Adder II

Does anyone here feel like the Adder was done completely wrong in GTA? We got a slow accelerating beetle for $1M. I would really like for an update, perhaps Ill Gotten Gains Part 2, R* added the "Adder II", or something along those lines.

 

A modern, upgraded version of the Veyron (convertible of course). Hopefully R* could do something different, and create suspension that lowers with greater speed, and a retractable spoiler like the Veyron has. Perhaps even a real 16 cylinder exhaust growl. A beautiful interior to boot would be nice.

 

I get this has been talked about many times, I just feel we could use an upgraded Adder. Lighter, quicker, and much sexier as its real life counterpart is. Any opinions? Constructive criticism welcomed.

As someone mentioned in the comments, the new Bugatti Chiron isn't far from its debut, this would also make a great new Truffade in-game.

What I like about the Adder the most is that it looks fairly/almost/kinda like an actual car usable on a street and not a formula monopost or an alien spaceship like the other supers (besides the Voltic). One could almost mistake it for an Audi coupé. Putting too much stuff on it would be contrapositive from my perspective.

 

But true, even such an upgraded Adder would still look more reasonable than a Zen, Osi, TR or Ent and if it would be fully on par with those, that would be interesting.

I would prefer they work on other cars to be honest. Maybe add a converible option to the current Adder. No point really having 2 of the same cars in the game IMO.

I like the Adder we have now. However, I do feel like they should add "active aero" to the rear spoiler.

The Veyron SS is a heavy car IRL. In fact, all of its versions are. It has superior acceleration to most supercars of 10-20yrs ago, but not the supercars of this decade. Its forte is its status, luxury/comfort, and stability at high speeds, rather than racing and/or blistering starts. Zentorno, Turismo, Entity, Infernus, etc.. are all based on IRL cars that have superior acceleration to the Veyron.

 

Adder is a good car as is. It looks good (unlike the Veyron), and is quite dependable and predictable. I still have mine in Black primary and Sunrise Orange secondary.

If I could sell my Adder I probably would because I have more driveable cars now, I bought it Jan 2014 and for some reason that car along with my Entity & Bullet I bought at the same time are unsellable.

Could you please give me an idea of what current gen supercar will beat the Veyron in acceleration. As far as I am aware it still is one of (if not) the fastest cars to accelerate. I would completely demolish most supercars from 20 years ago. I do agree its not really a racing car though due to its weight buts its no slouch by todays standards and bare in mind its 10 years old now.

The Veyron was built with one thing in mind: Top speed.

 

To achieve that goal it has basically sacrificed other performance parameters. Weight is atrociously high with all the stuff added to help it reach that speed as well as luxury stuff, meaning it's not good at corners and acceleration is sub-par (turn off launch control and it accelerates slower than an old McLaren F1 as Top Gear demonstrated).

 

If anything R* did a pretty good job representing the real car's performance other than the dumbed down top speed which is shared among all vehicles. The only thing that they Adder needs is a spoiler that actually works as eye-candy.

To be clear, the Veyron is a very fast car. I'm in no way denying that. However, The problem with it, though is that:

a. it loses a bit of its acceleratory bite when not under optimal conditions (Top Gear Veyron vs McLaren F1 is a good example) and

b. because of its weight, it does suffer in corners.

 

I'm pretty sure Zonda R, LaFerrari/P1, Huayra, Sesto Elemento/Lykan all beat stock (i.e. not stripped down), road going Veyrons. The only one that's a stretch is Koeniggsegg (Entity), although that trails the Veyron even more in the traction department.

 

EDIT: I agree, the Caterham/Ariel Atom type cars (light, high acceleration/traction, low top speed) would be a cool addition. I've recently done a bunch of Bifta "go-kart" type races and it was immensely fun.

I agree, they need to add more open-wheel vehicles to the game. If/when they open the arena dirt track, I'm hoping they'll add sprint cars. with the option to remove the wings.

HUH? 0-60 is 2.5, there are two cars that are faster (not counting Hennessey or Lingenfelter vehicles) and one tied with it

The Veyron is a beast of a vehicle and almost all supercars today can't even keep up. It's third on quater mile time

 

LaFerrari 9.7 sec @ 149.1 mph (240.0 km/h)

McLaren P1 9.8 sec @ 148.9 mph (239.6 km/h)

Porsche 918 Spyder 9.8 sec @ 145 mph (233 km/h)

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport 9.9 sec @ 145.8 mph (234.6 km/h)

 

This vehicle accelerates like nothing heard of. And people that own/test drove them said it's like nothing you can think of. And even when it gets into the 120mph range its still going, unlike most vehicles these days (due to them 4 turbos)
