Lol.

You got to let the passive mode crate snatcher get killed by the AI, just be as quick as you can, it is bullsh*t OP though , I agree.

OP doesn't have the MaD sKiLLz required to go into passive mode for the crate.

If you'd have got there first you wouldn't be posting this drivel.

They should just make the special crates like the normal ones - you have to shoot the box open to collect the content. The fact that special crates come in completely unprotected from any passer-by in a passive Kuruma is simply dumb beyond reason.

Now since it is set up this way, is it a cheap tactic? Yes. But is it a useful tactic that I recommend? An even bigger YES.

Never even thought about going passive for crates, definitely doing this from now on. Thanks!

Who's getting a crate in a Kuruma? Not in any lobby I'm in. Me and my Hydra will be standing there waving at them when they arrive, a day late and a dollar (and a special t-shirt) short. Flying is the only way to get these unless you just get dumb-lucky in a half-empty lobby, with a crate spawning five blocks away from you.

Passive mode in a armoured karuma > drive up, park next to it, open the door, step out onto it, step back in > win

This is why I detest passive mode because people could easily cheat to get the crates. This is why I would want a kid friendly session due to the passive mode sh*t.

I just love how people get so pissed off over people using passive mode. It's one of many things that Rockstar did great in the Online portion of the game.

I use passive mode so I can avoid the assholes who uses the public session as their own little deathmatch ring.

You do realize that it is possible to fly there once the green circle pops up, land and call the Kuruma, right?

Still nowhere close to being the fastest option, of course, but definitely a very competitive one when players who conform to the spirit of the drop event are busy blasting each other.

Didn't they mention in an update log they took away the ability to collect crates in passive mode?Or was it related only to the HPV?

No need to bother with that if you're going to go passive anyway, which is what was specified in the post I replied to. Regardless - if you're going to fly to the circle anyway, I'd much rather go off-radar and land right where the crate will drop than land on a road off to the side and call for a car. It's simply faster and much safer to get the crate that way. And you probably don't need to go passive, because anyone else that shows up probably will be and poses no threat.

In my experience over Christmas and so far today, the majority of players are now using passive to crate-hunt. I don't bother with it, as a result. I just make sure to get there first, and use off-radar to help conceal the fact that I beat them there.

Lol this thread... Just lol.

Atleast few peopl agree though. Also I already got my cratedrop, if you guys botheree to read the OP, you would notice that I was assising my friend so he could get the crate drop. Honestly crate drop should be a pvp event. No stupid passive mode noobs ruining awesome firefights of player wanting the crate drop.

Why didn't OP just drive them over if they were on foot or blow up their car if they were driving?

This seems like a ridiculously easy problem to solve. Hell not like they can fire back at you, they're in PASSIVE MODE!

I own all four t-shirts from flying in my hydra then landing and grabbing the crate, instead of jumping out and parachuting

And you're just being ignorant. You cannot harm passives in next gen. They are transparant and immune to any sort of damage including running them over (you just phase through them)

Facepalm.

This is partly the fault of the forum itself for not having separate boards for separate platforms, or some kind of tag under the user name that shows what platform they're on. But anyway: OP probably plays on current gen, not last gen. Passive mode users can't be run over or blown up, or killed in any way whatsoever, on PS4 or XBox One. They're ghosts. This makes passive extremely effective for getting crates (not to mention trolling and griefing).

What I said back in Jan of this year and still stick by it (well, the first part, not the last seeing as R* patched it already):

Using passive mode to get crates is fine, as you can still get killed by the NPCs and anyone else can still get to the crate as long as they are fast/first. Using it for HPV is not fine. Noone can take it from you, which defeats the point of it. "First come, first serve" is bull too - you're meant to fight for it. If you want it that bad, go Invite only. Don't stoop to exploiting a game mechanic and trying to defend yourself; it doesn't work. The only time I agree with the pussy mode insult is in this case, because it is a pussy move.

Lol so you dont like the First come, first serve with the HPV but crate drop is fine? Dafuq!? Crate drops is also meant to be fought over. The guy in the passive mode did get killer by the NPC but he spawned very close to the crate again and took it without dying. Making my efforts to defend the crate drop a useless effort.

When I called him out for him he said itg was part of the game and the entire lobby defended him. Seriously my brains are melting because of how stupid some people are.

"Get out of passive mode, you pussy"

Don't be one of these people, OP.

I don't like it when people ruin shoot outs with very cheap tactics like this.

Passive mode shouldn't even exist in GTA. Friendly fire is on by default so nobody should be able to have god mode for as much as they want and exploit it to get free easy kills. They should just implement friendly lobbies soon and get it over with. God damn is this company so complicated.

Your post made me think of gta4, and I got sad :(

Passive mode blows and is worse than anything. Such a broken system and it keeps getting worse.

I was having a shoot out near that circle when dumb lag kicked everyone from the server so I had no problem getting to the crate..

But thanks for the tip about passive op il be sure to try that as soon as I get back online later lol

(If you can't beat em?)

By making complaining threads like this you're only teaching other people to do this so well done

I know some people show up late to parties but damn is this an old tactic. Mostly all the scum in the game do/did this. They would wait with buzzards (in passive) go out, kill all the guards with the buzzard, go back in passive, and drive bomb the crate.

Then people just stopped killing the guards and got the crate drop and died from the guards.

If you're not in the air by the time it drops, you usually might as well forget about it unless it happens to drop in or nearly in your lap. And that was with choppers before the frigging Hydra came on the scene.

I find it hilarious that R* still is using the "non-crated" crates where you can just walk-up and grab them in passive versus the old-school crates that you have to break open.

I've already had one instance this morning where most of the lobby was in some kind of plane waiting for like 10-15 minutes - once the crate actually was about to be dropped, turned into an epic air battle. While everyone was busy trying to keep each other away from the crates or attacking the mercs from their planes (thanks, guys), I waited for the right moment and just got out of my plane and walked up to the crate in passive. Much upset.

What would make people insane is if the occasional crate included a coupon for a special crate-only car or even a coupon for 10-25% off a car.
