Anyway, I've been wondering for a couple of months now but would be possible in future for Chain Game to host a mod? I've been thinking of something new that might attract new players to the Chain Game instead of having boring GTA 3 for 40 rounds (I'm NOT saying GTA 3 is boring but playing it for 40 times gets really boring, right?). So I have been thinking of Frosted Winter total conversion to make things more fresh. What do you guys think? :D

You can use mods and still participate in the Chain Game as long as the mod doesn't change the script file (main.scm) or change vehicle properties that could glitch the save for players using the unmodified version of the game. I personally don't use mods and never will. I'm also not sure if the Steam version is compatible with mods (it might occasionally check for file integrity and replace modified files with the original ones) and that's the only version I want to play since it fixes some bugs the disc version doesn't.

I'm sorry guys. It was my mistake. First I finished Vigilante in Stanton and Shoreside Vale. Then I went to do Multistory Mayhem and I missed one checkpoint. Didn't have time to come back for it... Then I flipped that stupid Land Stalker.

That's why you have 3 hours to complete your turn. There is no excuse not to start over if you've failed a mission, died, or got busted. There's plenty of time to redo stuff. I recently died during one of the turns and lost an hour's worth of progress but I decided to reload and do something else. It's frustrating but the more you fail the better you get at the game. For that reason I always only save once, at the end of the turn.

Lol no, you understood totally wrong! I don't mean if I can use a mod while playing, I mean IF the Chain Game is changed to instead of using original GTA 3, to using Frosted Winter mod, which is available here: http://gtaforums.com/topic/466023-gta-frosted-winter/

I am using original disc version (patched to 1.1) and I'm also not using mods at all but I mean THIS total conversion if could be used in a future chain game round, to make things a bit different.

Sorry but that's not something that's going to happen. Your idea is not bad at all, but the point of the chain game is to complete the original game. It's just simply not how this entire thing works. The only time we used a modded save was when we introduced generated vehicles, and even that idea wasn't particularly popular with some people

This is the GTA III chain game, and it will remain so until the end.

You don't need to use the mod to play Chain Game, you can just play the mod by yourself. I personally really like it, it's a well done mod, although I haven't played yet, I will start playing after I complete the current playthrough of GTA 3. But if you don't like the mod, then that's fine, I am NOT forcing you to play it but it was just a small suggestion for the Chain Game as I find it a bit boring with unmodded game, sure it's fun for a couple of rounds but then after that becomes boring and people want something new.

Well, judging by the amount of rounds I'd say the original game isn't all that boring since older players have kept playing throughout the years.

If GTA III was as long as SA, then maybe some mods would make things more interesting, but it's not a long game to 100%, and we still find it enjoyable after all these years. It's just right how it is.

I have a question to ask:

Is using the Silent patch allowed? It's not a CLEO script and it just fixes bugs and issues.

I would ask the same thing about the widescreen fix.

lol232, aka Dennis, you make this Chain Game way too fast! Don't do 1/4th of the game in one turn. Other players would also like to do side-missions.

I did the same mistake in VC Chain Game, where I like lol232 did almost half of the game in one turn. But later it turned out it wasn't fun at all, because there was nothing else to do besides named missions.

I know you want Chain Game to be fast, but I don't want to turn it into "lol232's chance of showing how good GTAIII player he is, by doing as much sh*t in 3 hours as he can".

I'm with lol on this one, if it means breaking our previous record of "fastest round". But only in that case.

I was more talking about my attitude back in those years, not that doing big turns is bad or what not.

I would like to see the fastest round being true...I'll try later to complete most of the side-missions :p

Notes: It will be legal, when i will fail turismo, for getting BP, FP, DP Cheetah? Of course i didn't it.

Yes.

You are allowed to fail a mission in order to collect a Special Vehicle. This is stated in the 'Suggestions' section of the OP:

1. Try to keep the mission failures to minimum. If it is required to fail the mission in order to collect a special vehicle (BP/DP/EP/FP/Unique Color/Unique Vehicle), then the players are free to do so. If a special vehicle has been collected, let everyone know about it in the Notes section.

If the mission failure was nothing more than a result of the player's bad luck, it is recommended for him/her to restart the turn.

