GTA 5 Stuttering Issue [Help]

Yes!

My issue is the exact same as NikoB. It's not a frequent stutter, but like a jump.

It does not matter which graphics settings you use, either.

I'm having the same problem. I'm using an EVGA GTX 780 6GB. running at a sexy 60 FPS but I get these horrible micro stutters. Almost like the stutters I got when I bought Fallout New Vegas. The only way to fix it was downloading a program. I hope this situation doesn't come to that because quite honestly this should be Rockstar's responsibility not ours.

Second answer to my ticket:

Marcus J., Jun 17, 10:33:
Hello NYPD.55,
As fellow gamers, we do understand your concern and we apologize for the inconvenience caused to you in this regard. We request you verify all game files and re-download any that are corrupt or missing.
To do this:
Hit "Start", "Run", and type "cmd" without the quotes. Hit enter.
Type "cd c:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V" without the quotes in the cmd window that pops up. Hit enter. -Note: If you’ve installed the game to a different directory, enter that directory instead.
Type "GTAVLauncher.exe -verify" in this window (no quotes again) and hit enter.
Please keep us updated once you try the above steps, so that we can investigate further if the issue is not fixed.
Best regards,
Marcus J.

I had this problem but it's gone.

The three things causing it were Shadows - turned them to sharp or you might get away with soft.

Grass - down from very high to high.

Biggest problem of all - nvidia experience. Uninstalled it - no more stutter.

From what i understand, fraps and afterburner can also be culprits in some instances.

(running 2 X 980 GTX's)

Hope this helps at least one of you.

Are you playing in windowed or windowed borderless mode? If you are, try switching to fullscreen. I noticed that my game stops stuttering when I play in fullscreen.

Bullsh*t response -.-

Pretty much any response from customer support is gonna be a bull sh*t response. The games broken flat out. verifying the game won't help either. Why would the files be missing or corrupt? Answers like that are basically just what they put when not even them know what to do. Kind of like going to the apple store and saying your phone is messed up and them saying, have you tried turning it off and then back on?

i have copied my post from another thread on this same topic.

http://gtaforums.com/topic/802323-my-gta-5-seems-abit-laggy/

THIS MAY OR MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU ALL, IDK. I SEEM TO HAVE HAD SUCCESS WITH THIS FIX.

My Windows 7 is set to best performance, i.e. Aero turned off, etc. My Windows7 looks basic (like from Win98 or something) but runs very well.

I built my Rig for gaming and while i prolly don't NEED to have this setting, i find my whole system does in fact run smoother like this. i only have an i5 so processing is somewhat lacking on my system. Unfortunately i cannot afford to dump all my Munnies into some three screen rig and had to make do with what i could afford.

Anyways, i believe this option is entirely preference and some may prefer to have pretty, shiny Windows, which is of course just fine.

Now, all that being said, i have found a fairly decent "fix" to get a bit more FPS and performance when running GTA V. what i am about to explain has given me a significant boost, one that is noticeable and easy to do....

I haven't seen a lot of this so i thought i would explain as i too have had issues with stuttering since the Ill Gotten Gains update.

Boot up GTA V

While booting, open Task Manager (Ctl, Alt, Delete)

In TM, under Processes, first right click the GTA V Launcher process and select "priorities". Set this process to LOW Priority

Next, once the actual game is loading, find the GTA V (just the .exe, not the launcher) process and follow the same procedure to set this process to HIGH priority.

Additionally, you may find other processes in the Task Manager list that you may want to "END" to possibly provide a bit more performance for the game. Personally, on my system i have found processes for Spotify, backup options for my external HD, and various other processes running that i could definitively say i was not using while gaming. All in all, i have about 5 processes that i can close out of TM and get a noticeable difference when running GTA V. Hooray....

Of course this may or may not work for you, i happened to stumble across some random thread that advised to try this and again i have had success in my attempts.

