Cudwieser
Anyone still playing TDU2? Do you think it has matured compared to some newer games or should it fade into obscurity?
AboveAndBeyoncé
This game was good and nice for the most part especially the dealerships but the handling for some cars were beyond unreal and lame I took this game back after a while I couldn't take it no more..interior views were cool too Edited June 13, 2015 by AboveAndBeyoncé
B Dawg
I heard the handling was utter crap, so I kept on playing TDU1. Sunrise Driver
TheOneLibertonian
The game was good and I liked the social aspect of that game, but however it was a total letdown and a glitchfest. TDU1 was a lot better game IMO.
OurJud
It was a travesty when compared to the original. They had five years to work on this sequal and managed to make it inferior on pretty much every level.

Anyway I didn't mind it however I did enjoy the first one more from what I remember. RogerWho
Aerovitia
It's like comparing V to IV, really. And yes, I enjoyed the first TDU more. Still, TDU2 are (technically) better than TDU1. Edited June 13, 2015 by NikoB08

Aerovitia
TDU1: - Better vehicles diversity and variants (had Lamborghinis & bikes, the former didn't appeared on TDU2) - A bit better physics (not too much, but still noticeable, IMO) - No clichy storyline (basically a proto GTAO) - More suitable BGM (not on Sony version though) - Better menu navigation, no forced FPS navigation (which gives me motion-sickness) TDU2: - Working active aero and convertible roof - SUVs - Forza-like livery making - Dynamic weather and time system - Ibiza, sometimes

