860
TL;DR White woman pretends to be black for many years, becomes the president of the local National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, gets caught sending racist hate mail to herself. http://m.kxly.com/news/questions-raised-about-naacp-hate-mail-report/33512308 SPOKANE, Wash. -A police report raises questions about reports of threatening hate mail sent to Spokane's NAACP president. Major Crimes detectives have concluded that the mail was never processed, despite showing up in the organization's post office box.Postal workers told detectives the envelope had not been canceled, time stamped or imprinted with the bar code that directs mail to the right destination. According to the police report, the postal inspector told detectives, "The only way this letter could have ended up in this P.O. box would be if it was placed there by someone with a key to that box or a USPS employee."The detective wrote, "I have no reason to believe any of these employees were involved in putting the letters in this post office box." http://cdapress.com/news/local_news/article_385adfeb-76f3-5050-98b4-d4bf021c423f.html?mode=jqm She's risen from North Idaho civil rights champion to positions of power in Spokane as a self-described black woman. But what if Rachel Dolezal is really white?Dolezal, chair of Spokane's Office of Police Ombudsman Commission and president of the city's chapter of the NAACP, has made claims in the media and elsewhere about her ethnicity, race and background that are contradicted by her biological parents. On the application for the oversight committee is a section to declare ethnicity. On Dolezal's application, she indicated that she was white, African-American, Native American and two or more races. While ethnicity was not a criterion for selection, Coddington said it was certainly taken into account."Race wasn't a criteria in the selection process, but certainly diversity was an important part of the process,"Dolezal, a multi-media artist, professor of Africana studies at Eastern Washington University and former instructor at North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, has reportedly made similar ethnicity claims to local media outlets. In recent years, she has portrayed herself physically, and on social media platforms, as a woman of black African-American heritage. However, her parents, Ruthanne and Larry Dolezal, who are both white and live in the Troy/Libby area in Montana, told The Press their daughter is not African-American. They backed up the claim with a copy of their daughter's birth certificate and photos. The images show a younger, pale, blonde-haired, blue-eyed Dolezal who looks much different than the woman with caramel-colored skin now leading the Spokane NAACP and helping review claims of police misconduct in that city. http://www.buzzfeed.com/claudiakoerner/a-civil-rights-leader-has-disguised-herself-as-black-for-yea#.uvbRw8vjdhttp://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/spokane-naacp-leader-rachel-dolezal-falsely-portrays-herself-black-family-sayshttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3121061/Local-NAACP-leader-professor-African-studies-outed-WHITE-parents-convincing-community-black-years.html 8:10 is where the magic happens. GTA_stu
HAHA wtf, this sh*t is just too good. Basically tricks people into thinking she's black by getting a perm and a nice tan. Then sends herself hate mail. What an absolute basket case. Is she one of those "transethnics" or did she just think it would be cool to be black, or, like I'm just struggling to understand her motivation here. Maybe it's like that 9/11 woman who famously duped a load of people and wasn't actually in the towers like she claimed. f*cking kek. Theodore93
Manufacturing hate mail, common tactic of insane SJWs. What a c*nt. Gotta admire her commitment though, takes wiggerism to a whole new level. I think the NAACP should promote her. f*cking lol'd at the bit where she claimed she didn't understand the question "Are you african-american?" I mean how the hell did people think she is black? she looks like a white woman with tan. I think she was going for that mulatto look. That kind of curly light brown afro is very popular with American mulatto women. Moonshield, Carbonox, ClaudeSpeed1911 and 1 other
Moonshield
FYI, 'mulatto' is not an okay thing to say, and it never was. 860
Strange. The mother of my half black cousins uses it. Maybe it's seen as derogatory in America and not in Europe.
Moonshield
Probably most likely due to the lack of association those terms have with white colonists raping slaves and indigenous people like they do here. make total destroy, *MURDOC* and Tyler

I have a bunch of 'mulatto' relatives and none have ever taken issue with the term. Seems like one of those 'racist' terms that only white people get offended by. Look, I dislike hardline SJWs as much as you do, but Moon really isn't in the wrong here. Where Moon is from that word has historically been used as a pejorative against people of his heritage, so I really don't see any confusion about why Moon would take offence to the word (this clearly isn't one of those times where a hipster riddled by unfounded white guilt decides to crusade against white people). 860 meant no harm and I didn't know about the word until I read this topic. After a bit of digging it's pretty clear that this word has been unacceptable for a long time so isn't something Tumblr dwellers have unjustly robbed from us to limit our freedoms. Sometimes people are offended by trivial bullsh*t and it's reasonable to roll your eyes and curse Tumblr under your breath, but there are also very real instances when people might be justifiably offended by a word or a phrase. Part of being an adult is being mindful of these instances. Edited June 12, 2015 by Failure Moonshield, ten-a-penny and *MURDOC*

Part of being an adult is being mindful of these instances. But I'm not really interested in the history of the word or whether people are right to find it offensive or not, my issue is with people who expect others to stop using the word just because they don't like it. One can be mindful about peoples feelings if they want, but they shouldn't always be obliged to self-censor on others behalf. Moonshield has demonstrated a willingness to temp ban people for using words he personally objects to, so I thought it was an appropriate question. Nah but I'll ban you for being a complete tosser, if you'd like? I wondered how long it'd take you to jump in. That whiff was in the air again. Go ahead, if it really makes you feel better.
