Hey!

I was wondering, which game do you prefer and why? GTA V or Watch_Dogs?

Sometime ago I made a (somewhat) detailed comparison between the two in a YouTube comment in "GTA V vs Watch_Dogs" video, because people either said that this game sucks or that game sucks. For me, they're two completely different games to compare. I honestly can't decide which one I prefer. Each has its own charm.

Which game do you prefer and why? Please vote and share your thoughts :)

(!) The following are just my opinions (!)
* Watch_Dogs' gameplay is focused on realism, but more importantly on FUN.
- It doesn't try to be anything more than a fun game that tells an interesting story.
- I got lost doing all the side-activities in Watch_Dogs. They were repetetive, but fun. Not so much fun freeroaming and fooling around though.
- Loved the stealth element of Watch_Dogs. Way better than being Rambo all the time.
* GTA V gameplay is also focused on FUN, and also realism.
- Only it isn't much realistic.
- Like Watch_Dogs, it doesnn't try to be anything more than a fun game to play, and tell an interesting story.
- I also got lost doing all the side-activities in GTA V. They weren't repetetive, and I had so much fun freeroaming and just fooling around. Especially as Trevor.
* Hacking aside, Watch_Dogs beats every single GTA so far in terms of realism.
- Especially GTA IV and GTA V.
- Cops were a threat - you could never win against them in a gun fight. Especially once they get the chopper. Just like in real life.
- Love how the game actually had difficulties. I completed it twice - once on hard and once on "realistic", only to find out there wasn't much of a difference.
- Hate the auto-healing thing, but it's a necessary evil.
* GTA IV and GTA V both try hard to be somewhat realistic.
- Only they aren't even close for the most part.
- More realistic than previous GTA's, sure. Realistic? Sort of.
- I love how challenging the GTA V cops were compared to previous games. Rather than make them mindless, fat idiots that can't aim, this time R* made them tough and a lot harder than previous games. Not realistic, but definitely an improvement!
- Hate the auto-healing thing, but it's a necessary evil.
* Watch_Dogs shooting system was top notch.
- It was somewhat realistic
- Way better than that of most GTA's.
- Too much accuaracy in my opinion.
- None of that Call of Duty crap.
- Similar to Michael's special ability in GTA V, you could use bullet time in Watch_Dogs as well, which makes the shooting rather easy, but also better.
* GTA V's shooting system was also top noch.
- It was somewhat realistic.
- Way better than that of previous GTA games.
- It actually required some skill, unlike previous GTA's (especially GTA III Era).
- None of that Call of Duty nonesense.
- Michael's special ability makes the shooting rather easy, but also better.
* Watch_Dogs' driving system was okay.
- Not realistic, but nice.
- It operates a lot like a racing video game.
- Similar to Franklin's ability in GTA V, you could also slow down time when in a car and make easy maneuvers. Which makes the driving in Watch_Dogs so much enjoyable!
* GTA V's driving system operates more like a racing video game (which isn't a bad thing)
- Not realistic, but nice.
- Kinda feels like Need for Speed.
- Franklin's special ability makes it so much better.
- Not the best driving system in the GTA series - I think San Andreas had a superior one where you felt like you actually drove a car.
* Watch_Dogs has a great world for you to explore.
- The city of Chicago and its surroundings are so beautiful!
- Great atmosphere!
- Not many things for you to collect, which only leaves you exploring the big world after a certain point.
- Still an infinite number of repetitive side-activities. But what's the point really?
- So much better than GTA IV's world in my opinion.
* GTA V has a great world to fool around, which is at least a couple of times bigger than Watch_Dogs' Chicago
- The city of Los Angeles Los Santos and its surroundings are more than just beautiful!
- Amazing atmosphere!
- Not so much hidden things to collect though, which only leaves you exploring the HUGE world after a certain point (unlike GTA III, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas)
- You can still spend tens of hours just fooling around in the huge world... and not get bored (unlike Watch_Dogs).
- Interaction with pedestrians can be hilarious, especially if you play as Trevor.
- You can flip off anyone and anything.
* Watch_Dogs doesn't have animals you can interact with.
- Not a biggie.
- How come a game be named "Watch DOGS"... and not have a single dog in it anyway?
* GTA V has a variety of animals you can interact with.
- Adds to the atmosphere and the game's overall appeal.
- You can even play with "your" dog.
- I hate the hunting missions. I would never complete them.
* Watch_Dogs has an okay storyline.
- But it can't be compared to any of the GTA storylines so far.
- Not saying it's bad by any means.
* GTA V has a way better storyline.
- Although not as long as San Andreas or IV for example (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), not counting the secondary missions.
- In my opinion one of the best GTA storylines yet (along with GTA III and Vice City).
- With a lot of side-missions/ strangers and freaks for each of the three characters.
