The game ran fine for me yesterday, but today I tried to start it and got the blurred police lights animation and then it just goes to a black screen and the game crashes. All drivers are up to date. Rockstar support just told me to make sure they were up to date and then stopped responding. I have verified the files through Steam and there were no issues. Game will not run in safe mode after crashing either. I have read tons of posts and guides about this issue but nothing found has helped at all. Did I just waste $60 on a game I now cant play?? To fix this issue, try: Running Windows in Safe Mode with Network Connectivity. For those with mobile GPUs, there is this fix from Reddit: "Open device manager, go to display adapters, and disable your nvidia device so only the intel card is enabled. After launching the game re-enable the nvidia card quickly. The game will then work. Seems like there's a compatibility problem with mobile nvidia cards." This also might help... DesiDog82 Posted June 4, 2015 Author Share Posted June 4, 2015 (edited) After about 7 crashes I got it past the loading animation with windows in safe mode. Game is running in a small window for some reason. Problem is I now am stuck at the "loading story mode" phase. the background pic and tips keep changing, but the game just never loads. I have a 2ghz AMD A8 with Radeon graphics and 8gb ram. This computer ran the game just fine before but just wont run it at all now. EDIT: literally just as I clicked post, the game loaded. Running at a whole .25fps if even that with floating car parts and sideways lamp posts. It seems that my video card drivers are not being properly loaded in safe mode...... I also have no audio in safe mode so i have no idea if that part of the game is working or not. While typing this edit, the game crashed again. DesiDog82 Posted June 4, 2015 Author Share Posted June 4, 2015 Problem solved I found the solution in a post in this thread: http://gtaforums.com/topic/796796-gta-5-on-pc-crashes-at-startup/ The program UNIFIED REMOTE causes the game to crash on startup. No idea why it let me run it one day but not the next, but uninstalling unified remote allows the game to run normally. Even Rockstar is apparently unaware of this.
