying to imply that the game is sh*ttier than IV? As a fact? Stop bullsh*tting everyone. You can praise IV to hell, but don't say that V sucks as a fact. Fact is that IV remains the odd one out in the series. The black sheep. A game sh*ttier than IV won't come, but even if it does, IV will remain the game that divided the GTA fanbase FOREVER.
Aerovitia
Here it goes again.OT: It depends. If you didn't satisfied with V's storyline, IV can gives you a deep, decent storyline. It's an evolution of Pulp Fiction's different POVs for me (give me Royale with Cheese PF!). Most people is still praised it's storyline, even if they enjoyed V more than IV. Storyline is a strong point of IV. (PP and name are censored for privacy reasons) That's from my friend who enjoyed V and GTAO 'till now but still praised IV's storyline, no bullsh*t (well, he enjoyed IV before V was released on PC though). And yes, it's a fact that IV is odd one out. R took a new approach with IV. Game is more serious than other Gtas. Ask anyone to play VC, SA, IV and V. Tell em to pick the odd one. They'll say IV. Facts don't change boy.Why is GTA III missing? GTA III was a serious game for its time so if anything GTA IV went back full circle to a concept they had already tried in 2001. I've always felt the complaints about GTA IV being too "serious" come mostly from kids whose first GTA was SA. GTA III fans rarely moan about GTA IV being too serious as most are now adults who appreciate that style of expression. IV is the only one that tried to be too serious. A GTA game trying to be serious lmao. The story tried to be, I dunno what, some tragic tale lmfao. Most of it turned out to be filler and 'if it payz' crap. Then the physics tried to be realistic, again flopping miserably. Tries to be serious. Other games have a goof sense of humour. SA had humour. VC had humour. V doesn't take itself seriously. This is a video game, not a tragic tale session. IV went too serious, and for that it will ever be the black sheep of GTA. Fanbois can't change it. The Tracker
Tycek
IV had humor as well, but the fact that you couldn't find it doesn't make the game bad, Maybe some jokes just went over your head, but I honestly laugh a lot more during IV than any other GTAs. In which moment exactly III was so light and funny, because I remember it being even more dark and depressing than IV? Physics tried to be realistic? What the hell are you talking about? Sentences like this makes me wonder if you actually played that game more than two minutes at your pal's computer. All ragdoll animation and falls were extremely funny and much better than blocky 3D era physics or V watered one. Also I don't think jumping on the asphalt like a rock on the water is extremely realistic. If the status of being a black sheep will keep people like you away, then be it. I'd rather play this black sheep, which is much closer to the 3D era in all terms than overdone retirement simulator, which doesn't really know if it should be realistic, goofy, step into real world or became SR direct competitor. Aerovitia
IV had some no-brainer jokes as well, albeit more subtle. It shouldn't be too hard to laugh on IV, unless you can only take physical abuse or straight-to-your-face jokes. I don't thing the storyline are really dark too, albeit of it's gritty world. It's not like the storyline was created by Nolan or some dude who makes a magical girl chinese cartoon or live-action TV morning superhero looks dark and edgy. I'd rather play an underdog black sheep but eventually becomes a wine-like game than an overhyped game that eventually leading into the disappointment. Good thing V isn't a buggy mess and Houser bros didn't tried to silence criticism because why the hell they would do it anyway. Mr.Arrow
GTA 4 was the black sheep of the GTA . People dont like GTA IV because it was a major stepback compare to GTA SA during its time ( yes you couldnt parachute in GTA IV because of realism until TBOGT came out,no customization for cars and there is no such thing as garage in GTA IV .) It was really no surprise that people prefer GTA SA over IV .Nostalgia is one hell of a drug.

And they know that V is much better than IV. Like I said before, IV remains the black sheep because it tried to be too serious. Can't parachute. No planes. No customisation. Can't swim underwater. A boring repetitive story. I was like, 'This is a GTA game or a real life simulator? What were they thinking?' I can only laugh at the bunch of fanbois that say the game is a masterpiece. And I can't stand the bandwagoners. Seriously though, IV sucked big time. I can imagine what a shock if must have been to Rockstar when they saw that it couldn't outsell SA, despite being given 10/10 like candy. I laugh everytime I think of those critic ratings. Thank god V steadied the series again. The Tracker
