Why Can't People Race On This Game?

There are plenty of racing crews where you can get your "proper racing" fix ;)

Best advice coming from the best person possible. Holy sh*t. Finally a reply that's worth posting in every thread concerning the subject of racing.

*starts worshipping Broughy*

Broughy is right; crews are your best bet. Think of crews as a dating website where you get a little info on your date. If it doesn't work out you can keep looking. Now think of playing with randoms like a gloryhole where you just don't know what you're going to get. Is that a man's voice you heard from in there? Why are her hands so rough and hairy? If you've resorted to gloryholes, you're pretty much saying you don't give a sh*t and your standards are non-existant. Same applies to playing with randoms. I never understood people blaming the whole GTA community when there's options to avoid such interactions with the scummiest of them.

Also, and with all due respect to any racer out there, GTA isn't really a racing game. It's got a bit of everything and doesn't really focus on something in particular. It does those things well but not expertised well, you know what I mean? So if you're playing Forza and a guy pits you, you can rage and whip out your Hummer when racing in B Class to ram him back and give him hell because there's a sort of mutual respect to each racer that should be upheld. In GTA? You gotta expect stuff like that when someone is near you considering there's a game mode (GTA Race) that spawns f*cking ROCKETS. Let that sink in. Goddamn floating icons that gives you ROCKETS. This is like a Death Race sequel but all the roles are played by Jason Statham.

I do races from time to time and the best way to do them is to have fun and not get frustrated about other players. Yeah, it sucks when someone pits you and I totally get if you don't want to join a crew (they got rules/not always online/etc.) but getting angry at people you'll never meet again isn't worth it. Just go out there and race. Have fun with it. Maybe pit them back or play a higher role and try passing them again. A little text, "clean racing, I see" doesn't hurt if you want to vent (but generally not worth it - I've gotten 8==D texted back a few times). :)

Problem with racing crews is that many of them have moved onto the PS4/One/PC, and that lots of other ones are full of drama queens and people mainly interested in dick waving, whether it be their speed/skill or their sway within the crew.

I'd like to find a 360-based racing crew, but the only ones I've actually bumped into in-game are those whiny types that start yelling every time there is even a little bumping (think touring car or rallycross style, not trying to wreck people) and then start demanding people are kicked from the lobby or crew.

I just want some people who like to race cleanly and take the competition seriously but won't get worked up about it every time someone rubs doorhandles with them.

Lag plays a big part in races and it's something people never mention. I've had friends who I know race clean hit me on one side, only to teleport and smack me again from the rear of the opposite side. You can't tell me that's a person deciding to act that way.

Also lag is evidenced when you "hit" cars and people in any mode of the game where you never actually made contact with them on your end (not the most common thing but I've seen it multiple times) and on their end they see you hit them and things like that.

So factor in lag affecting placement and movement of players on both ends and not seeing it accurately, there's that problem. Then there's people being bad at racing.

I prefer non contact to get rid of all that bs, at least then it comes down to being better than the others at least 90% compared to contact which is a complete f*ck fest from sh*t drivers to sh*t lag.

Crews and friends are the only way to even come close to ensuring a clean race on all ends.

I have never heard of a racing crew for PC so far, otherwise I would have applied.....

It's really like this: Rockstar did their best to encourage immature, asshole behavior throughout every aspect of GTA Online.

In the few places where they failed at this, and players could still play fair, the GTA Online player population took up the slack to ensure that the game basically consists of nothing but unfairness and rage. Win - win. :p

Mate, you're going to have to get used to the P.I.T. maneuver...

Because it's going to be your greatest enemy and your best friend...

Pretty much the best way to win races is to stay second and slipstream up to first, then P.I.T. the guy before he wins...

Because the majority of people who race on GTA O are too young to do so in real life

So the people that are great at killing in this game are killers in real life?

You're telling me you don't kill hookers and drive them into your garage hoping for money to rain down upon you?

I must be doing something wrong.

Well players can't drive for sh*t in GTA. I was in a Hipster Death Rally race with 10 players. On the first corner 7 players exploded for crashing into the propane tank barrier. But there are some good racers out there. A player was ahead of me by a full minute in 3 laps of Nurburgring,I finished in second place.

The only reason people ram you or pit you is because its the only way they can win.

However, the ironic thing is, most of the time they dont win any way!
While it can be annoying that they pit you, its also funny seeing crash while trying it, and seeing them not win either.

Drive to expect it, if someone is about to ram into the side of you, be ready to turn into them and they will come off worse most of the time.

