WINDSOR vs. EXEMPLAR: The Real Skinny

If all you care about is high performance, get yourself an Exemplar and shut up.

It boggles my mind how all people care about here are 0-60 times and how light and sharp a car handles. Does the Exemplar handle better? For what it's supposed to be, it handles good. The Windsor handles good too for what it is. Here's why. They're both classed as coupes but that is such a broad term. The Exemplar is basically a four door Rapid GT and it's supposed to be just as sporty even though it has added weight and length. It is a good car to drive. But I wouldn't buy one. I think the rear is unbelievably hideous and I hate the way it sounds. And it's just not my type of car.

So why would I get the Windsor? Because it's a land yacht. And it's built to be a land yacht. In no way shape or form was this car made to be a performer. Period. It's big, it's heavy, it feels like you're operating a boat around the corners, and it smooths out bumps in the road as if it were to have butter in it's suspension. And I like that. I like everything about it. It's a car that's been made for pure cruising and posing. It's a personal luxury coupe. It's made to get you to your destination as relaxed and as good looking as possible. It's made for relaxed trips up to Paleto or photoshoots at the Richman Mansion. Prowling around Rodeo or sitting in a mansion's driveway. It does have power, you can feel the torques when you mash on the throttle but my point still stands that it's not intended for performance.

So the verdict? It comes down to preference. There is no objectively better car when it comes to these two, they're made for two different people. If all you care about is driving fast then get the Exemplar. If you love cruising and Rolls Royces and weighted steering and plush suspensions, get yourself a Windsor. I'm the latter and I'm the proud owner of one:

I have yet to regret my purchase. :^:

This couldn't have been said any better! I quite enjoy my Windsor. I've won all the races I ever needed to so having a coupe in my garage other than the Windsor is worthless to me. I prefer my sports classics.

And a side note, the Exemplar looks like a dust buster.

Wow, really?

LOL Non-skilled racers think that the Zion isn't the best in it's class for technical tracks. LOL

It has nothing to do with 'skill' as I'm pretty sure I'm experienced. It has everything to do with preference. The Zion may be the best performer on paper in it's class but that doesn't mean crap. It still feels like the steering wheels connected to the wheels via cement and I've still had more fun driving a Felon or a Windsor.

You kids kills me. Everything's about stats, everything's about 0-60 times, everything's about top speed. Nobody gives a sh*t about steering feel or the way the car makes you feel or it's unique personality or any of that, that gibberish I guess. Am I right? It's sad. This racing bullsh*t has really f*cked sh*t up hasn't it?

I couldn't give any less of a sh*t about racing, I like spirited driving. One of my favorite cars right now is the Carbonizzare. Not because of the top speed, not because of the acceleration, and not because of how sharp it corners compared to other cars. I like it because it looks the part, has a fully retractable top, and I can simply hop in it and have fun. The steering isn't objectively perfect. So what? It's fun, it's direct, and it goes wherever you point it in the funnest way possible. There's oversteer. So what? Who enjoys cars but hates oversteer? Who? I've seen people complain about this.

All people care about are spec sheets. Oh which car is the fastest, which car has the highest speed? Everything's about bloody racing.

I see that you don't quite get it/understand on why certain cars in this game are better than others and it has NOTHING to do with the stats that you see on "paper". It has everything to do with IN-GAME PLAY.

people are so easely offended

im reffering to country's like south-africa and sh*t, places that are simply overrun by aids and hiv

it has nothing to do with race, it has to do with facts, again, please stop being butthurt.

i do not feel the need to avoid facts, even if people find them offensive for whatever reason that doesn't make sence.

I got the Windsor expecting it to be relatively slow (compared to the others in it's class) and heavy, and that is what I got. Maybe it is because of my experience with racing/driving simulation games, but I got what I was expecting.

Sting4S gets it right, this is a vehicle of Luxury, not a sports car. You don't get on a Yacht expecting it to go as fast as a speedboat, and so on.

I have no regrets in purchasing it.

