TGPomy
I recently got a new GTX 970 and GTA V for PC. I was playing through an early Franklin mission, and during one of the cutscenes the game suddenly froze, audio screeched, and the screen went black. This forced me to do a full/hard reboot, as my PC would not respond. What causes this? This has never happened with any other game I have. (Skyrim, BF4, Witcher 3, etc...)How do I prevent this from happening again?

TGPomy
I've also heard that GTA has a memory leak issue? I'm using a new SSD for OS, GTA V is on my HDD, though, if that matters. I highly doubt my CPU/GPU are a problem (since they work fine with ANY other game), but I'll check MSI Afterburner anyways.

It could just be a game crash, but I do suggest you check your CPU usage and HDD. Since the computer didnt turn off by itself I doubt it's temps, however you say it freezed and the audio screeched, sounds like High CPU and / or HDD usage. Aegrim
Does it ever sound like the game is playing the background still? I have a 970 and it does this
TGPomy
Does it ever sound like the game is playing the background still? I have a 970 and it does this That happened to me the first time. This more recent time everything just died on me and forced me to reset my PC. Rockstar needs to fix this memory leak issue causing these crashes. I see similar reports all over the forums and reddit. Guess I won't be playing GTA for a while until I know its fixed.
