WTF is this passive mode sh*t?

That might have been me grabbing the crate in passive mode. Works like a charm. Try using a besra and parachuting as well and be ready to spam armors if NPCs shooting at you.

Wanted to help my friend get his cratedrop but some people who tried to grab the crate were in passive mode so I couldnt harm them wtf??!. Might as well add godmode if passive allows easy crate drop colecting.

 

When I called him out for him he said itg was part of the game and the entire lobby defended him. Seriously my brains are melting because of how stupid some people are.

Well, it IS part of the game. Somehow he's supposed to yeild to your sensibilties and preferences?

Must be risky to go for a crate in PM because even if the guards don't cut you down, you need to hope that the crate glitches so that you don't need to break it open.

The special crates aren't crates at all. They're packages that you can pick up without breaking open anything.

Passive mode is good for pacifists in FM. There's nothing wrong with it.

People tend to shoot you on sight, sometimes its exhausting and you just want to get on with what you're doing.

 

Although using it to get crates or for 'naive' ambushing isn't so much clean, so to speak.

i got lucky, i have all 4 shirts already. 1st time lag kicked everyone, 2nd time, no one went for it till after the fact, third time was only me and 3 others...they were busy killing eachother. Last time same as the 2nd time. but for next time i know to use passive, make it much more easier i ALSO DIDNT KNOW THAT THE CRATES THIS TIME ARENT CRATES, just packages, dont even need to kill anyone, just quickly walk over them lmao

Can't wait for R* to patch that cheap tactic in the future so you can actually fight for it. I can't tell you how to play the game but I would like if everyone didn't attempt to make getting the crate a competition for who can run over it in passive mode first.

Dry your eyes OP. At least you can actually get online. I had an entire evening of connection errors and screens with lame Rockstar excuses as to why their broken piece of crap game doesn't work. I'd have been happy to get to the stage where I could actually see a crate being snatched from me by someone in Passive!

R* intended for us to fight over these things in free roam. R* intended passive to be used as a way to avoid getting trolled and not be in combat mode.

 

Problem is R* never fully thinks through.

 

So now we get players using Passive to avoid combat with other player just to grab rewards that are meant for players to battle over.

 

Its pretty sad.. but thats how i is. As a game dev, its their job to tell US how to play and restrict things from happening. Yet most players in GTA love to live by the moto of "stop telling me how to play, if its in the game il use it" Which i guess sounds good in theory, but the reality is thinking like that just makes games sh*tty.

 

We need to be restricted... and told how to play. Limited on how we play. Thats what makes games fun in the long run.. Because most people are simply drawn to playing the easiest way possible and its not fair to those who don't.

i agree its a cheap tactic, but you got to learn to get used to it things like this happen a lot. He/she used a perfectly legal tactic to steal the crate yes it is cheap and all but what kind of people do we play as in gta... CRIMINALS. Next time you have to beat them there or don't even bother with crate drops, drop em in the desert and the ones that drop normally don't bother with the natural ones they have nothing in them that's worth stealing/fighting over.

 

anyway in passive mode both of you are at the same advantage/disadvantage you cannot do anything to him and he cannot do anything to you in return so the guy who got the crate was the one in the faster car as he had absolutely no advantage over you when you think about it (the only thing you cant do is shoot or hit him)

 

I agree this should be fixed I never bother with those special crate drops as there is barley anything useful in them but really when you think about it he/she has no advantage over you, he cannot shoot you and you cannot shoot him that is it.

 

I already know someone is going to have a "genius" come back to why they have an advantage over you in passive mode

Also don't post personal problems in the forums everyone will just think your a cry baby, when a glitch or something happens then I don't care like you explode for no reason or something.

And yet people whine that this isn't a total sandbox do whatever the f*ck you want wild west game. Blaming Rockstar is stupid though. People can and will abuse every possible advantage they could ever have. If you couldn't pick up crates in passive, people would just turn off passive as they approach. Problem remains. Whatever you do, people will abuse it in any possible way. This isn't simply Rockstar's fault, this is the fact people try to exploit every possible thing they can.

Passive, chopper, off radar, fly to hot zone. Let other players distract themselves killing eachother, land chopper, stand under drop icon, crate on head, win?

Happened to me earlier no biggie because the NPCs will kill him. Next time go off rader and if you see any passives near by just let the npcs kill him then u go down quickly killing the npcs go into paaaive urself and get it.

Whoa. If this mode is legitimately available and no slight of hand goes into using it (IE glitching), it's not cheating.

 

Cheap tactic, irritating... you name it - sure. Cheating. No. Remember you are playing a game OP that encourages you to get what you want through any means. This isn't "Grand Theft Honor and Valor."

This is why I detest passive mode because people could easily cheat to get the crates. This is why I would want a kid friendly session due to the passive mode sh*t.

Well that's my point - they're supposed to be inside a crate but sometimes they glitch in a way that the actual crate doesn't appear. I've also had it where the crate does appear but the package is just sitting on top of it, lol.

This is basically my exact method every time (I'm on PS3). Except I don't bother with any PM bullcrap. And I don't use markers as I'm told this can cause the glitch that prevents the crate from appearing.

 

I call my Buzzard and fly up fairly high and hover close to the middle of the map, usually just North of the Vinewood sign. Then I wait for the crate inbound notification and call Lester. Once his service list is on screen, I highlight 'Off the radar' and then go to the map and check what area the drop-zone is in. If it's close, I hide my blip straight away, otherwise I start flying towards the crate and hide my blip when I'm less than 60 seconds away.

 

If I'm first to the drop-zone with nobody else close by, my Buzzard makes light work for the NPC guards. If someone else is close I'll see if the NPCs can get them, or if they're right on the crate I'll obviously attack them myself. Once the area is clear I just swoop down and grab that crate!

I've found the best method is using the hydra, just fly around middle of the map, jet straight to the spot off radar take out other players on the way as the hydra locks on to all vehicles now, take out AI hover down land in the centre, BOOM! create is yours. I've got 10 crates this weekend, and collectively with mates well over 20 by now. Lost a couple to people in passive mode, but they usually don't get close enough.

 

Also create drops don't appear to be synchronised across all lobbies, so if you don't have a crate count down find a new session that does!