Makes it handle like a boat.

lol. I understand how a basic concept like weight affects a car. If you don't then you shouldn't be commenting on cars and their performance in regards to it. If you "don't see any disadvantage" to weight then you're pretty ignorant on the matter. Weight always affects handling. Weight distribution affects handling. How high the center of gravity does too. It's a concept that even a novice on the subject should be aware of.

The stats on the sites in the game are straight bullsh*t and are not indicative of performance at all. Regardless of that, they're all straight line measurements which don't mean sh*t for anything other than driving in a straight line. A car with a slower 0-60 time can also have enough power output to overtake something with a faster 0-60 time where it starts to lose out and not put out enough to keep up the acceleration so even that means sh*t all pretty much.

I make one comment about the stats being sh*t in the game and meaningless and that people not understanding how weight affects a car shouldn't be commenting on it and you think it means I'm ignorant on the subject. Shows what you know.

Wrong. Weight doesn't change the way a car handles (IN GTA 5). For example if you took any car, edited the weight to be 100x higher, it wouldn't make any difference, except that you would ram everything out of your way without the car stopping.

This is a game, not a simulator, it's the way it is.

Of course in real life if you decide to fill trunk of your car using concrete it won't move as easily.

Get some actual experience with handling editing in GTA games before posting this ignorant comment.

EDIT: It's just your mind that you think the weight has to do something with handling in GTA 5, while it in fact does nothing, it all depends on traction values and sometimes suspension too.

Racing in GTA sucks, in general. Who cares about 0-60. You'll be put into the wall or traffic by the time you reach 40.

The Windsor is built like a land yatch in a game where I can't actually experience its luxury.

That raises an interesting point. In games like this, there are certain things where it feels like you can enjoy them to their fullest extent whilst there are some things that just lose their novelty factor real quick because you can't truly experience them.

For instance; you buy a small Cessna-based plane and you can enjoy it, it's fun and simple. But then you buy a multimillion dollar jet and you're stuck in the not very well appointed cockpit. You can't enjoy it's luxurious interior at all. And on top of that, it's not like it's the fastest/best handling plane in the game. So it just kind of sucks.

For me, with cars like the Windsor, it's easy for me to get immersed I mean you can sort of experience what it has to offer interior-wise if you have PC/PS4/One (it also helps that I'm obsessed with cars) but other than that, you just sort of, well, drive it. You have to realize that cars like the Windsor are built for ultimate comfort, not handling. Plush suspensions, soft and well appointed seats, cool gadgets, dual-paned windows for a quiet ride, and that sort of heartwarming scent you get from hand-built luxury cars. Out of all of those aspects of a floaty luxury land yacht, you can only really experience the silence part... by turning your music up and SFX down.

So perhaps that's why the Windsor results in mixed feelings. I mean I still love it for what it is but to others it's just a slow coupe that feels heavy, what more is there to experience? Looks wear off after a while, they can only get you so far. I guess it depends on how you see it and how you get immersed when you drive the cars in this game or any game that includes cars for that matter. Turn10Studios added the Rolls Royce Wraith to Forza Motorsport 5 and it left me shaking my head in bewilderment like Jeremy Clarkson would, asking myself "What for?" I mean it's a pointless car on the track. What boggled my mind more was how they didn't reserve it for Forza Horizon 2, where you would basically be able to enjoy it more. On a track it's just a boat. On a beautiful winding road touring from Castelletto to Nice listening to 18th century orchestras, it's pure heaven.

You're right. I should be more sensitive about my posts.

Heaven forbid I might offend a player's emotional connection to the way their car makes them feel or the car's unique personality.

In the future, I'll be sure to line all my posts with forewarnings regarding content and that candles and incense may be required before reading. And maybe a hot bath with salts and a cup of lavender tea.

Good grief!

This was a quite funny thread.. Just read the op claiming the exemplar to be top of coupe class when it isn't remotely competitive in coupe class. Strange.

The Zion annihilates the exemplar, the felon is faster than exemplar but slower than Zion

I'm yet to be beaten by a Zion, even by a skilled racer. Just nope.

The Zion is so much faster than an Exemplar it isn't even funny. The Zion is faster than most the cars in sports class.
