WINDSOR vs. EXEMPLAR: The Real Skinny

So, I bought the Dewbauchee Exemplar early in the game from Legendary Motorsports for about $300,000 with all upgrades.

I've loved the look and performance of it since the day I got it. I only use it in Coupe races, as it's in my "one from every class garage."

That is to say, I don't use it very often as Coupe races are rare.

Tonight, after reading the stats of the new Enus Windsor (the one with the new vehicle wraps), I decided it was time to change.

However, the first thing I learned is that you cannot sell the Exemplar back. I had no idea. I know I've checked in the past and it always seems like it was an option, so if anyone has an idea why we can't sell it now, I'd be curious to know.

Regardless, I got the Windsor and immediately maxed out the upgrades, costing about $950,000 (post upgrades), then took her on the road.

Exemplar stats: 6 liter :: 420 hp :: 182 mph :: 0-60 in 4.9 seconds

Windsor stats: 6.6 liter V12 :: 656 hp :: 190 mph :: 0-60 in 4.2 seconds

Unfortunately, the stats above, in my opinion, are spinach and just not accurate.
The Windsor drives exactly like an upgraded Super Diamond, with perhaps a bit more enthusiasm where it counts.

What that means is, that the Exemplar continues to be, in my opinion, the dominant car in the Coupe class, with better handling, performance, responsiveness, and top speed than any other Coupe, including the Windsor.

How disappointing. But what was more disappointing, more than finding out I can sell the Exemplar (which I'm happy to keep now), is that the sell-back for a fully upgraded Windsor is a mere $670,000. It's like selling your new copy of GTAV to Gamestop for $4, while they sell it for $49.

Anyhow, just wondering what other people's impressions are of both the Windsor and the Exemplar, am I missing something?

For now, I'll continue to keep the Exemplar and may consider dumping the Windsor, despite how it looks, for a $230,000 loss. <sigh>

Cheers!

I'd take the stats with a grain of salt, they've never been accurate.

You should've known by now that the stats aren't accurate.

EDIT: lemme rephrase, the stats are accurate but they don't mean sh*t in game.

The Windsor's looks are worth $1,000,000 imo

The rear wheel well turns me off on the Winsor, but that wrap and rims are MINT! Well done.

Holdings off on the Winsor until part two, driving around my Super Dimond in the mean time.

Yes, you're missing a Zion. Put it on any track with some corners and it will beat the exemplar. The exemplar looks better though.

The Zion with a spoiler will destroy any coupe race. That being said, I believe the Windsor justifies its price tag (to me) because it's gorgeous and it's a perfect cruiser. Did you really expect a car based on a 5300 lb luxury land yacht to be good at racing?

I have both, atm, but I don't see the Windsor replacing my Exemplar anytime soon.

The Windsor's handling feels too slippery for my tastes. Even without engine mods I found it difficult to control.

I'm not an Exemplar man, however. My coupe of choice will always be the F620.

I'd take the stats with a grain of salt, they've never been accurate. If they were its not going mean the Windsor is faster as the big engine accommodates for the weight of the Windsor and I can tell its heavy when I do high speed turns in medium speed corners

You most likely can't sell the Exemplar as it was purchased pre-patch in which it allowed you to sell vehicles over $50K.

In GTA weight doesn't affect acceleration and top speed, neither handling, Windsor weights nearly 3 tones. Judging by handling stats, Windsor has more power, but Exemplar is more grippy. Windsor will win at highway races, Exemplar at any race with cornering.

Exactly 100% this.

The extra mass (it's quite a bit more) is both an advantage and disadvantage. Zion is still better for races, but the manual shifter noise seems to have gone on my one.

If we ever get property four, Windsor will be my new favourite drift car...For now, exemplar is king of the coupes

The in game stats on the websites are numbers taken from the real life counterpart of those cars (or more or less the real life counterpart)

The Windsor has the highest top speed than the Exemplar but that thing handles like sh*t. I prefer the sound if the Exemplar as well.

If all you care about is high performance, get yourself an Exemplar and shut up.

It boggles my mind how all people care about here are 0-60 times and how light and sharp a car handles. Does the Exemplar handle better? For what it's supposed to be, it handles good. The Windsor handles good too for what it is. Here's why. They're both classed as coupes but that is such a broad term. The Exemplar is basically a four door Rapid GT and it's supposed to be just as sporty even though it has added weight and length. It is a good car to drive. But I wouldn't buy one. I think the rear is unbelievably hideous and I hate the way it sounds. And it's just not my type of car.

So why would I get the Windsor? Because it's a land yacht. And it's built to be a land yacht. In no way shape or form was this car made to be a performer. Period. It's big, it's heavy, it feels like you're operating a boat around the corners, and it smooths out bumps in the road as if it were to have butter in it's suspension. And I like that. I like everything about it. It's a car that's been made for pure cruising and posing. It's a personal luxury coupe. It's made to get you to your destination as relaxed and as good looking as possible. It's made for relaxed trips up to Paleto or photoshoots at the Richman Mansion. Prowling around Rodeo or sitting in a mansion's driveway. It does have power, you can feel the torques when you mash on the throttle but my point still stands that it's not intended for performance.

So the verdict? It comes down to preference. There is no objectively better car when it comes to these two, they're made for two different people. If all you care about is driving fast then get the Exemplar. If you love cruising and Rolls Royces and weighted steering and plush suspensions, get yourself a Windsor. I'm the latter and I'm the proud owner of one:

I have yet to regret my purchase. :^:

"Can't sell the Exemplar"? It was highly likely that it's a dupe. I've sold 3 vehicles after this update.

The Zion outperforms both of your options.

The Zion is a piece of crap. It looks great but that's it. It isn't fast and the way it handles is so mundane, I'd feel less iffy by calling it a vacuum cleaner. Sure doesn't feel like a car at all. And it's based on the M6, it's should at least be fast, let alone have a V10 and sound like heaven. But it's neither of those. It's just a basic econobox to get you from point A to point B looking like you own a performance car when you don't.

Get a Schwartzer.

It's about preference as well. If you have two drivers with almost identical skill level in regards to one specific track and one of them is in a Zion, the Zion driver will most certainly win. It being a piece of crap is a matter of pure opinion. You say it looks great, I say it looks hideous. That rear is hideous.

I don't think any cars are an exact replica of their real life life counterpart aesthetically or performance wise.
