OrangeKittyKat
If you have a corrupt game after an update, the game crashes upon launching, or if the game crashes when trying to access a certain part of the DLC, then you may want to try this, and as far as i know, this is the first post here that solves it. This only works if you've been experiencing crashes right after an update STEP 1: Go to your games main directory and backup, then delete the following files: "GTA5.exe" and "GTAVLauncher.exe", make sure to back them up first though. STEP 2: From the main directory, go into the folder that says "update" and backup then delete the following files: "Update.rpf" and delete the folder "x64" STEP 3: Launch GTA V STEP 4: GTA V's launcher will now automatically reinstall just those files you deleted, and in the process will rid those corrupted files and replace them with clean, working versions. And Bam, you are done. Q/A Q: If this fix only effects people who experience crashes/freezes right after an update, why do we have to delete GTA5.exe and GTAVLauncher.exe? A: If you delete only what's in the "Update" folder, upon launching the game, the game will only restore that folder "x64". It will not restore the Update.rpf file that you must have to launch the game. Q: Will this work with the Steam version? A: I own the Retail Version, and so far has only been tested with the retail version, although the same process should work with the steam version, as I would guess Q: How do I know that I have a corrupt .rpf file from a patch? How can I tell? A: You can tell that you have a corrupt Update.rpf file if you've been experiencing any crashing right after an update when you come into contact with any of that patch's content (ie. Osiris, Gold Luxor, PDW, Apartment, etc.), or if said content isn't crashing your game, but has missing textures, sounds, meshing, etc. Hope this fix helps anybody who needs to know how to re-install updates that got corrupted, instead of having to re-install that whole 60gb game. As far as i know, i'm the very first person to post this fix, as i've searched and searched and searched for a fix and couldn't find any, so I had to figure it out myself and this has how i've managed to fix it.
