Would you have prefered the GTA V on PS4 to be in 720p60 or 1080p30?

Would you want GTA V to stay in 1080p 30 or would you sacrifice crystal clear 1080p 30 frames per second for 720p smooth 60 frames per second, or would you want in between 900p HD+ 60 frames per second?

1080p, 30fps. I couldn't care less about frames per second to be honest.

There is no scientific basis for that claim...infact there is quite alot of evidence to the contrary...not including, but not limited to the fact people can easily see the difference between both 20-30fps and 30-60fps. I really wish people would stop spreading misinformation.

Well mines 1080p at 60 FPS so I don't have to choose. :p

Would really like a 4K monitor if anyone is feeling generous though.

There is a noticeable difference between 30 and 60 FPS. Ive seen gameplay on gta V on LG, NG, and PC (max settings) and (of course) the PC runs significantly smoother at 60 FPS than consoles do at half that.

so for consoles, Id gladly take lower resolution for smooth gameplay but id really want this

1080p 30fps to be honest. Almost all the features of first person wouldnt be seen if it was 720. Go back and have a look at the PS3 verson which is 720p. FPS is one of the most over hyped over rated stats of gaming. The only game type that its best to have 60 FPS is Race Sims. However FPS do have a huge impact if they drop below 24/30 (depending upon country) due to the eye being conditioned to this as standard from TV

YouTube on the PS3 plays videos at 720p 60 frames per second so I already know how smooth the game looks in 60 FPS.

If 900p was possible, sure why not.

Will not go for 720p however as I play on the big screen, and it would look crap TBH.

Yes I have played GTA on PC @1080p60 and its great, but 720 is just a POS.

Why can't we enjoy gaming without useless stats? I don't give two f*cks, as long as it looks good.

Even though 60fps makes any game look smooth I wouldn't really care as long as the game is playable. And I'm surprised a pc vs console debate hasn't happen yet.

For me there's no difference between 60 fps and 30 fps. After half hour of playing at 30 fps or 60 fps you will get used to it at forget about fps.

Youtube on 360 used to play 60fps videos, but after they changed the look of it now it's only 30fps. Was pissed.

To anyone choosing 1080/30, I recommend you check out this website and take a second to reconsider your choice.

As for me, luckily I don't have to choose between the two on PC, but if I did, I would absolutely choose 720/60.

I'd rather a compromise. Don't go full 720, maybe like 900p and 50 fps or something. You can tell a difference between 50 and 60 even but it's so small compared to 30 to 50 that the game still feels like absolute butter.

The game already chugs pretty hard and slows down once you're in public games with more than a few people...

People will never stop arguing about it. Personally I'm not sensitive when it comes to framerate. 30 fps is fine for me.

It used to be that game engines had physics, controls and graphics tied together, most famously Quake III, where you could jump higher if you had 120 fps.

Today these systems are independent so that's no longer an issue. Plus game engine can smoothen out movement jerkiness with good motion blur and interpolation so even visually low framerate is not that obvious. What remains is input latency, but that depends on how the game is made. 30 fps on one can feel smoother than 60 fps on another.

That said:

- more fps is always better

- some people are more sensitive to framerate issues, some are extremely so

- if you get used to more fps, you'll always want it and lower framerate may become an issue even if you didn't mind before

- some games handle low fps really really badly

- it also depends on other factors, e.g. low framerate is more acceptable in 3rd person, while narrow FOV requires higher rate

The ideal solution would be to leave the choice up to the player, because there simply is no right or wrong answer. It goes further to other graphics options, I'd easily trade both resolution and framerate for FOV because as it is I can't play majority of console FPS because they make me sick.

But at the day and age when game devs and publishers are complete control freaks and so many games don't allow even to change the control scheme, yea that's not gonna happen.

This has got to be one of the best replies I have seen in regards to this on this forum. Its very true, I for the life of me can not understand the need for 60fps esp in a game such as gta. It would be a nice to have but for me clarity is far more important. However I can also see that some would chosen fps over clarity. The thing that gets me is ppl that just look at the stats and thats all it is to them a numbers game
