Would you have prefered the GTA V on PS4 to be in 720p60 or 1080p30?

This has got to be one of the best replies I have seen in regards to this on this forum. Its very true, I for the life of me can not understand the need for 60fps esp in a game such as gta. It would be a nice to have but for me clarity is far more important. However I can also see that some would chosen fps over clarity. The thing that gets me is ppl that just look at the stats and thats all it is to them a numbers game

FPS matters in almost every game. 30 fps makes everything feel clunky.

Lol to you maybe, but as stated fps to me is meaningless played it and was not impressed infact to me it looks totally unnatural so I changed back to 30. I would rather have clarity anyway, 720p to me is almost unplayable now. Edited by Starsky83

If you allow a detour.

I got used to low framerate and good resolution back when I was gaming with a Savage 4. Remember that? That card had some really strange performance. I remember I kept saying that it runs many games with higher settings than expected. Looking back, I think it probably didn't, it's just I was never sensitive to low framerate.

The card's biggest problem was that it had awful performance in 32-bit color depth, however the image quality was so great to begin with that I could use 16-bit and got better image than others on 32-bit. Interestingly, the card could do trilinear filtering with no performance hit, and had great texture compression capabilities at the time when other manufacturers hadn't figured out these yet, again allowing me to go higher with other settings.

So at the end I could play games such as Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Max Payne or Ghost Recon with my poor little video card in the same or better settings (except color depth) than people on their GeForce 2 Ti's.

So at the end where some others with similar low-end cards had to game in 800*600 and got used to sh*tty image quality, I was used to 1280*1024 and a bit less performance. And it sticks with me to this day. I can live with sub-par performance, but my gaming PC has a 1440p display, while other people will rather have 720p and 120 fps. To each their own.

Dick Grayson

1080p, 30fps. I couldn't care less about frames per second to be honest.

I can barely tell the difference, I've played the pc version at my friend's place and the ps4 version and all I noticed was slightly nicer graphics.

720p60 because I have a 720p TV, but if I had 1080p or higher I would choose, obviously, 1080p.

If you'd prefer 1080p 30 fps over 720p 60 fps, you've never experienced 60 fps.

If you'd prefer 720p, you never experienced crystal clear 1080p.

1080p30fps is more than enough for an open world game like GTA V.

So pong must be your thing eh ?

I can't see the difference between 20, 30 or 60 fps.

So 1080/30 is a no-brainer for me.

1080p is 2010 dude. While I certainly appreciate clarity, it's all ruined because it feels like a slideshow at 30fps.

For me 30 fps is 'good enough' while 720p isn't. I still enjoy how good the game now looks on new-gen, and I envy those fortunate enough to be able to play the game in 4k on pc. Then the game becomes true art.

This is only an argument because console manufacturers want to charge you a premium price for 10 year old hardware they can make for one tenth of the cost. Then you have stupid ass developers like Ubisoft claiming 25FPS is the "cinematic experience". Bitch if I want a "cinematic experience" I'll go watch a f*cking movie instead.

We're gaming, we need higher FPS. Get a PC and play it how it's mean't to be played. [email protected]+. No Limit.

1080p isn't "2010" because majority of gamers are on console combined (PSN, Wii U, Xbox Live), 1080p isn't really the standard yet so I highly disagree.

Why can't we enjoy gaming without useless stats? I don't give two f*cks, as long as it looks good.

but these stats are what determined how it looks.

Contradiction the post

So why was this bumped? But since it was I'll put my take.

I'd rather take 720 at 60fps. 1080p is good but 60fps makes any game better even in a lower resolution. And I'm a console guy.

1080p30 because 60 frames looks depressing as hell. Prime example. Whenever I film a POV vid on my go pro from my car door drifting at 60fps, everything is so smooth to the point motion blur and the perception of speed is gone and it looks slow and boring. Same thing goes for videos games I find.

The human eye cant see past 90 FPS i think.

But i could care less about framerate.

But when you are already dealing with lag in these overstuffed lobbies, having the game falling from an already minimal 30 fps is atrocious.

I'd prefer it in ps3 resolution at 60 frames if that's what it took. The only problem is it's not the machine that slows it down it's the shockingly bad networking so I'd imagine a full lobby still runs at 15 frames a second even at 300 resolution.

The thing about frame rate is that it's not about the visuals, it's about the controls. you simply can't control a car at less than 30 frame input rate, 60 is much much muuuuch better.