So - There's about 15 Chain Game Turns left to take, and if they get completed within 6 Hours and 45 Minutes from this post - Round 41 will be the fastest Chain Game Round Ever.

I'm pretty confident we can do this! :)

Dodo'd my way through the Colombian Cartel.

Out of boredom, I played Grand Theft Aero and I just did this.

I f*cking successfully landed there. I certainly did not expect that even though it was my intention to land there. :p

Listen up, freaks!

As you may know, I took the liberty, of taking the last turn of this chain game! It's been bought to my attention that MANY people wanted to do what I did! Finish the fastest round ever in the chain GAME!

BUT YOU SEE, I'M NOT NORMAL! I'M A GENETIC FREAK, AND I TAKE WHAT I WANT!

THE WORLD HAS TO TURN 47 DEGREES, SO THE STARS CAN TOUCH THE SKY, AND SEE THAT I WAS SENT TO EARTH TO DO GOD'S WORK!

BUT let's be serious for a minute.

I'm gonna be straight, I waited like a motherf*cker to take that last turn. And I knew that at least one person really wanted to take the turn, but considering that there were about 3 guys watching the topic, I guess the numbers are bigger than I thought.

Either way, this won't happen again. I didn't make this possible, you people did. I just savoured the last moment for myself, cause I'm a sneaky sumbitch. Hell I appreciate all the likes I got, even though I guess I pissed off Wildbrick cause he didn't like my post. But then again, I'm not going to lose sleep over that, especially with me not forgetting the video I made about his tiny little favorite car, that was fun.

I know you may hate me now man, but it's gonna get better, I promise.

Either way, drink a beer, have a jack-off, do whatever you want, just know that the person behind the account currently has the same sh*t-eating smirk as his avatar.

So kindly said, I just f*cked you all.

Have a nice day.

Maybe gta san andreas chain game? It's very long game, so no one just do every side misison, every garage etc in 3 hours. Maybe good idea is cut time limit to 1 hour, that may give chance better players to be higher in the rankings, not faster posters.

That's already a thing.

The Chain Game Personnel isn't a 'Ranking' as such, it's simply a list of all Chain Game Players and the amount of Valid and Invalid Turns they have taken over time, with the Chain Game Staff listed separately in the top section.

Having more turns doesn't make you a better player or anything like that.

The 3 Hour Limit is unlikely to be changed for turns, as it has never caused any problems over the past 3 years and is helpful for players who may run into problems or accidentally get busted/wasted, as it gives them enough time to try again.

There is also GTA Vice City chain game but seems to be inactive since 2 years.

Phew.

First of all, that's some damn good progress.

Second of all, may as well play the game yourself this way.

Last turn, lol did the same. But I suppose that's excusable, because you guys were trying to get it done ASAP so the turn can become a record-breaker (still I think he went over the time limit though, but that's not my problem). I've said my opinion before: if these kind of turns are gonna be common, I definitely won't be playing the game.

Mateczko was right; doing stuff like this leaves no one anything to do.

If you're doing this just to show how good you are, you're not doing anyone a favor. This isn't about how much % someone can get done - it's about people working together to finish the game 100%.

Either way, this is mostly not my business, and I'm in no position to tell you or anyone what to do and what not to do, but I believe these kinds of turns are detracting from every other player's experience.

My turn has finished and I haven't done much. Take the next turn and you will have packages and rampages to do ;)

Th3MaN1, I have to agree there with you. In my opinion, if you do 21 things in one (first) turn, that's just too much. If he did it in 10 turns, I would have no problem with it - nobody was interested in this. Maybe there should be rule - you can do one story mission and one side mission in one turn (not counting thins like packages, rampages and stunts). But that is just my opinion, I am not expecting any changes. It was working until now and it will work in the future as well.

It works for sure, but it takes away the fun. After the massive turn, there were about 3 side-missions that could be done (at least for the moment, until everything else can be done). Where does that leave the others? Pretty much nowhere.

Just like you said, it's also my opinion. I've said how I'm not in a position to say what should and shouldn't be done. I just think that this kind of stuff should not be done. This game isn't about showing how much can you complete within 3 hours - it's about completing the game together.