Lastly, while tinkering in TM i also discovered a process called explorer.exe. Thinking this was related mainly to Internet browsing i tried ending this process as well....this may be the biggest help i have found to getting smooth gameplay, but it comes with a price. If i close this process down, i no longer have access to my task bar and as i hide my desktop i can't really access anything other than alt tabbing between programs that are open. I do this at night when i know i will not be using my rig for anything other that GTA V and again i believe this "fix" is the greatest boon to my performance.

As i stated above, i have noticed significant stuttering since the last big update and the Task Mangr fix seems to help a lot. I can only hope this helps you in your problem, unfortunately i am at work and don't have access to my system specs atm. wishing you luck, OP. truly.*

*This of course applies to everyone. wishing you all much success.

Thanks for the replies, so far none of the suggestion from you guys works....

But there's something which works for me is to make the In game Vsync to Half, it locks my FPS to 30, but the stuttering is gone somehow, Lol now my GTA 5 has a peasant FPS XDD

Btw if you end explorer.exe you can enable it again by simply clicking on Task Manager->File->New Task->then type explorer.exe

Sleepy Dude

this fixed it for me, I just have my antivirus and graphics drivers allowed:

Hello ------------,

We are terribly sorry for any delay in response. We understand your concern regarding the FPS drops as well as stuttering issues. We kindly request you to test your PC in the Clean boot mode, this method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps:

Click the "Start" Button, type "msconfig" in the search bar and press Enter.
Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System".

Like "Sleepy Dude" explained, there is a program that interferes with GTAV, and everyone in this thread has it.

This is weird...

Make a commandline.txt in install directory, and put -scOfflineOnly in it.

problem solved.

rockstar added a sh*tty anti-cheater drm in the 16mb patch and broke the game.

Hello parthurnax3,

Thank you for contacting Rockstar Support again.

Unfortunately your Laptop does not meet the minimum specifications, as I stated in my previous email to you. And no Rockstar does not support Intel Graphic Cards. The site that you sent me the link to is not a Rockstar Supported Site, this site may not have reliable information. Your last email you stated you have NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 745M which has 2GB memory, this is not enough memory to run GTAV, you need at least 4GB to run GTAV. Sorry for this news as I know this is frustrating.

Please contact Rockstar Technical Support if you have any questions or concerns.

Best regards,

Kris D.

Rockstar Support

Rly? you need 4gb graphics card to run gta5??

My system is mediocre but GTA V was running fine before the latest patch. After patching it was almost unplayable, I kept reducing my graphics settings but it was making no difference at all. I blocked GTA V and GTA V Launcher in windows firewall and all the stuttering stopped.

SInce then though, I had to unblock it as I was just finishing a play through & had got to the assasinations and needed to accesses several bawsaq stocks, however, when I allowed GTA V through the firewall the terrible stuttering immediately after the patch has gone.

My system...

AMD phenom II x6 1090T (3.2 ghz)

8gb RAM (1333mhz)

nVidia GTX 660 ti 4gb (underclocked by 70mhz using Afterburner, otherwise it crashes)

Spinning disks (defragged)

Pagefile is manually managed (defragged & continuous)

Note the mid-spec grfx card. If you are struggling with stutter using a GTX970/80 try blocking GTA from your network.

Update: Tested in Watch Dogs, still stutters, i figured this out, seems like whenever i run any games with my dedicated gpu, it stutters, so i change GTA 5 settings in nvidia control panel to run with integrated gpu, and the stutter is gone, literally, soo, sorry to dissapoint, guys, seems like i have a completely different issue here.

Still though, no solutions have worked for me so far, i'm so lost, i would be so glad if someone could help me regarding this dual graphics card issue, is there something that maybe both of my gpu is interfering each other? or any software? i don't knoww anymore, i even reinstalled my windows.

I think this issue revolves around the online stocks and the online anti-cheat system being loaded in Single player, which leads to the stuttering occurring there as well.

This is why blocking GTA V with Windows Firewall and using the command -scOfflineOnly works.
