What's a lag switch?

A program for your pc that lags the internet that it and your console are connected to, if you get the right amount of lag then you get split from the lobby you are in - from your side, everyone leaves, from their side, you leave. The crate stays in both and someone from the other side (where everyone left) can get it, and you can get yours. If you use too much lag it just kicks you from online saying "unknown connection error, please return to gta V".

Is that why I see players jumping all over the screen. Especially she driving them seem to teleport all over the place

 

No mate, they are modders using scripts to teleport anywhere, these are the same guys who drop money on people, piggy back on people and place hotdogs on peoples crotches.

 

If I had a character called The Nameless (I don't) and I used a lagswitch successfully you would see "The Nameless left". That is all. If I didn't use enough then you would see nothing as I would simply stay in the lobby with no effects. If I used too much you would see "The Nameless left" because I would lose my connection to GTA: Online.

I got all of my crates legit. I don't care if someone uses a lag switch to get a crate in the game. As long as they don't affect my experience they haven't done anything wrong. If anything it makes it easier for those in the lobby that don't have a lag switch. 1 less person to worry about when going after the crate.

No? Because I can do what ever the hell I want with my net since I'm paying for it.

 

If. I want to get my crate with out free roam warriors bothering then I can do what ever I want.

 

I have better things to do in the weekend than play glitch crates with 24 people wasting my time when I can go to the beach or see a show or shop or go out to drink.

If you all have better things to do, why play at all or even care that you score said limited items??! Obviously, your priorities lie elsewhere!

 

My opinion: If you need to use an outside method to acquire anything, you are not playing the game as it was intended, also known as cheating.

 

I really don't see what's so hard to understand here. If you don't want to earn the items and decide to acquire them by means that are an alternate to earning them legit, you are cheating. Admit it, accept it, and come to terms that you are kinda lame at playing GTAO.

I refuse to ignore any injustice just because it may seem trivial to someone else...those "rare" items are the equivalent to rare items in RPGs which people play the game to achieve. I think that anything that's meant to be earned, but then is acquired through illegitimate means, makes any effort I put forth to gain said item null and void. And, honestly, I DO like earning and and sporting rare items in game just as anyone would do in any other game to show off their achievements. You can't discount my hard work...all you can do is TRY to justify your cheating ways...which no one has been able to do this far.

 

And, as an AZ Wildcat fan, I don't know if we can continue our convo here without it turning to College Hoops rather quickly!

OP, why does the use of lag-switches bother you so much?

 

In every thread I've seen you in today, you've bragged about your "legit" crate pickups and whined about how using a lag-switch is wrong. It has no effect on anyone else other the person using it and it certainly doesn't effect you. If you like getting your crates the old fashion way, that's fine, but leave us lag-switch users to it and quit crying.

 

It's just a game.

Here's the deal...I made this thread as a DISCUSSION with my opinions cast aside in order to get a gist of the general feelings of the community, but since you want to post out my personal opinion:

 

 

I played "legit" for 3-4 hours today and gained just as much as "lag-switch" users, according to posts I've seen here in GTAF. When you lag switch to acquire limited edition items, you do, indeed, discount the value of these items for those of us who shoot at and fend off 5 players to EARN that shirt. This sh*t is MEANT to be earned, not lag switched and acquired because you have "work/finals". I have the same circumstances, but I MADE TIME to play the game and EARN the items that are meant to be EARNED.

 

Inthe long run, whether it affects me or not, the way you earn these items displays LEAPS AND BOUNDS the kind of GTAO player you actually are. And, I'd rather earn my keep than be spoiled.

I can beat 10 minutes with 3-4 hours full of crates, cash, RP, free body armor and molotovs...PLUS I got a full on gamplay experience as intended by Rockstar. It's no wonder so many people in the Forum are bitching about being "bored with GTA". You aren't even playing the game! You're just collecting sh*t in the easiest possible way and then showing it off as if you earned it! What a joke!!

 

And, those cookies look delicious. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness! I look forward to enjoying them...right after the "royal taste tester" does so first!

I get that you want to earn but I fail to see how other people having them makes em any less special. I agree that it's a cheap method for people to use a lag switch but so be it I got no problem money glitching. What I do find funny is I've seen a few people post about using a lag switch who also bitch about money glitches. They fail to see the hypocrisy in what they are doing and I'm sure they will say money glitches cause R* extra work to patch them and that they hurt the in game economy and other nonsense trying to explain away their actions. The only glitches I have a problem with are god mode and other glitches that give the user an advantage over another player in PvP.

I just completed all the heist elite challenges in the last few days and helped set the world record for 2 of the heists. I'm definitely playing the game. You're just getting all your panties in a bunch over something trivial that shouldn't bother anyone.

 

Lag switch to get kills = That's a problem

Not to mention that 'lag switchers' (I don't use a lag switch) are cloning the drops for their own leaving a drop behind for everyone else. So in a way, we're helping people like you anyway.

I welcome the team that trumps the world record by illegal means. It'll help others that don't have the elite challenges get them easier. There's a lot of stuff like that when it comes to speed run records in tons of video games anyway, so... have at it runners.

In my opinion, using a lagswitch to get a special crate isn't cheating. If you think it is, then by that logic, am I cheating if I'm crate hunting using my crappy wi-fi that naturally splits the lobby every so often?

If you're only only using a lag switch in order to gain the purposeful unfair advantage over other players then you are blatantly cheating, whereas The crappy WiFi signal isnt purposeful, I'm guessing.

How do you get an unfair advantage over other players? The person using a lag switch just leaves the lobby, that's 1 less person to keep track off and the chances of you getting the crate increase. It's a win-win.

You could get wired or get better wifi. So, using that wifi that you know is crappy is basically the same thing.

Cheating to break world records in video games is a common thing that most people have accepted. There are legit players and there are cheaters. Whether or not you take records from either, both, or neither camps seriously is up to you, but there's room for all types of players for record holding in video games. Everyone has the option play THEIR game however they want.

 

This shirt stuff, is just you complaining for the sake of complaining. No real good reason for it.

I got the 4 shirts on both characters last night, only missed one crate, so out of 9 crate drops i grapped 8 of them :-) WITHOUT LAGSWITCH...!!
