reiniat
Please point out this context. Do you go up to some black dudes and call them ni**ers? If they get mad, do you explain to them why they shouldn't be offended and tell them how you know people who aren't offended, so they shouldn't be either? Are they okay with you calling them ni**er afterwards because you enlightened them? I dont get this, so you describe the perfect bad context for saying the word ni**er, then that means its always a bad word? How about when they talk to each other? how about when youre familiar with them? That suddenly doesnt count? And we suddenly cant use them to describe peoples physical features because describing is apparently a bad thing. If you honestly think terms like: "ni**er, spic, kike, homo, wetback, etc." are "descriptive", then you are just plain out of your mind. But heres the thing, some words are ONLY ever used to insult people (so im not gonna tell them to people... DUH!!!!), some doesnt, the translation for wetback in spanish is "mojado" and for us mojado is just a word for someone that went trough the river to reach USA illegally. Also people use "no homo" as a joke more than they even use homo as a bad word (i suppose your word should have been fa**ot, now that is a word thats mostly used to insult). The thing is again, some words change their meaning trough context (elementary school teachings right here). It just the same thing you people cry over and over in the forums, im just asking you to be rational, look at how language is used in practice and how people get offended and realize youre being overly sensitive and are pulling out completely irrational examples to make completely unpractical points... Or maybe i just live in another country and my sensibilities are different, but i guess that is also way too hard for you to understand. *MURDOC*
Again, you missed the point by an extreme distance. We get it though, you're an asshole in addition to a complete f*cking idiot, and you don't give a f*ck about anyone else. You're a joke, you should try to be less of a jackass. It just the same thing you people cry over and over in the forums but i guess that is also way too hard for you to understand. Also people use "no homo" as a joke more than they even use homo as a bad word (i suppose your word should have been fa**ot, now that is a word thats mostly used to insult). There is not a sigh loud enough for people like you. im just asking you to be rational Before asking anyone to be rational, you might want to try being rational yourself. Theodore93
There was a piece on Newsnight (a BBC, post-watershed current affairs program) a while ago where the host Evan Davis (a white man) was discussing the topic of the word 'ni**er' with two black guests. During which he told them (while they were freely using it) that he simply couldn't bring himself to actually say the word. I don't have anything against Davis, but I couldn't help but find this moronic and really thought he needed to grow up. When someone can't even use an offensive word in a serious discussion about it's origins, impact etc, then you know there is a problem.

I could understand if he couldn't look them in the eye whilst saying it, because Evan Davis has a wonky eye. But just frigging say it at least. Theodore93
If you don't feel comfortable saying it, you don't need to. That goes without saying. I imagine he didn't need to turn up at work either. I think the fact that he's been convinced somewhere along the way that he can never say the word ever, regardless of the context is indeed a problem and there a far too many people that believe the same thing. *MURDOC*
If he's too scared to say the word, even in that situation then, yeah, it's pretty silly. But if he truly feels uncomfortable saying it, there's really nothing wrong with that. Clem Fandango
Otter
I agree, in essence, that nothing should be sacred to a fault - but I also believe a good man must have a code, and it's not up to armchair quarterbacks or internet rabble rousers to question how he conducts it. *MURDOC*, ten-a-penny, Clem Fandango and 1 other

860
But, wait. There's more!http://www.buzzfeed.com/tamerragriffin/rachel-dolezal-once-told-a-student-she-did-not-look-hispanic#.tuDVKXBaG Rachel Dolezal once did not let a student participate in a class activity about race and culture because she did not appear Hispanic enough, the student told BuzzFeed News on Friday.Dolezal introduced an activity she called “Fishbowl,” in which one student sat in front of the class as others were invited to ask them questions about their racial and cultural experiences. In the first round of Fishbowl, the student said Dolezal sought out a volunteer of Hispanic background to be questioned. The student, who told BuzzFeed News that she identifies as Hispanic, grew up in a Spanish-speaking country, speaks the language fluently, and, while she has light skin, believes she has a “pretty solid experience of what it’s like to be Spanish.” She raised her hand to participate.“I think we should ask another student,” the student recalled Dolezal saying in class. The student asked why she could not participate.“Rachel said I didn’t look Hispanic,” This sounds more like the work of a con artist than anything else. Racially confused / transracial? Get out of here. Old fashioned Fraud more like. I really think she's just nuts. She probably has some sort of identity disorder which just happened to come out like this. Had she not surrounded herself with African-American culture when she was young, the same disorder would have caused her to create some other identity. The look on her face when asked about her ethnicity makes her look like someone just told her for the very first time that she's not black.
