I use snipers in pretty much every game I play, so I do just fine with a heavy sniper, never used a marksman

Before anything else...I know you heard it before OP:

You started off with mentioning the B&M so it further proves my point that it needs to be in the B&M thread.

I also enjoyed it better when there wasn't any option to move whilst zoomed in/ in scope view.

 

Nowadays it's like everyone is doing Zorba the Greek just to get a shot on target.

 

 

Get good or die. You gotta adjust to these new weapons. People are learning new ways to defend themselves. Staying in one spot is just useless.

 

Marksman rifles has it's disadvantages:

1) You can't zoom in

2) The range is awful compared to the heavy sniper

3) Less damage each bullet

 

So I think it evens out.

 

I personally use the marksman rifle and heavy sniper depending on my surroundings.

I would consider myself a pretty good sniper in this game, but last night I ran into some guy who was VERY good at using the marksman rifle. He got 2 headshots on me in a row no problem. I kind of forgot how powerful that damn thing is.

Staying in one spot at least retains some of the realism of the game (recoil and accuracy), and the dignity of the person doing it (rather than dancing around left and right)...

Kept one guy at a distance when he was using marksman, he tried to strafe so I just did the same thing. He moved right fired and missed. My shot was lined right as his neck too. So he tries strafing more and I did the same thing but this time I zoomed out a tad aimed for his chest. He just kept going back and forth so I stopped and waited for him to mess up and the guy did walked right in front of my dot...BANG!

Heavy is still superior if you hit them in the sweet spots it will usually end in 1 shot kill.

 

Neck, Head, Heart if they're running across the street go for inner thigh, crotch or just wait for their head to get into view as they run and fire. Wouldn't believe how many people I pissed off shooting them in the thigh killing them as they ran across the road. "f*cking bitch sniped me"

I use the heavy exclusively, unless I'm fighting a low level in which case I use a hand gun.... it sucks that you let others dictate your tactics.

I'm the type of player that sticks to, if you cant beat them, join them. So yes, I use the marksman because if I try to use the heavy sniper I get spammed. Some people are extremely good at the marksman so you are shooting yourself in the foot if you don't use it against a decent player. I do miss the good ole days though where the heavy sniper was thing to do. Accuracy, timing, angle, to me sniping took more skill back then. This is an opinion, not a bitch and moan, I adjusted, and I use the marksman now. Lol, it just reminds me of quickscoping and sniping in Black ops 2 and getting spammed with an SVU by your opponent.

What does angle have anything to do with sniping? Will the virtual bullet curve through the air? Will gravity affect it? Will the bullet ricochet off walls and into the target? No. Because there is no bullet.

I use the heavy pretty much exclusively, and tend to win the majority of my sniper battles even against marksman users. The trick is to just get outside their comfortable range and use your greater zoom power against them. You also need to be able to move and snipe at the same time. Your goal is to be far enough away that it's easier for you to aim than it is for them, and move around just enough that they can't zero in on you and spam you to death. Then just remember - it only takes 1-2 hits from your weapon to drop them.

 

I will occasionally lose to a really good marksman player at longer range, but if they're that good they probably would beat you with the heavy, too. It's misleading to assume that the weapon is the only thing that's doing you in.

Sniping was ruined from day 1 because enemies can shoot you from over 500 meters away in cover with a pistol

Your problem is that you only want to use one sniper rifle. The solution is to switch up tactics as nessissary. I prefer to use he heavy sniper myself, but if I'm being counter sniped and end up too close to my target, I'll switch to the marksman. You really only want to be using the heavy rifle at maximum range, but if your quick it can be effective at closer ranges too. One shot is faster than two every time. Rockstar gives you multiple powerful tools and it's up to you to most effectively utilize them.

It doesn't matter how many times you shoot me with a marksman, it only take one good shot to take you down with a heavy sniper. Plus, I have zoom. I very rarely lose to Marksman rifles in sniper duels.

If you are talking about the damage of the heavy sniper being broken I agree with you. It should be a one shot kill no matter where you hit them. A .50 cal round is going to destroy anything it hits. Even if you get hit in the ankle you will bleed out in a matter of minutes because your entire foot would be gone.

Try using a Marksman Rifle while sitting on the firing side of a helicopter or calling a Merryweather Helicopter.

 

You can ZOOM the Marksman Rifle inside a helicopter. Talk about game breaking.

Marksman is the best weapon in gta imo..

 

I call it "the noob killer" because any fool can hold L2 and then press R2 for an autoaim kill but not everyone is that good at getting that tiny white dot pointed directly at someone's head from a few hundred yards away. Especially under pressure..

I remember use to loving marksmen rifles in Call of Duty. Mainly because it's a mixture of sniper guns and assault rifles. It gives you the flexibility and benefits of both gun categories. It has a magnified aim lens, fires quickly like a assault rifle and is deadly like a sniper.

 

I don't recommend challenging players who is a professional with this gun unless you are really far away. They can miss a few shots and still kill you very quickly. You'll have to be incredibly fast at aiming a heavy sniper rifle and not miss your chest/head shot. You can see how it is definitely more easy to become a expert in using a marksmen rifle.

Nope just a personal preference. I didnt start a thread like alot that scream "The Marksman rifle needs to nerfed!!" or "The Marksman rifle is OP". Stated neither one. To be fair, you titled the thread "Marksman ruined sniping." Generally, if someone believes something is so good (OP) that it ruined an aspect of the game, s/he would want it fixed (nerfed, in this case). Right, "Generally", maybe I worded the title wrong. Regardless, I smash people with the Marksman all the time, my post was simple making the point that I missed the days of zoom in, one shot. As far as now, I would say the game is nicely balanced. Last thing that I thought was unbalanced was when the tanks came out back in 13'. 12 shots RPG, etc. Some people have brought up some good points about variety of snipers, and it makes sense.

Facepalm, I guess giving an opinion these days automatically qualifies as going to Bitch & Moan? What are you guys problem? Don't like people that disagree with ya?