Let them all crash on the first corner, pick your way through it and take the lead.

Most of the time you they leave catch up on, which is to your advantage too.

Loads of times I have been pitted and ended up last, only to use catch up to get back into 1st and win :)

i wouldn't say immediately go for the lead with catch-up turned on

unless i'm completely confident that all but maybe one or two other racers are so bad that even catch-up won't save them, i always wait until i'm 80% sure the race is just about half over to start worrying about gaining the lead- until then, i just keep myself within the top half of the race, staying close to whoever's in first place, but still a safe distance away. this way, i'm ready to overtake them when i feel like the time is right

immediately going for the lead when catch-up is on is a bad idea, because more times than not, almost everybody in the race will be hell-bent on pit maneuvering the guy in first place, meanwhile ramming other cars before they reach you, or completely ignoring them just so they can catch up to you faster so they can move in for their little kindergarten fender-bender.

I'm not sure what your problem is?!

The only problem I've had with racing is that everyone uses lagswitches, speedhacks, trainers etc and it's so prevalent that I don't even know hoow you even got past that point and started worrying about intended game mechanics...

First of all, this is not a bitch/moan post. I was just racing and we were on a track in the LS storm drain that looped around. I set it to custom's on, standard race. We start and I overtake most of the pack but theres a dominator that I have to outbreak on the first of 4 turns. I do that and I am ahead for all of the race. There is 1 car only racing me at this point as all the others were raging because I was winning and they are trying to take the oncoming cars out. On the final straight, I am ahead but a sabre turbo hits me head on which sends me away from the track leaving second place win. I was fine to leave this go.

Second race with the same people, we are doing a track in the city. Same scenario again, It comes to me and the guy ho was driving the dominator last race but this time he PIT's me which puts me into 3rd, I make back second place but you get the same scenario again with people driving head on to take others out. I was annoyed as I was robbed of a win again as I made it back to around 5 metres away from 1st by the end of the race.

Third and final race, people attempt to take me out but its in Fort Zancudo so I have a lot of space to avoid being hit. I end up winning. My question to you is why can't people race without being sore losers to ruin the race for everyone? Anyone else have this kind of issue? I would love to name and shame these peoples gamertags but that probably isn't allowed.

sore losers? are win is a win its not our fault your too sh*t to avoid a PIT

Cause cars too hard! Need nurf.

I love it when the host migrates to me, set to non-contact, listen to the cries.

"Car won't turn!"

"I can't win without ramming!"

"He's a hacker, his sh!t car beat mine that's top of this category!"

Always be ready and always expect it, that's the only advice I can think of. I come from PC race sims and Gran Turismo so I only do it after someone has attempted it on me, I don't get any satisfaction from griefing and tbh it's harder to win legitimately.

When possible whilst I'm overtaking I drive in a different lane or on the other side of the road, to try and make it obvious that I'm trying to race fairly. The road markings and lines act as a sort of guide ie 'this is my lane, that is yours', so it's easier to judge the other players' attitude; if they're all over the place you can expect a PIT attempt soon, if they're clean and under control then you may be able to race. It's very rewarding when you find someone who wants to race fairly and you have fun with it, they always get a friend request after. I'd much rather lose every race with a bunch of clean drivers than win against a load of retarded kids

Adaptation.

Some survive and evolve.

Others are too ignorant to realize they're playing Grand Theft Auto instead of an actual racing game.

You know, where balance isn't at the height of the priority list.

You either buy the fastest, most-used, and downright hideous car and hope it wins races for you.

Or you keep the game fun by making races a challenge.

Your choice.

That's why I usually stick to motorbike races. Nobody tries taking you out in these, especially when traffic is enabled. Make one mistake, and it's all over. It's fast, and competitive. Great fun can be had ripping up the countryside backroads on a dirt bike, or blazing through rush hour traffic at 140mph on a superbike.

I like contact races, I go in knowing people are going to PIT me so I'm very aware and use it to my advantage

The whiners would have been peasants back when racing really paid off and everyone was racing.

Its GTA not Forza, the physics are basic there is not much separation between cars, avoiding the mayhem is part of the game

I made a dirtbike race in the country, hosted it. After 20 minutes of nobody, one guy joined, sent me a message asking me to please change it to supers, and then left before I could even answer.

"making races a challenge."? Oh! You mean like they PIT eachother in F1? No wait, maybe I mean Rally? No wait, that's not right either...

What kinda racing involves constantly PIT-ing the other contestants again? Uh-huh, that's what I thought.
