if i hear a high pitched voice in the lobby then its my duty to fix what the failed parent couldn't do with their children and show them gta isnt for them at that age

Sounds like your parents failed. Does it make you feel all high and mighty to pick on children? Who cares if they are playing GTA.
there's is why there is a rating on the box. but again some parents are either just lazy to raise their kids so they put them in front of a tv and let tv teach them or they are uneducated in the esrb rating system. you cant compare our gta's from back then with now. graphics have improved as well as detail.

and my parents didnt fail me funny guy I got to play gta when i was 17 when the time was right to play it.

there is the time to play these games and i just cringe when i hear a 10 year old playing this game and cursing like he is 20.

this is why the esrb rating system exist to this day.

when im a mother one day do u think i would let my kids play gta or mk..nooo not even till they are mature. sure they might play it at their friends but thats not allowed in my house.

it's like this would u sell a 12 year old a alcohol drink or carton of cigarettes if he/she asked for it.

The ESRB is a recommendation/rule of base, not really a law. It was created with the whole Mortal Kombat being so graphic and bloody and blah blah blah, you understand where I'm coming from.

Personally, I do believe it's on the parent. If they feel their kid is responsible enough to play GTA, then so be it, if they're 13, 16, whatever. This is no different than having them watch a R rated film. If they are cursing, sure I'll kill em, but I will also mute them if I'm just not in the killing mood, it takes about 30 seconds to just pause then mute. The key things of note is learning between reality and fiction, controlling emotion while "losing," and basic social skills.

Plus, your alcohol and cigs comparison is not really a good one, as it would be very bad for the person selling, and bad parenting for a kid to be not educated by age 12 that those things are bad.

we are the parents now. our generation is the parents we have to start being more responsible when showing content to our kids and teach them from right and wrong.

we live in a different era than our parents and we were raise. they came from atari days and we came from snes days. now video games are getting more and more realistic its great but scary at the same time. virtual reality is around the Corner. imagine gta in vr and a 12 year old plays with no parental supervision.

again our generation have to take charge and think about the future which is our children and so on.

it makes me sad when i hear a kid say bleep u or f*g or n word. if the parents hear their kid dropping f bombs in front of them shouldnt they do something about it?

I understand that the esrb isn't a law but the parents is our generation shouldn't they know about it since they were or are gamers?

Well, it's not like me and you aren't aware of any problems, so what is wrong with education at a young age, but does that mean I can't let my kid play GTA in VR? No it shouldn't, though I would be more concerned with their physical health using a VR set first then their mental ability to comprehend the game. I should be able to trust my kid knowing my own experiences and build off my own mistakes and joys to give em an enjoyable childhood.

And the previous generation came from a more grittier time it seems like, a lot of them didn't have the advances of technology, nor the same access of knowledge. But it doesn't change them from knowing how to act like a good citizen.

that's is fine but there should be at least supervison. half of the time I wonder where is this kid parents is at when they start dropping f bombs. I mean they are literally yelling shouldn't the parents hear that their kid is saying racial slurs and profanity.

teach them from right and wrong while they are playing. there are other ways to educate kids with out showing a game or movie simply talking.

I would as well be concerned for their health as well their mentality. Im the parent so i should know if they are mature enough mentality if they can play a game like that.

that is true but what I hear online and behavior some are questionable if they will be a good citizen.

kids will be kids but we have to be there to show them right path to become good productive and active citizens.

Well, sure we can supervise them at first, but eventually they gave to grow up on their ow n. You cannot stop from words like that being said, you can only limit it, but it would be better off if you just let em know what's wrong or right. People suck, but none of that should matter to the individual.

If you hear kids cursing, don't just assume they have bad parents, sometimes they legit have a bad day/background that's difficult to shake off/etc. just mute them and let them be. You don't need to be concerned about them, only those close to you.

So by showing them right you bully them in an online game? That makes sense. 9/10 if I'm a lobby with what sounds like a kid it's the adults in the room who use a lot worse language then the child. It's rather sad to be honest to hear what are supposed to be mature adults telling little kids to f*ck off and die or talking about f*cking their moms.

Your intentions may be good but picking on a kid because you don't think they should be playing the same game as you isn't a very mature thing to do. It's not your place to tell someone else's kid what they can and can't do.

You ever stop to think that maybe that kid you are bullying online gets bullied IRL too and you are just lowering their self esteem even more. Maybe their parents beat them and gaming is their outlet but instead of letting them get away from their life you ruin that for them too.

