dunbrine47
Anybody here use the Elgato HD for thier capturing purposes? I went looking through the official website and help files and could not find an answer to my problem. It also sucks that they no longer have an official forum (or I would be there). When I record, most of the time the footage comes out perfectly. Then there are other times where this happens: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuZAycdsD9E&feature=youtu.be or this: Strange thing is youtube is displaying different frames of the video then when I playback the file on my computer. After talking it over with my friend, I'm thinking the main culprit is my hard drive. We were studying the task manager stats during recordings, processor still has plenty of room to work (the work load is evenly spaced across the four cores), there is at least two gb of ram (out of four) that is not used during recording. While looking at the disk read/write stats, there were times where these huge peaks would show up. The rest of the time the activity was constantly low. Is it that sometimes the hard drive can not accept all this new data being written to it and decides to create files using limited frames? It's like I take a gamble whenever I hit that record button. P.S If anybody is interested in my laptop's stats: Lenovo G50OS: 8.1 64-bit Ram: 4gb Processor: Intel Core i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70ghz 2.40ghz
swirler
I use a hauppauge myself. I assume the laptop is being used solely to record the footage - and not play the game on? ^^' Streaming 1080p isnt that intensive so the spec should be more than enough. Is there capture settings you can alter? It may be trying to record at lossless levels of detail, which isnt needed, that could cause some choking. Just to record (or as my friends joked how it would look if ran on my comp). I'm going to try to dial down some settings to see if that helps next session. swirler
I don't suppose capturing on your PC is an option? Nvidias shadowplay has great quality.

Unfortunately I don't have access to a PC for capture purposes (only one that would be able to is unable to be moved to the recording site).
