Dirty Bomb Beta

If TF2 and CS:GO had a child he would be called Dirty Bomb.

It has fast paced combat, mercs that have different abilities and stats, a limited selection of weapons so far (although, they are very well balanced), health pools are very large for some mercs (think on Scout to Heavy in TF2), you can wall jump, and youll be firing from the hip most of the time, dont let the looks disappoint you, this game plays more like Quake than COD (or BF4).

And its free, and its a beta, that means some of the characters didnt make it out of the closed beta yet, and the game looks better than the trailers already.

Also this weekend there is double XP and Credits so its a good moment to start playing.

I would recommend people to not waste their money in cases because you get them trough an RNG (like boxes in TF2 except you dont need keys to open them) and paying money only slightly increases your chance of getting fancy loadouts (after bronze all loadouts only give cosmetic stuff so theres no point to it). Use the crafting system to make only the ones you want for the mercs you want.

Use your credits/money to buy mercs instead.

Calling it a child of TF2 and CS:GO does a disservice to how similar it is to quake - it certainly feels mostly like an arena shooter. In fact I'd say the only resemblance to TF2 is the fact it has classes, and I can't really see where CS comes into it.

Anyway, it's a really fun game, though the way classes are handled certainly isn't laid out to you very well, really makes it seem like a P2W when it isn't, really.

I'm glad my favourite thing to do in FPSs - running around just meleeing people - is effective in this game.

But at its core its an objective based shooter, with classes, and different roles, so it fits TF2 a lot, ans the way spread works is very much like CS:GO.

That being said, yes, combat feels a lot like an arena shooter.

This game needs more attention. It's easily the best FTP shooter out there. A little grindy but if you enjoy the gameplay you don't really notice it.

Here's some videos I did for it recently.

Meh, I played it for a bit but stopped after a while because it just wasn't that good. Definitely better F2P FPSs out there.

Besides Teamfortress, what are you considering better?

Not trying argue, legitimately curious. Most FTP FPS games are extremely abusive with micro-transactions, or Pay-to-win mechanics.

Personally I also found Planetside 2 and Fistful of Frags to be more fun, though really that's a subjective thing now that I say it. Dirty Bomb personally had a fair amount of promise but never really did anything for me.

Oh yes, Planetside 2. It's a fine game, but I was kinda put off by it when the battles simply reset as soon as someone won. Felt really lack luster when they take hours to complete.

Dirty Bomb is 'ok' but yet another mediocre F2P game. I don't really find Planetside 2 that great because I have a big sense it's too much Pay 2 Win.

Fistful of Frags is probably one of the best 'free' FPS games out there.

Also, to go real oldschool. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is boss. I am still waiting for a succesor or atleast a spirital followup to it.