* Watch_Dogs' missions can get repetitive (not necessarily a bad thing).
- Especially the side missions/crimes.
- As repetitive as they are, they're also a lot of fun as you build your skills
- I for one spend more than half my time doing side-activities in WD).
- Most missions can be completed in an aggressive or a stealth manner.
- Some of the missions sucked ass.
* GTA V missions are far more variable.
- Like Watch_Dogs, some missions sucked ass (I hated all the truck missions in particular).
- You don't have much of a choice whether to be stealthy or not, unlike Watch_Dogs.
* Watch_Dogs has an okay main character.
- But also a little bit dull with not so much personality.
- A rather generic anti-hero.
- Too much of a Batman wannabe?
- Loved his wardrobe (which is more than I can say for Trevor and Franklin's default clothes).
- Loved the mysterious vigilante aspect of him.
* GTA V has better main characters.
- All of whom were better characters than Aiden Pearce.
* Watch_Dogs lacks good supporting characters.
- I really loved Jordi, Clara and Al Jourgensen T-Bone.
- Aiden's sister and nephew were okay too.
- Didn't care that much about the other characters.
* GTA V doesn't have that many good supporting characters either.
- Unlike previous GTA games.
- I liked Lamar, Lester, Michael's family, Norton and Ron.
- The fitness lady was nice too.
- Didn't care that much about the other supporting characters.
- Wade sucks.
* Watch_Dogs' antagonists are boring and forgetabble.
- Period.
* GTA V's antagonists are boring and forgettable for the most part.
- Unlike previous GTA antagonists, most of whom were great - namely Frank Tenpenny, Big Smoke, Catalina, Sonny Forelli, and even Dimitri.
- GTA V's anagagonists weren't that bad though.
* Watch_Dogs has an awesome choice of music in its radio station.
- No fake rap or autotune pop for the most part.
- Far better than GTA V's radio IMO.
- Great classic and alternative rock.
- Lots of great blues.
- You could change the songs if you don't want to listen to them by pressing a button.
* GTA V might have the worst music in the GTA series yet.
- Lots of fake rap and lots of computer recorded autotune pop (C.R.A.P.)
- The rock radio was nowhere near as good as in Vice City, San Andreas or IV, although is still has some great songs.
* Not sure if Watch_Dogs supports mods or not...
- and frankly, I don't care. The game is amazing either way.
* GTA V doesn't support that many of mods as of now...
- and judging by the not so many good GTA IV mods, GTA V will most likely not have that many good mods either.
- Unlike GTA San Andreas for example.
* Watch_Dogs took me four or five days to complete its storyline the first time I played it in 2014.
- I completed it twice in a row - once on hard and once on realistic difficulty (sadly it was rather easy on both).
- I'd still pick Watch_Dogs over GTA IV anytime for its gameplay and the fun I had playing it.
- Storywise, I'd pick any GTA game over Watch_Dogs, including IV.
* GTA V took me about five days to complete the first time I played it when it came out on PC recently.
- After that I didn't do much but explore the city and complete the side tasks.
- The game got a little bit boring after some time exploring the wilderness.
- I got back to playing San Andreas with all the mods I have, but I still fool around in GTA V occasionally.
- Actually, I'm currently playing GTA V storyline again, only this time I'm more focused on the fun of it, rather than completing the missions.
* Graphically, Watch_Dogs looks slightly "older" than GTA V. (maybe because it is)
- While it has a lot of nice details, it is nowhere near as detailed as GTA V is.
- It was kind of a letdown that the graphics weren't quite as they looked in its early trailers.
- Still more than decent graphics.
- Good gameplay is always more important than good graphics.
- You DON'T need a NASA computer to run Watch_Dogs smoothly.
* Graphically, GTA V is awesome!
- It has countless little, trivial, and not-so-trivial details that no one cares about, yet R* still decided to do add them. It makes the game so much better.
- In a world as huge as that of GTA V, it's amazing how they managed to do all those stuff.
- If it looked good on a console, it looks a hundred times better on PC with max settings.
- Good gameplay is far more important than good graphics.
- You DO need a NASA computer to run GTA V (and IV) smoothly.

Overall I love both games almost equally, but it's difficult to say which one is better. I think Watch_Dogs is the only worthy "GTA-clone" so far. In terms of storyline, I'd pick up GTA V anytime (not saying Watch_Dogs is bad). In terms of a good gameplay, I can go either way, depending on whether I want to explore Chicago as Batman or Los Angeles Santos as Rambo. What about you? :catloaf:

You're asking what is better, GTA or Watch Dogs, on a GTA forum. Do you know what you're getting yourself into?

>watch dogs has great classic rock

Bullsh*t. There's no classic rock in that game.

Watch Dogs isn't fit to lick GTA Vs boots. It's a good first try I guess for Ubisoft

^Which is why I don't bother with all these pre-release game videos anymore. Never even touched the game, and after seeing that video, I really don't want to at all.

Yay, another pointless comparison thread.
