It's simply because they wouldn't display with any amount of clarity. It would be akin to the tattoos and crew emblems you see now: A big, muddy mess.

 

There's only so much resources available for the last gen systems, if you take some to give yourself the ability to see sh*tty smudges on the guns you'll have to give up something else.

Personaly i also coud have done without the new earings....on old gen you barely see them anyhow
