Putting on a cop suit ( right? ) because you have a clear possibility to fit into that role, but "roleplaying" depends on what tools are given to you.

Like how LCPDFR/LSPDFR actually encourage you doing the similar thing but tons better than simply donning a suit and let your brains process the rest of the *gameplay* aspects with no actual sense or feel because you are simply stuck with a *role* in an attempt of pretending like you are *playing* the same.

What does a serial killer do?

Murders people, and that usually is easy to *roleplay* in any GTA. I don't even need to explain further.

I did not get the rest of your post.

It can be whatever you want it to be. Follow a lone beach goer at night. Tail a hooker that's in a car and murder them when they stop. Go to a roof and begin a sniper massacre. Possibilities are endless.

Dude, I used to play with such endless possibilities even in GTA VC and SA, but I find it much more enjoyable, at this day and age, if modern GTAs don't just roll beautiful open worlds in the same fashion, otherwise what's the difference between GTA SA and V outside graphics?

In fact, SA allows even more interactions than V which was supposed to be the most ambitious game so far in the series.

Today, games need to evolve into giving much sense to your roleplaying moments inside the pretty looks of the maps environment, even after spending hours into roleplaying as you suggest to do.

V certainly has a lot to offer in terms of potential for much more interesting content and player choices, and that's where for me V lacks in certain ways over GTA SA, and it should have blown GTA SA out of the water. I get bored in V due to lack of interesting ( even basic stuff as seen in older games ) tools to play it extensively over longer sessions.

I'd rather mod GTA SA and enjoy the same experience with enough roleplaying variety.

Read - What makes some open world games exceptional, and others boring to understand more.

"Open worlds are too often just glorified 'big spaces'; theyre not worlds, theyre not deep in ways that make it interesting to explore or wander through. Open worlds dont have to be boring, but too often they are - and their existence is used to justify tedious gameplay"

Exactly. Why the f*ck does anyone still play GTA to role play a serial killer ? They'd rather be happy doing that than gang activity, dealing drugs, building a crime empire, etc - I never wrapped my head around that. You kill, kill, kill and then what ? There is no means to an end, except to fulfill your sick serial killer fantasies if you like that stuff. I can understand doing this in something like III, but in V ? Come on.

As for role playing cops ? No not me, not appealing in the slightest - I play GTA to be the bad guy not the good guy.

Great quoted post too, that's exactly how I'd describe V myself.

@ Heists and A.O.D

I really don't see what flying, swimming, driving or parachuting in FPV is gonna do to make me like the feature more. It still don't provide me with more crime-related side missions, better side activities, more interiors, or more advanced ped and gang AI. It's nice to appreciate the beautiful scenery in V from different angles - but I didn't play GTA just to do sightseeing

It obviously doesn't just like those features won't provide a good first person view lol. The intention of FPV isn't to do what you have listed it is there to give the player another angle to experience the stuff you listed.
Well that's just my point mate - it's exactly why I have no interest or see any excitement or appeal in FPV in V. To me it's just another FPS, nothing special and in my opinion was never worth the time, resources, and effort compared to other stuff.

I'm just going to point this out, you got to appreciate that other people wanted and enjoy this feature and that makes it a viable option for R* to put the time, resources and effort into creating it. Just because you don't want it doesn't mean others don't and R* catered to the others this time who have been calling for FPV for a long time and is used throughout the community in both SP and MP.

It's a similar thing with Online, just because you may not happen to like it, does not mean that R* shouldn't put out their resources into making it because it isn't something you enjoy. I don't mean to be rude but it comes across as the "ME, ME, ME" style attitude.

there needs to be dedicated lobbies for first person only.

In any game type you can lock the view to FP.

Though I think a FP freeroam would be cool.

V only helps ( like every other open world game ) in *thinking* that you are able to easily create an illusion of being imaginative in a number of ways since its a fairly detailed world with an interesting potential for you, but its about enjoying a clear and convincing illusion to recognize this creative thoughts into virtual reality by some actual activities or tools through *gameplay* and see it in creative mode of action rather than simply keep fooling yourself into pretending something as some kind of imaginative action taking place on your TV/desktop in your brains.Who the f*ck is stupid enough to waste hundreds of hours in pretending about being imaginative than actually see those creative ideas being reconstructed on screen in order to feel a sense of being inside those illusions through actual f*ckin' roleplaying tools.

