"Run N Gun" playstyle ?

This is the only style I play. That's because I don't care how many times I get killed, I'm only after weapon tints or TDM MVP's or DM wins.

KD is not important, K is. I like to kill 100 times and die 99 better than kill 50 times and die 5 times. It just makes my stats better.

...but you play as you wish, I don't care.

Really interesting to see everyone's view point on this. If any of you are looking for a crew battle that dosent turn into a rpg, Lester spamming fest, it'd be great to receive a PM and perhaps we can link up. If you're just looking for a crew that dosent spam rpg's and Lester, etc. Then let me know because we are always looking for new members.

That's how I play. To me hiding on a roof or camping in one spot is not only boring but is playing the game like a coward. I'd rather have fun and die every so often then play the game like a bitch. I'll use cover every so often but I mainly just use it to regain my health or eat snacks I won't just stay and one spot and wait for people to come to me.

What's funny to me is most of the players I've come across who either hide on roofs or in one spot always act like they are skilled when in reality what they are doing is the least skillful aspect of a game that doesn't take much skill to begin with. If you insist on hiding then just admit that you need to use bitch tactics to get kills don't act like it takes takent

Lol, you said bitch and coward too often. You must be one yourself.

I'm a lot of things but I've never been a bitch or a coward in a game or in life.

I rarely play Dm's, but when I do, expect me to snipe from a safe camp roof with my BP helmet on.

Hate me all you want :)

Not surprised you would object to my adjectives describing your play style to a t.

I love the run & gunners, all you need to do is find a rooftop and play duck hunt with em, popping em off one at a time.

I've always been bad with the Run & Gun style. Since I've always prefered staying behind and pull out a sniper. I guess I've always liked being the support rather than rushing in. I shoot, then run to a different vantage point if I'm spotted, it's just so enjoyable to pick people off like their ants from a heigh point. I've gotten incredibly good at sniping and is now one of my go to guns for fending off freeroam killers. But, I'm not too shabby going up to the front lines and take my run at it. I never cared about the rules they set up and play my way, probably because I rarely get to play DM since I play free-aim so 99% of the invites I get are mission/heists. But there are rare occasions where there are public DM on free aim that are actually full and those are excellent for picking players off and everyone seems to have fun. I understandably know about the hate about BP helmets. They seem like cheap escapes to a clean kill but I usually allow it since a proper Heavy Sniper round can take 'em out in no time.

It's about 5 crews we've run into now. Very strange indeed. One of the thing's that makes auto-aim a fun change of pace, I personally feel, is because it adds a tactical element and by running into the open like "Rambo" you're usually as good as dead if the opposing team is decent. By insisting on auto-aim it essentially becomes a who see's who first, and then who rolls second. In free-aim this playstyle is almost mandatory i feel.. unless you're a sniper or a very reserved player.

Personally, my experience with free-aim deathmatches is mini guns and RPG's flying everywhere. And the guys, such as yourself, tactically sniping from afar. The amount of times i've rounded a corner, only to be smacked by a steady stream of mini gun ammunition while playing free-aim is way to many. I do enjoy the "Run N Gun" playstyle in free aim, simply because you feel like you have a chance to round a corner with being obliterated by a rocket, or wiped out by a mini gun.

It's not a crime to disagree with someone's play style, but calling names to players who play different is just sad imo.

I like to apply tactics I would use in real life, which means I try to survive as long as possible. I'm more happy with a k/D of 7/0 than 32/20 tbh.

Then again, as long as my daily challenges don't ask for a DM, I won't hurt you with my playstyle. ;)

I don't use the minigun ever, even though I own it. I have no purpose for using it. It feels kinda cheap. Firing that thing has heavy damage inducing bullets that fire rapidly.

The problem with this is, if you meet any experienced player over level 90, they will RPG off a corner ( and i cant blame them, people complain about RPG's but to me its about getting the kill). And to be honest if someone is on a corner, I RPG, thats better than me running up wide up to get auto aim killed. Taking cover is good against low level players, but against higher level players, you are wasting your time, you'll get RPG'd easily. Another tip, this a third-person shooter, not Call of duty(first person shooter). In first person shooter u need your aim sensitivity high, in third-person, you want it low and steady.

