Might switch to free aim really soon. Any tips on gun fights and aiming?

Antigenetic

Get used to holding down the fire button (R2 or RT) half way, it allows you to move pretty fast while still being able to shoot without the need for precision shooting (L2 or LT) the combat roll can be pretty useful when using this method too.

Take cover son

In Free Aim?

That's an excellent way to get shot.

Want me to show you what happens when you take cover? You would like it.

Get ready for explosives and miniguns.

I'm aware of that. Theres a lot of mini & explosives in auto aim too

Aim for the head.

Oh. I never knew thatspoken like an auto aimer.

It's a good tip. It's not as easy as assisted free aim.

Soran Is On

Your vehicle can become your best weapon. It's 100x harder to be shot out doing drive-by's.

Also, the sawn-off shotgun while riding a bike becomes rather effective when youre not auto-aimed to death from anywhere and everywhere.

Also, first person can be of great benefit. You by natural state have a more zoomed in view.

True, but not on a bike. If someone pulled out that mini gun you would be dead meat. Liked the video.

Go back into SP and fire up "Dead Man Walking" mission. Once you hop out of the window, the game auto saves that checkpoint and youre free to practice as long as you want with your wanted level staying on 3. Tons of cops to practice on with only 1 chopper in the sky. This is great for tweaking your sensitivity, acceleration and camera speed to something that works for you personally. Half pulling the firing trigger to strafe is a must aswell as using the sprint button to walk faster if you do aim over the shoulder. Tapping the R3 while pulling your left trigger will allow you to turn 180 easier than using the 3rd person camera aswell. I wouldnt suggest using cover unless absolutely necessary in PVP encounters. I aslo went back to using the "Simple" crosshair as its a bit easier to line up an enemies shoulders and drag across the head for an instant kill. Also, never strafe side to side. Theres a movement delay when you pull your stick the opposite way and thatll get you killed by anyone with some experience or skill.

Check out the Standard FPS2 config, It switches the sprint button to R1 instead of X so you can run and aim at the same time. It takes a bit of getting used to but it's effectively playing claw without the hand stress.

Turn Deadzone to Zero and Acceleration to Maximum on your controller settings.

A good starting point for Aim and Look Sensitivity is 50% for both. Just battle the cops in story mode as the poster above says and tweak away.

Playing pistol deathmatches with friends is a good one.

I wouldn't suggest maximum acceleration, personally. I feel much more precise with maximum sensitivity and very slight acceleration. It's all subjective though, there are no sensitivity or acceleration settings that are 100% factually the best. As someone else suggested, mess around with the settings and test them thoroughly.

You are more protected by gunfire in a car since people cannot auto lock

cant say the same for explosives

Since sniping is free aim regardless, there's no change here

aim for headshots since players are bullet sponges (if you already havent figured that out yet)

Watch good freeaim players on youtube and learn from them.

Id even suggest hanging out with free aim crews to get better too

The crosshair is in the middle of the screen so just look at what you want dead then fire. Sounds simple but once you perfect that killing becomes instinctive instead of having to think. You can even remove the crosshair in some games once you've perfected it so you have nothing on the screen to distract your eyes.

I'm not the best at it but my buddy that taught me that is insane at all shooters once he finds the sweet spot.

Joining free aim takes some getting used to but as someone that never plays auto aim IMO I find it much harder to get a headshot in auto aim because the crosshair is attracted to a lower section of the character.

A Heavy Snipers can be your best friend in free aim. Don't be an idle sniper either, you'll make it easy for players to pick you off so constantly move even when aiming/firing. Cover only really works with NPCs but players can get around cover so avoid using it too much (don't shy away from it, since ducking in cover can regenerate health faster than being in the standing position)

Aim for the head. Also, roll + strafe.

Free aim is good for PvP and FR but in missions/Heists, I need to do autoaim. They have terminator accuracy so it's only fair I can lock onto them.

Of course there are those people who can't kill without using explosives or minigun........ just like autoaim people :p

Add me: ajbns87

I will show you the light of free aim.

My advice, it's all about movement, learn to dance around the bullets, roll and aim quick. Sometimes you spray and pray, othertimes your enemies pray they don't die.
