[V|REL] Realistic Driving V

Recommended Posts

Remix1994PL

Looks great! BTW, how do you like the new update?

Also, one more question. Are you going to swap the engine sounds so the cars will sound like their real-life counterparts do/how their engines are supposed to sound based on their visual appearance. GTA Wikia mentions that for lots of vehicles, like when the engine looks like it's a V12, but sounds like I4, for example.

A good idea. It was nice to hear the real sound of vehicle engines. But I think it is an idea that can begin to be implemented after the release of Realistic Driving V v1.2 / v2.0 as a successor v1.3 / v.2.1.

I have played this game numerous times without internet. I have the Steam version. I should also note that if you have Steam running in offline mode, GTA V runs in offline mode. So you get the offline loading screens and can't play GTA Online.

Engine vehicle sounds are probably in vehicle.meta, not handling.meta.

You are correct. There is a flag called <audioNameHash> which controls it. Strangely, for all of Rockstar's vehicles, the flag looks like <audioNameHash /> and not <audioNameHash>adder</audioNameHash>. It probably knows when the name of the audio is the same as the vehicle name so it defaults to it. But you need to put the vehicle name in there for it to have that audio. Add on cars need to have it specified, otherwise the vehicle will be silent.

i used yesterday's Cockstar downtime to render a new video. Now i have to wait for the 13 hour upload to finish...

The video shows my 'almost final' handlings for Adder, X80, RE-7B, Tyrus and ETR1

on ... wait for it .. . wait for it... a RACETRACK!

Edit: there it is.

creating handling for supercars and sports cars is taking longer than expected. maybe because i go into more detail than originally planned. it took an average of 5+ hours for each of the 19 supercar handlings. thats 100 hours of work. for 19 out of 190 cars. Adding a new DLC vehicle to this mod takes about 1 hour of research and 2 hours of tweaking. So far i have finished handling for 27 cars:

Adder, Banshee2, Bullet, Cheetah, EntityXF, Sheava (ETR1), FMJ, Infernus, Osiris, Pfister811, LE7B (RE-7B), Reaper, SultanRS, T20, TurismoR, Tyrus, Vacca, X80, Zentorno

BestiaGTS, Lynx, Omnis, Seven-70, Tropos, Brioso, XLS, XLS2.

Will one of you handling.meta gurus please post an actual accurate value definition table.

i tried that in the past. But people wouldnt listen. To them there is a "topspeed parameter", a "horsepower parameter", a "drag coefficient parameter" and all you have to do is to go to wikipedia and take the numbers from there, fill them in and TADA you got super realistic handling. There is no point in telling them how it actually works. these people live in LALA Moron Land. Those people send me messages like "your mod sucks, LaFerrari has '210' as topspeed parameter in your mod when its actual topspeed is 370. i had to edit everything myself, you suck." And people get angry when i use '1650' for the weight parameter when the actual vhicle weight according to wikipedia is 1670kg. yes, i wrong, wikipedia right. How about this: WEIGHT HAS NO F*CKING EFFECT ON HANDLING. NONE. now piss off moron and leave me be.

The "GTA handling wiki" websites are all created by thieving morons. doesnt matter whether you look at a GTA SA, GTA IV or GTA V wiki. All those websites have ripped content. everyone stealing from each other and claiming to be the author. None of the people have a f*cking clue how it actually works. Thieves make me angry. Thieves are the reason i am not releasing content anymore. Thieves almost killed this mod. Why would i take days to write down how the parameters actually work when my work would get stolen anyway. Thieves will simply copy paste everything i write and then claim to be the author. and all the morons out there wont read the proper definitions anyway. because reading and understanding is not their thing. i dont work for morons. especially not for unthankful thieving morons.

Whatever happened to just enjoying modding this video game???

I simply asked for the correct handling meta value definitions that the actual game devs used.

If you actually know them.

Is that really too much to ask?

You can't really blame people or call them stupid and all that other negative stuff, when they are just going by GTA 3/IV/V handling meta tutorials posted by other modders.

I mean what novice modder wouldn't know that the mass value doesn't exactly affect acceleration.

I never see anyone claim to be a handling.meta expert anywhere.

People were just posting stuff to the best of thier knowledge right or wrong.

And whats all this talk about stuff being stolen?

Its simple handling value formulas created by Rockstar.

How can someone actually steal this stuff?

The other two handling mods that are even halfway decent are SimCade and Realistic Suspension.

Both of those authors acknowledged the fact that they pretty much used your meta as a guide/baseline and gave you credit.

I see nothing but praise and gratitude from your handling mods and I've been following you since GTAIV.

Why all the negative "Me against the World" moods???

Everyone knows you are the pioneer of improved semi realistic handling lines for GTA series.

watch my "supercars 2.0" video and skip to 8:47

there is a loss in stability when driving over curbs. i cannot make the effect any stronger without messing up tire grip.

Any progress on the update? This is the best handling mod out there. I just gotta use the jet handling from other mods though as propeller planes aren't supposed to be faster than jets.

i finished all 20 supercars (including DLC). i plan to finish all 39 sports cars (incl DLC) and coupes. i wont be able to do handlings for all DLC cars. i created handling for the Desert Raid, XLS, XLS2 and Brioso. other DLC vehicles might be added in a future update.

Creating handling takes between 2 to 6 hours for each car. i manage to do 2 cars a day.

5 days ago: Jester, Jester2, Feltzer

4 days ago: Blista2, Buffalo, Buffalo2, Buffalo3

3 days ago: Alpha, Banshee, Massacro, Massacro2

2 days ago: NineF, Kuruma, Kuruma2

yesterday: Carbonizarre, Coquette, Comet, Elegy2

today: Penumbra, Verlierer

it will be worth the wait.

Each car is getting its own unique handling characteristics, in addition to accurate performance specs. it takes a lot of time and effort. Research takes even longer now that i am modeling proper downforce as well.

new car handlings created from scratch:

Supercars 20/20

Sports cars 28/39

Coupe 8/13

Sedan 18/24

Compact 2/7

preliminary changelog:

New:
-added proper downforce to each individual car. The increase in force/grip closely resembles
that of each car's corresponding real life counterpart.
-new tire grip settings reduce understeer while increasing the need for counter-steer during drifts
-car suspension saves more potential energy during compression, even small bumps will affect handling now
-cars are pushed upwards and suffer minor loss of stabilty when driving over curbs
-wheels can lock up. Removed ABS from several race cars.
-improved collision with foliage (small bushes apply less force to car)
-small AI improvement: normal traffic and racing AI handle sharp turns better.

Changes:
-increased weight transfer during cornering, braking, accelerating
-improved center of mass. Cars are more likely to roll over during collisions and hillclimb
-increased compatibility with story missions.
-fixed faulty tire physics that R* gave the latest DLC cars (meadows and sand offering MORE GRIP than tarmac)
-changed engine and transmission settings of electric cars in order to achieve more realistic acceleration curve.
-adjusted the speed at which some transmissions change gears.
-improved z-axis pivot point coordinates for cars.
-small increase in tire squeal when braking

there is still a lot of work and testing to be done. Will the mod work on outdated game versions? create version with scaled down topspeed?

I'm totally for an optional version with scaled down topspeed. While I understand that people want the realism, and don't want limitations - I like to keep the illusion of map size/scale that is given to the player because of the topspeed limits.

See, I like realistic top speeds. I feel like the map is large with the real top speeds, and more fun to drive around.

Also, map expansions are right around the corner as tools improve.

As for planes, I like their speeds to be relatively realistic because of the top speed limits.
