SirKev7
I've written up a little report stating my opinions on the controversy surrounding GTA V and its treatment of women. I'd like to see how many people agree with me, if any at all haha Prostitutes/Strip Clubs -This is a game trying to mimic criminal life in a satirical world. Prostitutes and Strip Clubs do exist in real life and it is what many criminals get up to at night, so of course a game about crime is going to have it in there -Most of the female characters are jokes and people were supposed to laugh at and dislike There's a lot of men in the game that we are supposed to laugh at dislike too. There's more of these kinds of men than the ones were supposed to like too. Truth is, the majority of characters featured in GTA are pretty awful people. There are however, some men that the game does take seriously. Unfortunately, there aren't really any such female characters in GTA V because of the lack of female roles. I will talk more about this later on. -Advertisements on bill boards and radios. e.g: "use woman as urinals", "Smell like a bitch" I see these as a satire about the way things are marketed to people these days. That's it. There isn't much else I have to say about it. -Very little female characters will be seen working. Nearly all of the police, firebregade ect are men. You are more likely to find a woman topless on a beach or walking around in revealing clothes. This is a criticism I mostly agree with. If Rockstar had added more policewomen, firewomen or more female NPCs doing something contributing towards society I don't think a lot of this controversy would exist because women would exist in the game for reasons other than being prostitutes or jokes. I think that for the next GTA, Rockstar should work on making women more relevant to the game. Add more female NPCs doing something useful, have strong female characters as part of the plot or maybe even have a playable female character. When you mention men in GTA V, most people will think of the main characters, which are characters that develop over time and have a strong role in the game. These are some of the few characters that aren't complete jokes. As there is no female main character, when you mention women in GTA V people will think of the prostitutes or the strippers. It isn't a fair comparison really. Does GTA V respect women? No, not really. But it doesn't really respect men either. It doesn't respect anybody. Its a satire of todays world. The main characters are the only people the game gives any respect to and as there is no main female characters... You get the point.
makchamp
Men are portrayed as drug addicts, criminals, low lifes, alcoholics, etc.. I'm tired of this feminist bullsh*t in our society today. They love acting like victims when they're in fact privileged. Igor Bogdanoff, UltraGizmo64, SirKev7 and 2 others

lolznc
I agree, GTA needs more women shown as fire fighters or police officers. These types of thread are always teetering on the edge. People end up banned and the treads get locked. This nearly happened on the Female Protagonist thread not long a go, and a certain prolific member ended up banned as a result. Please, lets just try to keep gender politics down a little, okay? Plus, we've already had this discussion, and I'm fairly sure it got locked. (and for the record, I identify as a feminist and I see fairly little wrong with V, or any other GTA game)
SuperGTFan
Rockstar should hire up professional female writers instead.