For instance, I don't need to pretend in SA that I am roleplaying a burglar as the game gives me the tools to roleplay CJ as the same without wasting my brain cells in stupid imagination than actually play the goddamn thing as a burglar in the game.

Me.

You telling me you've never put on a suit on Niko and drove in the FIB Buffalo and play cop? :p

You haven't put a mask on Trevor and played serial killer?

You haven't replaying The Long Stretch(?) and taken L/Stretch into rival hoods?

You haven't gone on a speedboat with Michael and listen to LRR like an edgelord?

I simply agreed with what Osho said, it's just an expression of my taste with someone that has similar tastes to mine. Now if you don't like it then don't read it. Anyway what's your beef ? You V guys got your COD/Splinter Cell/The Sims/retirement simulator and guys like me and Osho didn't get want we wanted. All we can do is moan, but you are happy with what you got at the end of the day, so I don't see why you should think my "me me me" attitude even matters to you at all. Edited by Official General

Who said it matters to me? Just pointing out an observation. For me when I don't get a feature in a game that I'd want at the expense of something else I appreciate that there are other people who wanted it. I don't state it was a waste of development resources to concentrate effort into the feature I didn't want, because I understand that there are more people who wanted a particular feature than the one/one's I wanted.

@Official General: I think Rockstar should add 2nd person and 4th person views to GTA VI.

I remember being disappointed with the optical attachments for weapons on last-gen. I thought you'd be able to use a red dot sight in first person, just like in Max Payne 3. Nope, instead the camera slightly zooms in when you aim.

Thankfully, first person changed that.

Who else thinks Rockstar should give us a laser attachment with our color of choice? It'd be cool using one in a nighttime firefight.

Rockstar has really taken this game off-course. Seriously what happened to GTA being a crime game ? I mean just look at what ridiculous thoughts and ideas it has conjured up from its own fan base.

You do realize they are talking about laser sights right? Which are traditionally used as an accuracy boost. Infact, they can be seen in a few screenshots. Probably replaced by the grip attachment.

Heists said' " lasers alone would be cool" - what else was that supposed to mean then ? If I read it wrong then it's strange because my response was exactly according to what he said, unless I missed something, but I can't see how.

Laser guns are the stuff of futuristic space action movies, it would look so out of place in a game about real-life crime and action. It would be heading down the COD Advanced Wafare route, that's already ruined that already played out series.

EDIT: Also when I said "Lazers alone would be cool" I meant the lazer pointers you use in your hands, could be cool as another way to point at things Online or to just shine as far as possible.

Killing things looks and sounds more brutal in first person. You hear things more, the screams of the victims. You see the facial expressions, they look like they're in pain sometimes, eyes rolling back into their heads. Could potentially disturb people.

Or it's just a game, what you're shooting at is programming shaped like a human, comparable to the turtles in Mario whos head you jump on which is also quite horrible when you think about it. They're just a different shape. If you're a role player, listening to peds talking on the phone, about seeing their kids, wife or husband, or just talking to them may give them some sort of personality, which may make it even more disturbing shooting them through the eyes of Trevor probably.

Demonstration.

I like first person view. Using it on my 2nd play through on PS4. Its more immersive with auto aim off, you actually have to use the cover system and wait to shoot. Also really enjoy driving. I wreck a lot less swerving in and out of traffic in FPV. Although backing out of Aunt Denises garage and into the street is a real bitch.

Not really impressed to be honest. To me it just looks like another generic FPS, and I've seen it all before in such games. Don't get me wrong it looks like it's fun, but when it comes to GTA, it's just not something that interests of excites me regarding gameplay. I play GTA for the third-person view exclusively, no amount of insane FPS action would change that, so this video does not appeal to me.

Yeah. But, it comes at a cost of sliggt downgrade in vehicle damage and I think even features they could have worked upon during that time to bring some slight interesting gameplay element than cool, immersive and "nothing new" about FPV into V when many people didn't even care on LG versions about first person mode and still played the game.

What many people were hoping from Rockstar with NG are new content additions to the game world.