Dude i use it all, mini gun, RPG, automatic shotgun. People may call it cheap but i say to those people, if you are my level, you have the exact some guns I have, there is nothing I have that you dont have. I have met a rocket crew where I swear these guys, you could not even get near them, you are RPG'd before you even have a chance to think about your next move. I don't hate on them because of that, its a play style. It's just not logical to not use any advantage you have over another player. Don't matter if they are level 10, and you are level 230. Best believe, when I was level 10 back in the day and I ran into 100+ level players, they showed me no mercy, thats part of growing up on the game. I got mutilated, just like i mutilate low level players now, its just part of it.

Corner shooting is my biggest complaint in this game haha. i believe there is a happy medium, between RnG and spamming lester and RPG's, personally. And CvC's are very hard to get going, and it always ends in someone accusing of hacks, mods , or camping , or whatever they come up with. I agree with you SteveNYC

I know your comment is old, but RnG is surprisingly really enjoyable :)

i don`t think that. I play it all the time and I die aswell. I bet you are just a retarded level 100 with a clown facepaint.

It may be because I'm mostly doing PVE and rarely PVP,but I'm used to also using realistic combat tactics in PVP (using cover a lot, checking if it's safe to leave cover or is there any enemy waiting for me to jump out, only running out in the open if it's safe or necessary...) as opposed to running around shooting like Rambo. With the NPCs having perfect accuracy,I wouldn't survive two seconds fighting against them without a good strategy, and since I'm earning most of my money by playing missions and clubhouse contracts,I'd be very poor if I'd get killed all the time.

Misanthrope Z

"Run n Gun" always translates to "Spray n Pray" in my mind

everyone that i run into that asks me to do this is just another nerd that thinks going into first person mode, whipping out a marksman rifle, crabwalking at 50 MPH and holding down the trigger until they pop off a few lucky shots is the epitome of "skill"
.

just to piss them off, i always hire muggers, mercenaries, go off radar and murder these people. strafing dances are stupid and i refuse to partake in them.

in the off chance i'm ON the radar against one of these clowns, i have a rocket with their name on it :)

I exclusively play Cargobob-only deathmatches, so this isn't an issue for me

But... in all seriousness, GTA V isn't exactly a well-balanced or realistic game when it comes to foot combat (or combat in general, but I digress), so expecting anyone to stick to any rules not explicitly programmed into the game by the developers is only going to end in frustration. Use every tool and tactic available, and expect anyone else to do the same.

Learning to enjoy the anger and frustration of others who insist on sticking to such unwritten rules is optional, but helps the experience.

The most bizzare thing about this is that they insist on playing Auto-aim.

This playstyle is becoming more and more common as I play more deathmatches. People are 100% free to play this game anyway they wish, and I have no huge problem with it usually, as we can just leave the lobby, or decline the crew battle. But we honestly feel like it's gone to far at this point. The problem with this is how controlling this playstyle has become, and if you're not a "Run and Gun" connoisseur then you are ridiculed for not playing the game the way they want it to be played, to the very last detail.

In summary, this Run and Gun playstyle is making it difficult for crew battles to happen, as well as pushing the GTA:O community who play deathmatches on a regular basis, into even more separate directions.

First off, I'm fairly outspoken around these parts, but any players that insist on Auto-aim are f*cking idiots too lazy to adapt and practice to play Free Aim.

The gameplay mechanics of Assisted Aim, are seriously stupid, unenjoyable and unplayable. It's Roll Lock, Roll, Lock. It literally looks like a circus act. Play Free Aim is my advice.

Secondly, 'Run n Gun' is nothing new, it exists in Free Aim too. And those 'rules' sound very familiar. They originate from weak players that can't contemplate different ways of playing the game. No sniping....No rooftops .... cry cry cry.....It reminds me once, I was playing a Crew vs Crew, these guys insisted on no explosives (understandable in free aim due to the over powered nature) but as soon as I used a vehicle to flank them, they blew it up, claiming that vehicles weren't permitted either..... :facedesk: The Game is called Grand Theft Auto.... but too many retards think the A in GTA stands for Assault Rifle.

Lastly OP, if you're keen to play free aim, or crew battles. Get in touch, Look up 'Damned Brotherhood'. There's a reason we called ourselves 'Free Aim's fairest and finest' .

Good luck, and don't let the assisted aiming idiots ruin the game for you.

Tbh, the controls aren't setup like a proper shooter. Don't get me wrong, the game is as proper as it gets but pure shooter functionality is sacrificed so that you have access to vehicles and in-game menus/lists, all of which the gta universe absolutely needs.

Edit- I've been playing the crap outta BF1. It's the best shooter I've ever played. I'll be terribly upset if gta6 doesn't have realistic bullet drop, fully destructible levels and run at a perfect 60 fps. Am i asking for too much there?
