I got a warning on here today and it says something about points. Do those points means they are strikes against my account? It said 0 so I'm not really fretting. I was just curious as to what those were. I'll just have to slow it down and think before I post for now on to keep myself from getting a temp.

Reminders carry zero points even though they look like warnings. Warnings and temps carry one point and a full ban is currently 1000. You can actually get quite a few points under the current system and still have an account since it's mainly situational and at the discretion of the staff member handling the case whether to ban or not. The points are mainly a guideline.

Oh okay so is it kind of like BS points in GTAO in a way? That being the more points you accumulate, the more likely you are to being banned? Is it kind of like that? I'm probably wrong lol

It's similar but bans aren't automatic. When a mod looks at your member log, the amount of points accumulated can be considered when determining the severity of the action to be taken if any.

Ah okay then it's probably best that I keep mine at 0 then. Do the points ever go back down to 0 overtime or once you get them, they stay?

To my knowledge, they stay, because entries in the member log aren't usually removed.

The points system are just there because ipb forces it, we don't really use it.

Reminders are zero, warnings are 1 point which expire after 30 days, temporary bans are 1 point which never expire, permanent bans are 1000 points otherwise people would get banned automatically if the bar was lower.

 

But none of that matters because like uNi says, we don't use the points system, it's the entries themselves that matter and staff use their discretion and judge accordingly based on whatever you've done.

In other words, will I be able to eg quote/copy/paste stuff while using IE (not my browser choice, at all, but kinda mandatory sometimes) in 2 weeks or so?