OysterBarron
Tdu2 was fun but the technical issues with online killed it for me and mates (also killing eden studios in the process). I've played it every now and again in recent years but to me it just feels very dated to me now and racing feels pretty floaty. I think for me this is one game to just be fondly remembered for all the promises and half arsed delivery of promises and features and countless hours haunting the Tdu2 forums slating the devs for the sh*t job they did. Well at least the casino half worked I spent so much time on those slot machines it was the most functional part of the game. Nico
TDU2 was terrible compared to the original. The handling was pretty bad (TDU1's handling and physics aren't the best either but is much more playable at least) and it didn't had a custom radio to add your own MP3's. Not to mention the boring storyline and the poor car selection. And the goddamn driving schools. I mean, why the hell I need a special license to drive a classic car? The livery maker was a very good feature and the Ibiza map wasn't bad though. Having two maps is better than just one, but TDU1 is still a better game IMO. As far I know, TDU1 creator (which also worked on The Crew, recently) didn't wanted to make a sequel and he left Eden Games. A thing I don't like about both games, is how the car classes are organized. In TDU1 with megapack you have a Lambo Countach in the group D, when this car it's fast enough to be in the C or B class. And the classic cars being in their own group wasn't a good decision either. Edited June 15, 2015 by Nico Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Mister Pink
I really enjoyed TDU2 except for the fact that I was always reminded of how great the game could have been. I really don't know if they were taking the piss with the voice acting or if they were serious, lol. The ideas the have behind the game is fantastic. I know if I had that sort of game when I was a kid it would have been the best game ever.. The idea of cruising top speed down a highway in a very fast sports car on a free-roam map is really appealing. I just hope they have a go at TDU 3 but bring some experience people on board to make them realise their ambitions. It is a really ambitious game but really bogged down by awful voice acting, strange driving and a few other things. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TQLS7cGvyY RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)
unbid
I only play TDU2. So far, my complaints are between the islands are too hollow, repetitive (building wise), the streets are too empty, some cars handle like sh*t (especially when you get into the Viper), the human NPC in the game seems lifeless, and the radio stations that make me wanna bash the music director's head to the wall. Besides all of that, I like the gimmicks like retractable roofs and command-able indicators, the vehicles selections are pretty good (you can own a 2CV and Beetle alongside your Zonda), and the stunning countryside scenery (not the towns or city. It's very hollow and lifeless). And this game pretty much develop my love towards Jaguar E-Type, Lancia Stratos, and Ferrari California. AboveAndBeyoncé
I wish a game developer studio picked this game up assuming they have the rights to the franchise first but it would be really cool if they could do that
Gnocchi Flip Flops
Very disappointing, last time I played it was 2012. It just feels so dead and I couldn't get over how bad the handling was and how good this game could've been if they would've tried. I wish Turn10 would've picked up on the TDU series or at least used some of it's ideas in Horizon. The way you could choose what color cockpit you wanted has always thrilled me. I love stuff like that. I hate how car games today only give you black interiors with no option of changing them. Payne Killer
EddieMeduza
This thread is a year old, I know but I'm still interested in whats going on with this game. I remember when I baught this hame, never played the 1:version I realy loved this game, the way you can walk into the Ferrari dealer, choose what rims, interior and exterior-color... (Something we need in GTA:O) Has anyone seen anything by the creators about the game? Atari, Eden..? The TDU-forums are also still down after like 3 years, what the hell? OysterBarron
It's just dead and I don't think that atari in its current state will be able to resurrect it! All you can do now is visit the grave once a year and put some fresh flowers down.
B Dawg
Damn TDU2 was horrible. It was the TDU equivalent of GTA TBOGT or V, filled with sh*tty, annoying characters constantly calling you, weird driving (or at least the constantly moving camera made it feel weird), driving schools to unlock licenses (this isn't Gran Turismo) along with terrible radio stations. The first game was perfection. The only thing TDU2 has over it is having 2 huge islands instead of just one. Nico
I totally forgot about this thread. People say that TDU2 city ambient is very dead, but that could also apply to the first game, it didn't had NPCs walking on the sidewalks either. The only thing TDU2 has over it is having 2 huge islands instead of just one.Don't forget the interactive roofs and the livery editor. But other than that, yes, the first game is better. Daz
This game was f*cking win. It did have utterly sh*t driving physics, so forget all about drifting or having any nice bouncy suspension. But what it did good was going super fast and in a straight line. It is easily the driving game I have sunk most hours into aside from the driver series. You can lose yourself in a trance just bombing it down a stretch on hawaii in a veyron or GT-R. It had the MMO aspects before it took off on consoles and had cool interiors to go to. Also a better emphasis on exploration and collectibles. Which I really can't stand racing games, but I love driving games, so this offered me something. The modern equivalent is The Crew, (made by some of the original devs) and is as close as you will get. It also has the biggest f*cking map ever. I recommend that, especially as it was free on xbox one recently, and still might be. Though there really aren't many good free roam driving games, or any driving games for that matter that can ever get a proper camera setup. GTA4 and 5 have spoiled me for driving, as though it could be better in some ways, it offers instant turning correction and awesome weight physics. Something that barely any other game has. I don't think I would have even given a single sh*t about either game if it wasn't for that. Still nothing beats driver for the type of driving I want. Hopefully they will make a sequel one day that won't suck. Anyway, I will go straight back on it as soon as it becomes backwards compatible, if that will ever happen? SouthLand
Found pictures of my rally Peugeot from when i played TDU2. I remember how i had to import pictures so i could used them as stickers and it was a real pain in the ass. So decorating this car took me a while:
Nico
^Yeah, you had to unpack the whole game using a tool that wasted a sh*tload of disk space just to get custom stickers on your car. You also had to replace the existing ones, as far as I remember it wasn't possible to add new ones. I remember trying to add music to the radios using this unpacking method but it never worked. Cutting the custom radio station was a terrible decision IMO. Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Pedinhuh
MAN, I remember playing TDU1 on my fallen PS2 back in the day, it had no shadows, no manual transmission, city and wilderness detail was very poor and online mode was dead. But soon as I pressed select and the game showed me the world map I was blown away! The map was HUGE, and the game had over 100 houses to own, over 60 cars to drive(PS2 didn't had motorbikes) and an awful lot of races to play with. Plus the driving physics were PERFECT for me, it was the sweet spot between NFSU2 and GT4, just perfect. I soaked an ENTIRE MONTH exploring the whole map, and when I finally did that, I decided to beat every race, tournament, time trial and car club in the game, wasted a good part of two months doing that but it was worth every single second! It ranked high up in my list among the PS2 era of games. Then I saw the previews of TDU2 and got very dissapointed with the driving physics, good lord! WHY change that at all?!?!? It was fine the way it was!! Needless to say I didn't bought it yet, probally won't too.
