What are the 'Rules' regarding Double Posting?

 

The only 'Rules' are to use common sense. In most situations a post should be edited to correct it, or to add a subsequent comment.

 

Double Posting in order to selfishly bump a help or recruitment thread is considered to be the same as spamming. Such posts will either be merged into the previous post (de-bumping the thread) or will be removed (for example the word 'bump' posted repeatedly). Habitual or excessive behaviour could even earn the poster a warning.

 

Double posting to add new or relevant information in order to bump a topic to inform or otherwise benefit the community (for example, if a 'fix' has been found for a problem) is fine providing the topic is not an ancient one which itself contains out dated information.

We won't upgrade until we're happy enough with ipb4, I wouldn't expect it to happen before five or six months.

I realize that both of you (among a few others) are on different sides of the barricade, but still there are so many ways to talk in a civic manner.

 

If nothing else works, just block and resist the temptation to reply back to any of his quoted posts, by simply ignoring and moving along.

But it doesn't outright remove the post from the page, It just hides it with an option to unhide the post which i do admit sometimes hard to not click

He trolled me there too. I blocked him for a while but just messaged him to try and clear this stuff up. He kept sarcastically liking my posts and mentioning me in his posts randomly.

Why can't V Staff and other Led bys,

display a different colour too?

Come on, I'd say that at least some also achieved that "kewlness" status (even if just barely) and might worth the distinction from the rest of us the peasants

 

It would also help us to easily see them active when there's a wall of members logged on.

I think it'd make it more confusing to have the memberlist full of even more colour, plus we'd require more staff groups for each ledby. Whilst all of our ledbys are very helpful whereever they post, they still only have power within the subforums they lead, so it makes the most sense to just highlight those who are global staff.

I fully understand that led bys don't have global powers, just within their "own platoon"...

 

Again with some military analogy, GTAF's yellows&blues indeed help us to understand who are the Generals and who are the other Officers on duty, despite those logging in anonymously...

It's just that sometimes I believe that the community would also benefit if the Sergeants on duty could be easily spotted, avoiding (when in need) having to climb over them and bothering any of those Generals/Officers that never sleep (not really an issue atm, except sometimes @GTAO, but it surely was just before/after any new launch)

 

I rest my case, it was just both a doubt and a difficulty that I've found.

Though I disagree, I can understand why you don't want to kinda level up Sergeants with Officers.

Could perhaps Forum Leaders get their own 'Group Colour'? Green perhaps?
