Gore & Dismemberment Mod

Hi everyone I would like to start modding project to create a mod to be able to dismember bodies like in GTA 3 gore cheat. I'm sick of complaining about no one ever creating this mod in GTA games.

 

Im serious about putting some serious time into this, but I need help. I want to gather people who know about separation points in models. I tried to contact the brilliant modder who created the deadly mutilation mod in skyrim but I have not heard back. But from his work we now know it's possible to separate models when the game wasn't designed for it.

 

My friend and I have put some serious thought into this. We know it's far too much work to make every model in GTA 5 have separation points. Instead and this will be a bit controversial but we will just concentrate on the police model for now. Since they show up all the time you will plenty of opportunities to indulge in dismemberment pleasure :p Need people to join us and suggestions are welcomed! Imagine the potential of this mod eventually we want to create car accident gore and high spped collisions. Imagine going 80 mph splating limbs and guts all over the highway!

 

If anyone knows anyone who worked on games that deal with dismemberment, I'd love to talk to you!

This sounds interesting. Although dismemberment is not native to GTA V, you can probably take advantage of the separate drawable mesh that the peds come in. The drawback is this gives you limited separation points. I don't think there is a way to set certain parts of a ped drawable's alpha - however, you can set the ped's alpha, no problem. When a dismemberment action event happens (accident or explosion, etc..) you can make the main ped disappear and "spawn" dead peds with just only their parts visible. It would give the illusion of dismemberment. This would work great with explosions. Not sure about parts dismemberment but this may be a short term milestone.

Ffzero:This is genius! I have noticed alot of animation is actually a trick of the eye. I was thinking to further expand on your idea.. would it be possible to draw 5 different models and stack on top of each other? Then make each model only show one limb right arm, left arm, etc set opacity to 0%? Then for example let's say there's an explosion from the rocket launcher. It hits the 5 fused cop model and depending how close to the limb in the mesh, it tells the model to fly say 50 ft up in air... if bullet is 0.5 ft near copmodel4.right arm. Basic if else statement. In reality it's one cop model separated from the 5. In this case the cop model with right arms opacity is set to 100%. In reality the whole body is flying in the air, but you only see the arm. Would you be intrested with helping us? You sound like your very knowledgeable of meshes and models. We would love to have you join our team! :D

If anything, I think people should start off with trying to upgrade those painted on, 2D texture bullet wounds, and somehow getting RDR/MP3 bullet wounds into V. Maybe even getting that headshot effect from "The Wrap Up" to appear on every NPC.

I wish I could help further but I am more of a flyby coder/modder.

 

I took a look through the natives DB and did not find how to set alpha for the parts themselves. You may need to see if you can add alpha maps to the textures and make parts disappear that way (when SET_PED_COMPONENT_VARIATION is called).

I totally understand man you have gave us some good input already. Would you be be able to email me the file paths where these files are located? Thats one of the challenging parts of modding finding the specific files that control what you want to mod.

@CP: Good suggestion that would be alot easier project to accomplish in the short term. I'd be a bit satisfied with bullet holes, at least it displays more of the power of the weapon then the way it is currently. I actually think there's quite a few people who already made a mod for that and more blood too. He's working on the bullet holes I believe...
