austinslater
Okay so I've uninstalled and reinstalled GTA IV about three times, played it without any mods, with LCPDFR, LCPDFR with Callouts+ compatible plugin, and LCPDFR with Abraxis police mod. I've also played it with and without custom vehicles, on low settings, on high settings (Which it auto configures to), as well as medium. I've done what a lot of the other threads say which is to make the command line with the memrestrict, etc.. My system is a Lenovo Y500 Core i7 2.4 up to around 3.4 ghz two Nvidia GEFORCE GT 650M cards (SLI) 8 GIGS of ram windows 8.1 What frustrates me the most is I can play other games on high..easily. Also, the game seems to have no issues with lag. It plays super smooth and the graphics section of the game is nowhere near close enough to be maxed out. Oh, and of course, I have the game updated to the latest patch, my graphics drivers are also updated. I have the latest direct X, scripthooks, etc. I even checked the integrity of the game files with steam and I run the game as an administrator. Any other ideas or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks! P.S. I run it on my 20 inch 1600 x 900 monitor, not the 15.6 inch 1080p built in monitor.

austinslater
I mean I've played it with and without any mods but the crashing still persists no matter what.
Red Hat
What's the error shown when the game crashes?
austinslater
It says either GTA IV has stopped working (windows is looking for a solution to the problem). Or it says unrecoverable fault. When I do have a successful session with no crashes, it still displays an out of memory message when I exit the game.
Red Hat
How much vRAM does your laptop have?
austinslater
Roughly 4 gigs. I think 2 are shared. It's two Nvidia GEFORCE GT 650's. Each of those is a little over 2gb. GTA V says I have over 4000, GTA IV says I have like 1900. Even though I do have SLI enabled for GTA IV.
