Why Can't People Race On This Game?

First of all, this is not a bitch/moan post. I was just racing and we were on a track in the LS storm drain that looped around. I set it to custom's on, standard race. We start and I overtake most of the pack but theres a dominator that I have to outbreak on the first of 4 turns. I do that and I am ahead for all of the race. There is 1 car only racing me at this point as all the others were raging because I was winning and they are trying to take the oncoming cars out. On the final straight, I am ahead but a sabre turbo hits me head on which sends me away from the track leaving second place win. I was fine to leave this go.

 

Second race with the same people, we are doing a track in the city. Same scenario again, It comes to me and the guy ho was driving the dominator last race but this time he PIT's me which puts me into 3rd, I make back second place but you get the same scenario again with people driving head on to take others out. I was annoyed as I was robbed of a win again as I made it back to around 5 metres away from 1st by the end of the race.

 

Third and final race, people attempt to take me out but its in Fort Zancudo so I have a lot of space to avoid being hit. I end up winning. My question to you is why can't people race without being sore losers to ruin the race for everyone? Anyone else have this kind of issue? I would love to name and shame these peoples gamertags but that probably isn't allowed.

if you have a basic understanding of racing, youre generaly good

most people dont race often, and if they do they are rather interested in techniques on how to pit a player instead of focusing on how to take corners

They are just like people who think they are MLG shooting pros, yet only use stickys/lockon rockets and hide in their armored cars. Those racers always say they are pro but refuse to do no contact races and if someone gets ahead of them they rage and do all they can to ram them off the road. And if they have no shot of winning they exit the race so their record doesn't register the loss.

That'll either keep the kids out, or stop em from being annoying.

 

Also, most folks drive using the keyboard... not exactly the most accurate way to drive.

I've considered disbanding the crew I own and manage JUST to get in good with an actual racing crew...

Non-Contact is also annoying as you can't defend your position as people can just drive through you (and my defending I don't mean ramming them into oblivion). I am on Xbox so I don't get the keyboard driver problem . I may find a racing crew, or I may make one myself.

That's why I do non-contact when I host. I'm sick of public races where it's always people are playing a demolition derby instead of actually racing. And the guy in last place usually gets butthurt and starts driving backwards so he can ruin everyone else's time.

 

I'm also sick of people leaving traffic on. Turns the whole thing into a game of chance because the retarded AI is unpredictable, if not outright glitching/lagging.

Traffic can be really annoying. Especially when the race has barriers or other props going over lanes of traffic which spazzes the NPC cars out. There really needs to be a way to rate the experience you have had with each player at the end of a race so in the lobby or stats they have likes and dislikes but on their gamertags to show if they are fair racers. Yet again this could be abused. There is no way for good racers to have a fair rac without joining a sepcial crew.

Honestly something is off with the driving in this game, can't put my finger on it. I still find it fairly enjoyable but I have more trouble controlling the cars than, say, in GRID or some NFS games which are fairly comparable. As a result I tend to bump into people, not on purpose.

 

That said, many people are just dicks, I thought you'd know about that by now, and GTAO brings up the worst in people.

 

That and there's also lag so sometimes you can be spinning someone out without even knowing about it.

This, I only like playing non-contact races. Contact races IMO are just bumper cars, I actually enjoy trying to drive as fast as possible around a track.

They couldn't have simply bought an Xbox controller for racing? I don't see how a keyboard would be easy for races, when in reality its just as tedious as playing Street Fighter with an Atari joystick.

I'm one of the few who use firstperson while driving. For sp is fine but online people just think you're a d!ck. I'm too kind with racing because of this, cuz I give other racers a wide birth cuz I don't like ramming others off the road but in FP it's hard to avoid cuz I can't see to my sides.

My point is, not every racer is a d!ck... but the majority are. Kids!

In GTA they think they're a combo of the Terminator (they probably can't even name him IRL), The Rock (same as Terminator) and Batman (If you can't name him you're worse than a kid) when in reality watching them play any game is like watching Seth try to run in Superbad. When it comes to driving they seem to confuse motorsport with bumper cars and are always ramming and pitting, or at least trying to, and screaming "HACKER!!" down the mic when one of their pit maneuvers fails.

Non-Contact makes a easy win in some cases, I was doing some races one night and got tired of Demolition Derby. I set the next race to Non-Contact. Right off the bat like half the players tried to ram each other and all spun out like idiots. #Easy1stPlace
