Marksman vs Heavy

Nope just a personal preference. I didnt start a thread like alot that scream "The Marksman rifle needs to nerfed!!" or "The Marksman rifle is OP". Stated neither one.

To be fair, you titled the thread "Marksman ruined sniping." Generally, if someone believes something is so good (OP) that it ruined an aspect of the game, s/he would want it fixed (nerfed, in this case). I don't really mind if people have complaints, but own that s#!*, man.

Right, "Generally", maybe I worded the title wrong. Regardless, I smash people with the Marksman all the time, my post was simple making the point that I missed the days of zoom in, one shot. As far as now, I would say the game is nicely balanced. Last thing that I thought was unbalanced was when the tanks came out back in 13'. 12 shots RPG, etc. Some people have brought up some good points about variety of snipers, and it makes sense. Fair play. Keep on keepin' on, then.

You damn straight, If I could change the title of this topic I would. "Ruined" was likely too strong of a word. My point was I missed the days of one shot one kill, but other perspectives have been brought to my attention. But hell, after getting smacked by it a couple times, I started using it, and I actually like the Marksman. Got good with it too.

I find it difficult getting one shot kills with the marksman. My aim and look around speeds are maxed out, because I feel like this helps me get quick kills with my ARs in a deathmatch. However this is a bitch in freemode which is all about sniping because you spawn so far apart. Aiming a sniper to hit one pixel is tricky with such sensitive settings.

As long as you keep your distance you've got one hell of an advantage...

 

Other than that, just pull out your minigun and spray the area the marksman user is moving side to side/rolling in... in short, area denial..

Heavy Sniper : armor-piercing semi-auto sniper rifle ( still slow due bolt-action while using scope ) . almost any victim in crosshair cannot whitstand 1 shot because of armor-piercing capabilities , not even highest defense attained ( maxed HP , full strength , 100% strength & brucie's steroids ) can stop it . despite being armor-piercing , it can't pierce vehicle's roof or even door . other than firing rate , 6 magazine is also makes difference between normal sniper ( which has 10 magazine but not powerful as heavy sniper )

 

Marksman Sniper : semi-automatic sniper rifle ( the fastest sniper in-game as well highest magazine due to low damage ) . this rifle allow user to move at cost of incapable zooming ( perfect choice for " allow movement when zoom " turned off ) while using the scope . it's heavily abused by " Negative player " because it's faster than heavy sniper which cause a rant for " Positive player " ( they claimed no skill for using Marksman Sniper )

One thing I notice though, is that if you're sniping properly and doing it with people in the middle of a bunfight somewhere, most don't have the time to pick you off because of closer threats..

 

It's only when one person makes a determined effort to get you that it becomes a problem.. most of the time they're too busy taking on those things right in front of them to do so..

The rare times I've been dominated has been thanks to Marksmen Rifle users. Some of them kill me before I can even aim

 

I'm good with the heavy sniper, and just okay with the Marksmen. The issue I have is my joystick is f*cked, so the aim automatically veers to the left, so half the time I'm trying to control that

Nowadays it's like everyone is doing Zorba the Greek just to get a shot on target.

 

Get good or die. You gotta adjust to these new weapons. People are learning new ways to defend themselves. Staying in one spot is just useless.

 

Marksman rifles has it's disadvantages:

1) You can't zoom in

2) The range is awful compared to the heavy sniper

3) Less damage each bullet

 

So I think it evens out.

I am the OP, and i acknowledge that the title was misleading for what I was trying to point out. And I asked management to change the title because people thought I was asking for the Marksman to get nerfed (not my intention, I use it often). Even before they changed it, it did not register as B&M criteria, it never risked being put in B&M. I asked for them to change it because I wanted to see more ideas, viewpoints from all of you. Not insults, like a few posters here did. The majority gave their opinion, either agreed or didn't, and gave reasons. You gave your reasons. Thanks

I'd rather use heavy because of the range and recoil, marksman is good but we got the move while sniping upgrade on ps3, so there you go.

Marksman has definitely changed how you have to move while sniping. When it was all heavy sniping, it was about zooming with accuracy the fastest. I've seen some guys that bounce like jumping beans when using a marksman. I'm good with the marksman, but I have run into a few who can beast me on it.

 

Oh yea, another thing I've noticed, when you are not zoomed all the way in with the heavy sniper, the hitbox is larger, so sometimes I feel its better to not be zoomed all the way in.

The only advantage that the Marksman has over the others is mag size and RoF.

 

On every console you should be able to toggle "move while zoomed" (up and down on the D-Pad are turned into zoom control). This removes the Marksman's previous advantage.

 

The Marksman is also at a disadvantage due to the lack of variable zoom.

 

But the choice comes down to playstyle. Do you prefer to hit hard from afar? Heavy Sniper. Do you prefer to RoF and play closer up? Marksman RIfle.

Maybe so, it wasn't my intention though. My first post basically just said I missed the days of heavy sniper sniping. No bitching there. Regardless got a lot of good responses. No offense taken. And keep in mind bro, this topic was up for a couple days with the original title and post, it was not locked unlike other topics that were. Like I said, I asked for the title to be changed myself. And the majority of ppl didn't answer it like a "B&M". I could count on one hand the few that did.

TBH, I absolutely suck donkey balls with the Marksman. It just gets bouncing around so much that I do a better job of drawing my enemy's outline than I do actually killing them. I'm pretty deadly with the heavy sniper though...and I definitely enjoy the range advantage.

Well yup, marskman rifle its not as good as the heavy sniper in terms of range and damage, but in the hands of a good shooter you can get killed with a strafe of 2 or 3 bullets right between your eyebrows.

 

I consider myself an expert with the heavy sniper, but not the best using it lol.

I use the heavy exclusively, unless I'm fighting a low level in which case I use a hand gun.... it sucks that you let others dictate your tactics.

I may work with the heavy sniper more days to come. Another question I have for. I just recently switched to PS4, is there no variable zoom on the heavy in PS4? There was one on PS3.

i dont think it ruined sniping, i think the addition of the marksman force people into being more selective with it target, the location, etc etc...

 

i dont know in newgen but on ps3 the marksman and the other rifles have the same range.

 

back in the day it was sniper rifle vs sniper rifle, whoever managed to zoom, aim and fire first was the likely winner.

 

now not so much!

 

Takes more skill to hit someone while your moving and they're moving then just standing still op. Sitting stationary is for the campers who can't gun battle IMO.

The marksman has a much longer range than the mgs and rifles. It's funny when someone is firing his minigun and I'm a few meters out of range and kill him with my marksman.

The problem on ps3 is the sh*tty draw distance inside the city. The heavy sniper has no advantage when the enemy isn't rendered.
