How do you treat your characters while not in a mission?

I treat Michael with respect. He dies less than the other two, but he commits more crimes than Franklin, robbing stores and sh*t.

He is also the character i spend the most. (Weapons, properties and stuff.) He also likes to do properties mission, and he rarely meets interesting

strangers on the streets (Strangers and Freaks). He spends more time on Strip Clubs after his wife cheated on him, but he stopped when the

family reunited. He hangs out commonly with Franklin, and his son, Jimmy, his highest wanted level is 4 stars. His cars are supercars, that are frequently

used. He also owns a Hangar, a Dock, and a Helipad.

Michael = A cheating bad businessman.

Then, on Franklin, i treat him by doing some Gangster stuff, He killed more Ballas than the cops. He commits crimes commonly because of speeding (mod). He likes to race with other racers. He has the least weapons before the endgame, but has the most cars compared to the other two. He uses it commonly in races, and returns it in his home (due to Rockstar's obssesion with making cars disappear). He likes interesting strangers. He comes to the strip clubs not too often. He hangs out with Michael often.

Franklin = A gangsta style racer.

And then, the obviously the last one, Trevor. I treat him the most craziest. Without him, i wouldn't be commiting 5 stars wanted level. He likes to kill the Army, the Cops, the SWATs, and Peds. He always rampage ALL THE TIME. He is obsessed with interesting strangers. He almost doesn't go to the strip clubs. He hangs out with Michael rarely. His vehicles are tanks, offroads (like Canis Mesa, and Dubsta 6x6), fighters, and attack helicopters. He spends his money commonly on weapons and vehicles.

Trevor = A f*cking military spec psyhco.

I stopped playing these guys since I only do GTAO now. When I did the story I tended to choose Trevor when possible.

Michael is a dirty traitor with no honor, he will never get rid of that spot on his history. Despise him.

Franklin is probably the best of them, caring and loyal. He also is also most sensible, not a traitor or a maniac, but I just do not associate myself with him since he is black and I am not.

So it comes to Trevor, who is sincere, does not pretend to be someone else, a good friend and an awesome fighter. His only downside is the uncontrollable lust for murder, which I can not justify, but I can understand why he got it with a mother like that. So I play him and try not to kill for nothing.

Trevor Phillips. My favorite of the batch and the one who would go out and kill people for no reason. I love killing Lost as him

Be careful of what you say about fictional characters if they are a different race, the SJWs might bite your head off for it (what you said about Franklin yeah nothing racist but some twat might perceive it to be that) back on topic, yeah after I got the next gen version of gta, I didn't care to play that much with the characters but Trevor is my favorite because well he's f*cking crazy, Michael and Franklin are good as characters but I don't play as them that much nor do I use their abilities all that much.

I'm not racist at all. Never was. I did pause when writing that, remembering my time in the US, but then I thought why on earth should I be hypocritical about my personal preferences they do not hurt anybody. Like should Spetsnaz guys feel offended because I do not want to play as them in CoD?

This overhyped care no-to-mention-his/her-race just leads to people remembering they HAVE TO be non-racist instead of doing that naturally and willingly.

Well I only play GTAO now. ( played SP along time ago on 360). My character is pretty much a crash dummy. I love jumping off roofs and blowing my and my car up when i need to switch to another car. How ever I keep very nice threads on deck for him.

I play with Michael the most because I tend to identify and sympathize with his character more than the others. His back-story has the subliminal undertones of providing the perfect life for your family, but somehow it's still dysfunctional and everything but perfect. He kind of reminds me of Tony Soprano, especially since the opening scene is of him at the shrink's office.

With that said, Trevor is still my favorite character just because I think he's hilarious, and I admire his "I don't give a f*ck" attitude. I played with Franklin the least just because I found his dialogue a bit boring. Hell, Lamar was funnier and more entertaining than Franklin. In fact, Lamar should of been the third character, not Franklin. The dialogue would have been 100 times funnier between them three.

but I just do not associate myself with him since he is black and I am not.

I find it interesting that people cannot associate with black or female characters yet they have no problem associating with a mass-murdering sociopath.

I don't mean this in a bad way, I just find it curious. My primary GTAO character is a female and I often get very surprised reactions e.g. are you gay? are you drag? why would you play as a female when you're male?

I just don't get it. I'm not a bank robber, car jacker, killer IRL either, why nobody bats an eye over that obvious disconnect but playing a human of a slightly different physical attributes is odd?

Anyway I don't like either of the characters. They are all terrible. I find Franklin the only one somewhat tolerable which is why I had over 60% of the game time with him in SP when I finished the story. At least when I switch to him, he's not in his f*cking underwear or in the middle of the same argument with this wife he was 50 times before.

Killing people is just a game background shared by all characters, so it is not relevant.

When choosing your avatar you still will put into it some features, that you share, hope to share, would be interested to experience etc. Nothing wrong with female character btw, though reasons could be quite different. From watching a female ass while running around, to trying on another social role. So when choosing of these three chars you basically evaluate every feature on a number of aspects, how close that is to yourself and how much you like it among them.

Like "Franklin looks really nice, probably I would behave close to him, but he is black, and I just don't feel that is ME playing" -50 points. Trevor is honorable +20 points, and though he is a sociopath -30 points, his behavior is hilarious +2- points. Then you have the winner.

My online character is barbarian covered with tatoos, face painted, wearing only shorts. Do I need to say that is quite different from what you would really see? :)

I checked my Rockstar games social club account, and it's surprisingly Michael. I though I used Franklin the most do to the fact he had the most S&F missions, but I guess that Esplonist mission Boosted Micheal up.

Michael: 35%

Franklin: 34%

Trevor: 31%

That's the part I find curious. Franklin -50 points because he doesn't look like you, Trevor -30 points for being a sociopath.

Again, I'm not trying to attack you here in any way, don't take it that way. Anybody can play as whoever they want, I'm just curious about the motivations.

For me, I care about the quality of the character and while the obvious attributes (e.g. gender, looks, behavior traits) are obvious, they are secondary. I f*cking loved Kane & Lynch and its sociopathic anti-heroes. In fact Lynch is Trevor done right. Point is, I can play as anybody as long as the character is well done and the game is good. I used femshep in Mass Effect because the male voice actor is terrible, female in KOTOR because male models look like sh*t, tried to recreate myself in Saints Row II because that game contains a hat I wore at that time and picked my first char in GTAO pretty much at random and tweaked here and there.

If the game's character is fixed, then there's nothing to do of course, just hope the narrative is good.

Anyway my theory is that people generally don't play as characters that don't look like them simply out of habit. Since I mentioned ME, at first I also tried a male character because it felt odd to have a female universe-saving marine badass (I hate the female badass stereotype in media) but when I switched over so I my ears would stop bleeding, after a while it felt completely natural. It might be the same thing with other people trying to have characters that look like them by default - just a habit.

The habit of making a character look like me isn't something that applies to me because I can't be bothered with wasting hours upon hours trying to make someone look like me, when it comes to choosing to play as a male or female, at first I'll pick the generic white dude, then later on if the game allows me to I'll pick the female character but I'll usually just stick with my generic male character sure I'll change his features to make him stand out from the rest but not much else and I'm fine with that, I don't care if the guy I'm playing as is white while I'm Hispanic, I don't care if the stories main character is female (I actually like the female badass stereotype though I could probably guess good reasons why you don't like it) or a different race if they are written good like Joel from last of us or any of the gta v protagonists (I do like Trevor the most but their all good characters IMO) then that's good enough for me.
