First of all, amazing job everybody! We stormed through Round 64, it was great to see you all!

@oscareczek came up with this great idea of streaming out turns, during the last one I took over 20 people showed up at one point, wasn't expecting that!

I would like to ask you for feedback. How did the broadcast look? Was it decent quality? Was there some lag?

Wasn't lagging for me at all. Though I think the streaming service on Steam by default has a bit of delay, so there's that.

I watched level 3-4 of your paramedic run, and it was quite smooth.

I thought the broadcast looked great, it was of decent quality and there wasn't any lagging. As Th3MaN1 says the stream is on a slight delay but I'm pretty sure this is just how it is as I had experienced this in a stream test I did and so there's nothing that can be done about that. It's not an issue though, it just means that we're watching something you had done ~30 Seconds ago so when you receive our messages in game it's probably not relevant to what you're doing when you see them.

This is a great idea as I've said before and the streams have been great so far. :)

Thanks for response. Yeah I've noticed the delay too, don't think we can do something about this.

Nope, far as I know that's coming from Steam itself.

I tried to create a Steam broadcast earlier, but it wouldn't work. :( Every time I ran GTA III, the broadcast stats showed 0fps and 0kbps. However, when I would minimize the game and go to my Desktop, the stream would show 30fps and work just fine (I was viewing it on my phone). Anybody have this issue?

It's not all about looks, who wants a good looking car if you're unable to control it? A suspect in Vigilante today, probably Th3MaN1 as it was in his usual choice of color, managed to flip it completely on to it's roof without me doing anything!

Now ask yourself this - If you had to choose between that 'super' car and the Pony, which would you choose? consider.gif

That's strange, I haven't had this happen to me although my PC did at one stage a year or two ago refuse to record anything at all using any software I tried, but I think it turned out to be a Driver Issue and is unlikely related to this. Did you try changing the broadcast settings in the Steam Overlay and seeing if you could get it to work on different settings?

Have you ever tried streaming to other services, and not Steam - If so, has that worked?

Ah, I figured out the problem. Turns out my game was running at too high of a resolution. I scaled it down to like 1280x800 and the stream frame rate shot up to 30fps. Strange because I had Steam configured to stream at one of the lowest settings. Maybe the process of downscaling the game was too slow and caused the stream to not work.

You say that, but...

I would not trust you to drive a Perennial on a completely free road without having one of those accidents of yours, let alone a car with really bad handling like an Idaho.

At least the I was worth 9.5k.

Well, the only reason I had these accidents is because of the poor handling of the Banshee and Cheetah. It's almost impossible to control these cars when they start accelerating, unlike the Idaho which grips to the road well and goes a comfortable speed you have full control over.

I can see how the Criminal flipped their Cheetah over...

By 'comfortable speed' you mean strolling so slow even a grandma can outrun the thing.

That's exactly the kind of car one would use while doing crimes, a slow one.

And I'm pretty sure the Idaho is easier to flip over while taking a sharp turn, compared to the Cheetah.

Leave the Banshee outta this though, or else...

The Idaho is the perfect vehicle for many of the tasks we're being given in the game. It is the perfect getaway vehicle, the perfect race vehicle, the perfect vehicle for drive-bys - There's nothing that this car cannot do. I've done every task in this game in one of these vehicles and it's been a big help.

There's not a need to do a 'Sharp Turn' in an Idaho because the speed and handling make it easy to carefully manoeuvre around any road, obstacle or corner that you drive it around so you have virtually no chance of flipping the car over. The Cheetah on the other hand you are almost required to do a Sharp Turn because if you don't, the vehicle goes too fast and completely spins out and misses the road by miles.

Well, the Banshee is better than the Cheetah, I can agree with that at least! ;)

Cheetah is prettier, my favourite of the fastest cars.

And Stallion>Idaho, especially Diablo Stallion with that engine's sound <3

Needs more MrMateczko Appreciation...

As of 11th February 2017, MrMateczko has been participating in the GTA III Chain Game for 5 Years. He's taken close to 400 Turns and has participated in almost 50 Rounds of the game, being one of our longest serving Chain Game Players who is still around playing today! He's been part of the fastest ever GTA III Chain Game Round and the slowest ever GTA III Chain Game Round, he's filled in as Temporary Chief of the Chain Game, and has very kindly updated the Chain Game 100% Checklist in many of our rounds.

This is an absolutely incredible achievement, and definitely needs some recognition in this thread and what a suitable time with the topic title as it is. Thanks for all of your continued dedication to the game, MrMateczko! :)

MrMateczko has been participating in the GTA III Chain Game for 5 Years.

What's the definition of insanity again?

Regardless, that's some dedication. Nice one. :beerhat:

Chain Game Announcement!

It's time to head back to the dark streets of Liberty City and complete some Side Missions immediately after the devastating destruction of the Callahan Bridge!

The next round of the GTA III Chain Game will be a Starter Save Round and for those of you unfamiliar with what this is, then it's where we attempt to complete all Side Missions at the beginning of the game without any of the Story Missions being completed.

As there has not been a Starter Save Round in over a year and many of the current players were not as active back then as they may be now, I thought it'd be a good time to quickly go over the important Rule Differences between a Starter Save Round and a normal 100% Round of the game.

No Story Missions: The Main Difference between a Starter Save Round and a 100% Completion Round is that we are attempting to create a save that has all of the Side Missions Complete at the beginning of the game, meaning that no player should complete a Single Storyline Mission during the round. This is the most important rule of the game and is often broken in these rounds due to players not reading the rules carefully or being aware of the differences in the Starter Save Rounds.

'Give Me Liberty' Mission Trigger: The Starter Save we will be using will not yet have the opening missions of the game, 'Give Me Liberty' and 'Luigi's Girls', complete. Claude will still be wearing his Prison Overalls, as well as the Callahan Bridge still containing the wreckage from the bomb in the opening intro.

This mission can be triggered from an invisible marker however, but no player should activate the mission as we are not attempting any Story Missions in this round. There will be a screenshot that my questionable art skills edited in Paint in the opening posts to let you all know where this is, so that you can plan you're route around it. This trigger exists both above and below the bridge, but like a normal mission marker can only be triggered on foot.

One Named Side Mission: Unlike the regular rounds where players are free to do as many Side Missions as they wish, there is a slight rule change for the Starter Save Rounds that is in place to ensure the round is not over in only one or two turns. This is the One Named Side Mission rule where during your turn, you are only able to complete one of the following:
  • "Patriot Playground"
  • "A Ride In The Park"
  • "Gripped!"
  • "Multistorey Mayhem"
  • "Mafia Massacre"
  • "Diablo Destruction"
  • "Casino Calamity"
  • "Rumpo Rampage"
You are still free to do as many of the other Side Missions as you choose, either with or without one of the above.

Reduced Turn Time Limit: You are only allowed TWO HOURS to complete your turn, which is one hour less than a normal round of the game. This is because of the reduced amount of content in the game, which if turns in this round were three hours, would allow for one player to do an unfair amount of the game themselves. The Chain Game is all about playing as a team, as we have been doing so well recently!

FUN!: Most importantly, have fun! :pp

If anyone has any questions, if something I have said doesn't make any sense, then please feel free to ask questions here or send me a message. We've had great activity from the players recently and you've all made these rounds a lot of fun to play! Thank you all for your continued dedication to the Chain Game!

GTAKid probably achieved an unbeatable record with a peak of 152 viewers during his stream, which is pretty dang impressive. Clearly, he's got that special touch. :D

Holy sh*t!! And I thought 30 was a lot yesterday :p
