Crate Drops this weekend

My first ever special crate shirt and most likely my last for now. I can barely stay in a public lobby long enough for a crate drop.

Really strange. Same thing has been happening to one of my friends in public lobbies.

It's probably because of the guys who use lag switches.

They think it won't affect anyone but that's not the case if you are the host.

naa i think its the normal server overload...

 

i have been in a solo session all day and the same thing happened to me atleast 3 times.

finally get connected into a room w a 10hr crate drop message

fight players to crate, obtain crate

switch session to look for new crate, times out to SP

get back onto MP only to find nothing saved

Yeah I noticed that the game doesn't save itself after picking up a crate. That's why you need to force a save, by calling for your personal vehicle or changing your outfit or something else...

Wasn't planning on picking up crates today, but still wanted to hang out in public lobbies to watch some special crate battles. However, in every crate lobby I got put in, there was little to no competition, even in the most crowded lobbies. After seeing my competition make so many rookie crate hunter mistakes, I'm like "f*ck it, I'm getting it.".

4/4 shirts obtained ! It's always a fun challenge competing with the rest of the lobby in getting the crate, or those who care at least about the crate. A nice payout also of $40,000 with getting the 4 shirts, since the special crate comes with $10,000, so that is definitely nice .

Is it just me or has the level of "I'LL KILL YOU THE INSTANT I SEE YOU!!" gone up somewhat this weekend? It's mayhem out there.

 

It's just a heavy volume of people in weaponized aircraft in the more full sessions...some of these crate wars have been brutal.

 

I've completely given up getting a single crate on PC. Used to be much simpler on PS4 when no one else even bothered collecting them.

 

You're on PC? Can't you just make them appear out of the flare gun or something like that?

I got my 4 crates in 5 tries and now I'm done. The first crate I got mowed. Second crate I was in passive mode at first, then switched, killed everyone and got my first shirt. Third crate, nobody else tried to get it. Fourth crate I dropped in with a Buzzard and took it. Fifth crate, I approached with a Buzzard, killed the NPC's and the 1st person to show up, got the last shirt. All in all it was too easy I guess. It seems like a waiting game... Wait until everyone has gotten their shirts and then it gets easier. Sunday should be cake.

Well I have to say this will probably be my last time I bother with these as have not been a happy

player at all trying to get the crates.

 

Server time outs, joining empty public lobbies, getting kamikaze Hydra pilot smashing me out of the

sky it has not been fun and although I appreciate the rare items idea I really think R* need to

rethink crate drops,

 

I have always understood why they removed crate drops from invite only sessions with a solo player

they didn't want people to be able to just pick them up without any challenge and yes I know that you

can do lobbies with 4 players to be able to get them to spawn that way but most of my friends are

either not in the same time zone as me or are no longer playing GTA Online having moved onto

other games.

 

So why is the limit 4 players? I don't see why it has to be that, in my eye they should make it 2 or more

players in a lobby and then everyone at least has a chance because more than likely they will have at

least one friend online and could then have a chance at the items, less load on public servers too.

 

Either that or if they insist it has to be 4+ players at least make it a multiple crate drop so that there were

say 2 or 3 crates spawned on the map and then players would have a chance to go for one of them.

 

Or if that isn't acceptable the other idea I was thinking is you could have it that two crates drop within the

48 minutes so you had one at 24 then everyone would know the next was another 24 mins away.

 

I know my thoughts will probably fall on deaf ears but I am sure I am not the only one who has ended up

wasting a lot of hours of there weekend over t-shirts, I'm lucky I had the time but that won't always be the

case.

Exactly. Your 5th, 6th crate etc. won't contain any shirt but still the cash and minigun ammo

Yep, after experiencing that during beerhat days during Festive Surprise I now quickly change my mask and back again to get the save sign once I grab the crate in case it boots me when changing sessions like it tends to do.
