RmpTebow15
It's insanely good for missions, but even a monkey could shoot one down with a homing rocket. Hydra is better for Freeroam, but the Savage is best for missions, because it spawns at helipad and has no missile cooldown. I'd say it's worth it if you already have a Hydra. If not, save up for one of those instead. Yeah I've made up my mind I'm just gonna save for the hydra. Question, does the hydra only spawn at the airport or does it spawn at multiple locations like choppers etc?

LS airport, Mackenzie, and Sandy Shores. It's not a huge problem, in freemode, just go there in passive. In missions, the drive is extra money lol. My apartment is only a mile away from LS airport so I should be good Dagger311
Ghost XB
I recommend the Buzzard as its so much easier to fly and $200k cheaper! I own the Hydra, Savage, and Buzzard but the Buzzard is still my go-to aircraft. JC Hammer
Rabid Vulpix
Actually the Buzzard is better for Contact Missions. DON'T forget the Savage has an explosive gun, not standards like the Buzzard. Especially with randoms, don't be surprised if 2/5 missions a player will try to be the glory hog. In which they will blow up the package, coke, briefcase, etc in their foolish spamming of the explosive rounds. The Buzzard packs rockets for general use, yet standard mini guns for percise cleanups around mission sensitive items. Playing contact missions early grinding, and this guy was explosive happy and kept blowing up the objective.... I always try to keep my explosive to minimum in missions if I don't need them. No grenades, stickies etc. Rabid Vulpix

No grenades, stickies etc. People in Contact Missions like "High Priority Case" always mock me for using the old Annilhilator. It's perfect for clearing out the enclosed lower floor without blowing up the briefcase. Plus it's unlimited ammunition & transport for the whole team for only $200. Of course that's when some wannabe showoff comes by in a Savage & blows up the briefcase. Then they proceed to make bogus excuses or simply denying being at fault. RmpTebow15
Just purchased the hydra and am not disappointed. Hover mode is great for missions and it flies and handles like a dream. Too me, it feels just as fast as a lazer just a bit heavier. Key is to always put the landing gear up... I'm in the middle of the criminal mastermind challenge right now so once I get the 12 mil for that I'm also gonna buy a savage, see which one I like better. Hydra was worth it though... thebrianmo
So I've been wondering about getting the savage lately and wanted some other opinions. I have about 1.4 million currently and am thinking about getting the savage. Is it worth it's 1.9 million price tag? Advice appreciated in advance... The Savage is not worth the money IMO; it looks badass and I like that you can fire rockets non-stop; however, it's heavy and slow and I prefer the Buzzard. x Raivon x
Savage is fun - the cannon is beastmode on steroids, but I still rank the Buzzard as thee best air vehicle in GTA. Hydra is versatile, but needs alot of time to master, switching from fly to hover, when in combat. Savage feels heavy and cumbersome, 4 rockets per round are pointless, unless you wanna take out a cargobob in one go, lol. 1vs1 Buzzard vs Savage, Buzzard wins 8/10 times. Buzzard is light, easy to fly, small enough to land on most buildings and once mastered, is the king of the skys... well it used to be, before every tosser with a homing missile trys to take you out as soon as you fly within a 3 mile range, lol. Ive taken out untold Jets in a Buzzard, but now have no chance because of homing missles flying faster then my chopper, but slower then a Jet, unless you are in the desert away from homing nubs. Yeah, thing I like about the hydra is it's sort of a buzzard/jet combo. And it's easy to avoid rocket launchers. Played the Los santos connection with it early this morning and it was so easy with it...