Maybe their parents beat them and gaming is their outlet but instead of letting them get away from their life you ruin that for them too.

if the kid is rude then they deserve it and belive me there are rude kids online.

if the kid is bullied in irl that is sad and unfortunate but that is no excuse for rudeness to others.

If you can't smack them in the face for acting a fool give them a virtual face smack for acting a fool.

Since the discussion turned over to 'kids shouldn't even play GTA'...

I don't play in FR much and if I do, almost nobody uses a mic anyway, certainly not the younglings. But when I watch some Xbox video on YT with kids on mics, I just hear the same kind of stuff I hear when I pass any random group of kids IRL (I live right next to a school and a preschool so I hear all kinds of bullsh*t).

Which is to say, most 'kids' of today are dumb as bricks and curse like Russians when there's no vodka. I'd say someone like that can play whatever the hell they want, easily AO games and it won't make any difference.

On the other hand, you also have a chance to meet some actual good kids in the game who maybe have sh*tty parents that don't care about them, or are geeky/nerdy outcats with stupid friends, or just want to play in a rich sandbox environment like the rest of us. An online game like GTAO can be a great outlet for them and maybe you can help them out by getting them to meet normal people. IRL you'd probably be labelled a pedo, in the game anybody can be equal friends. Or equal assholes, it's up to everyone.

if i hear a high pitched voice in the lobby then its my duty to fix what the failed parent couldn't do with their children and show them gta isnt for them at that age

Do you not think it's rude to pick on someone solely based on the pitch of their voice? In your initial post you said just hearing a high pitched voice makes you show them GTA isn't for kids their age or something along those lines.

I got no problem teaching a kid a lesson if he is f*cking with me or other people but I don't go out of my way to mess with them just for playing.

I don't mind kids in game chat. Really I don't. What I do mind is the f*ckING YELLING they do. They constantly yell. Every time I hear one of them yell, I think "I'll give you something to yell about," and set a waypoint for them.

And "they may be bullied," yadda yadda yadda, six year olds and eight year olds (both of whom I've bumped into in game chat before) should not be playing this f*cking game. Period. Kids playing at 4 a.m. on a school night should not be playing this game. I still didn't target the 4 a.m. kid 'cause he was being decent in the game chat. But that yelling has to go, period.

Don't forget they often narrate every single thing they do and think they're the hottest sh*t on earth.

The irony of it is:

Kids think that if they have GTA, they are 'cool' because it's aimed at older audiences. They also think that older people will think of them as being 'cool' and will respect them because they are playing the game. In reality it's the opposite; no one legally old enough to play the game like the younger players.

to this day personally I havent met a kid who is quiet and polite online (maybe they don't have a mic or dont uses it) about 95% of the time the ones who are rude are the ones on the mic bragging that they got gta and if u dont like it bleep off...for that they get a shotgun to the face.

side note mostly the ones who are rude are boys i haven't met a girl who is a kid and rude online. maybe there is but i haven't met the person yet.

What I mainly have a problem with is minors playing alongside strangers / grown ass adults, when who knows what sick minded individuals are out there. I mean seriously, the amount of times I've walked into a session, heard a squeaker, took a look at their PSN name and realized they've used what appears to be their real first and second names, it floors me. I know a minority of kids could be considered somewhat mature and know how to protect themselves online, but the naivety of others far outweighs the sensible. Their parents obviously trust this game (and I guess you could say>) the internet in general way too much. Lazy, lazy idiots. I know it's stupid thinking you could bar everyone under the legal age of consent from the internet but Christ, people have gotta be careful out there.

But uh, yeah... OT, tbh, personally I've not heard anyone call a young'un 'kid' (as a derogatory statement) in a long time, people tend to refer to each other by the various colourful swears more often that not, heh :)

That's the irony of it all.

Bunch of 16-early 20's calling out on younger kids, when they didn't even get out of their diapers yet.

I called someone a kid earlier this week because they sent me a text calling me a "bitc"...all because I parked my Hydra beside them whilst in passive mode and idled.

Hilarious part though? Guy was offended I called him a kid and kept banging on that he was 28 years of age and kept asking where I was from. Pretty f*cking immature behaviour if you ask me...

Because gta is the new cod and mostly kids are playing gtaO

That's why I can't wait for Black Cops 3, that way most of them will go away.
