How do you settle a helicopter?

When trying to land a helo it still wants to go in whatever direction it was. I know, law of motion and all of that.

I know very little about helos, and not sure how this compares to a real one, if that matters.

But isint there a break? A hover mode, tell it to stop moving and just stand still hovering?

I find landing them is the hardest part. and im on PC version.

People still land? I usually just jump out. If the heli survives, i blow it up.

Just pull the nose up until it stays still. Gently lower the chopper then. Done.

I just finished the mission on Michael for Solomon where i gotta shake up the 2 guys in the helo then land in the water tank.

Landing there was a pain. Even when i did it wasent a soft landing. i skidded about half the water tank lol.

Fly it straight into the road, nose first, and then walk out like a boss, all Terminator-like and sh*t.

Hold L2, slam into the ground, be a man, who needs glass windows in a helicopter anyway?

EDIT: Oh you're on PC, well hold whatever button makes it descend

whatever way it's going, bring it the opposite way to level it out. You have to constantly correct until you land. The heli movements are exaggerated compared to real life, but its similar. I had trouble with helis the first week I played, but now I don't even notice.

Helicopters in V are nauseating, tbh. I don't have problems like this, but the constant rocking back and forth makes me not want to fly them...Ever.

Tip: I prefer planes over helis

How is that a tip? That's more of an opinion.

Just press decent soft and slowly and also keep your hand of the analog stick moving it causes a shift in momentum.

Why do people find so hard using air vehicles in this game? Specially helicopters? It's so easy.

I know the new camera panning along with how the airplanes and helis pans in flight can cause nausea(happenned to me until I got used to it), but landing is not that hard, really.
Just descend until you make sure you're like, a car of distance above the ground, then slam it, if your heli don't survive this then it wouldn't last any longer anyway.

Just flare it. Come in at a slight angle so that you'd impact the ground where you want to land, and when you're at an appropriate height, pull back so that you cancel your forward movement. That'll put you into a relatively stationary hover. Then just L2 until you land.

it mostly is, therefor every self-respecting pc gamer should have a joystick just for flying

I use an Xbox 360 Controller when flying helicopters on my PC copy of GTA IV. :)

Dont be afraid to just pull the nose WAAYYYY up. GTA wont really punish you for it and it will kill all your speed.

Not saying do this everytime you land. But letting you know that it wont damage the chopper or crash you or anything. So go ahead if required.

I really hate the way the heli's view (far behind) makes it look like it's hanging on a bungee cord, bouncing up and down .. It makes me ****** dizzy!

Bring back the heli's performance from VC. :miranda:

To slow down - Elevate the helicopter while pulling back to raise the nose. Try not to over do it. (I usually tap the elevation trigger and tap back repeatedly to avoid going into reverse)

Slowly decrease elevation and let natural gravity take over when just above the ground. Make slight adjustments left and right to keep it steady. (change camera view if needed and take care that your tail rotor doesn't hit an obstacle on the way down)

Oh yeah, watch your head when you get out.
