Possible way to tell if someone leaving is a quit or a disconnect?

Lately when I'm doing heists, I notice that when someone leaves and you see their name grayed out on the quick restart screen, I get one of two failure messages.

 

• [Role] left (i.e. Crowd control left)
• [Role] failed (i.e. Crowd control failed)

I'm thinking when you get the "left" message, that person actually quit out while if you get the "failed" message then that person lagged out or got disconnected. Is this true or not?

 

If not, then does anyone know what causes these mysterious "failed" messages?

No, failed generally means they messed up their objective without dying, such as on PB finale demolition fails when their target bus arrives in the prison, and pilot fails when they don't get to the Sandy Shores area in time.

 

But sometimes it can also mean they left or the game just randomly decided that you failed.

I think it depends on the objective, as I've had people quit and it said failed. I.e, someone has the convoy truck in pacific standard and quits it will say failed, but in this same game, say they didn't drive the truck but left it would say that they left.

 

TL;DR, I don't think there is any way of truly telling between quit and disconnecting.

How did Crowd control make a name with a space in it? I think he's a hacker.

Either way, left means he's gone, failed means he's dead. So I guess we'll never know.

I believe that there is a number pad code to put in that adds a space in most username slots without it reading as a space

their console and throw it out the window

I've said it before, even games that track disconnects as a stat, can't distinguish between a person quitting or loss of connection therefore they are synonymous.

no OP i dont think thats the case...

 

while i was doing humane labs elite challenge, there were days i had lag issues and would get disconnected amid mission.

 

on my screen said "pilot left" but in reality it was me leaving.

when i or someone else has lagged out it mostly does say ******* FAILED so i think you and your crazy cars are right giants

It can say failed or lefted when a player lags out. It will still say failed if a player generally does something wrong.
