Was the Prison Break Heist poorly set up?

That said, for all the broken logic of online heists, nothing beats the one in single player:

"The four of us can't fight the country cops. I know, let's send one guy alone to hijack an armed military convoy just outside the base to steal the heavy weaponry first."

The convoy is relatively small 2 crusaders and a barracks 8 or so guys to kill and its nowhere near zancudo. Its all the way in sandy shores. The military response would be too slow

The getaway part is even better:

Just hop on a train that is arriving in a very convenient time, don't matter how many cops saw your crew boarding the train, they won't care about stopping and searching the all cars from the train.

Also, the train was going to Los Santos, but somehow the crew jumps out of it at Sandy Shores...

if we could do heists the way we wanted, say, by using our own methods, pegasus vehicles, mechanic etc, they wouldnt be able to say they gave us such and such hours worth of gameplay and more people would question what took so long. remember when they said they were spending their time "polishing" heists? I cant tell you how many times eddie toh showed up WITHOUT THE MAGNET on the cargobob and left me holding my dick. keeping in mind I could escape a 3 star wanted level on my own

When I played the SP, I got to the convoy just outside the base, you can hijack it on any spot of its route.

But my point is that you're supposed to deal with trained military personnel, alone, because a group of 4 can't handle some country cops. If anything it highlights how ridiculous the cops in the game are since that looked like a better option :p

The main thing that didn't make sense was the introduction of the 5 seater velum. In the heist, the pilot, prisoner, prison officer and rashkovsky are the ones that get in the plane whilst demolitions protects them and picks them up. So why is there five seats?

Hey kids, you too can buy the new slow plane from the heist you can't pass because Robert got grounded and only he knows how to fly planes well BUY KASH KERDS.

Also, you need demo flying in the heli to get rid of the police helicopters that are just as fast as the plane is.

I'm still wrapping my brain around using an armored car and a cargo bob for a small bank in the sticks, but only using 4 mediocre motorcycles for the flagship bank in the city.

Here's the thing besides Fleeca and Series A (in a sense) alot of the heists suffer from not having two approaches like in the single player. Because especially for the Prison Break it seems like you're going for a stealth approach so you're not prepared for when it turns into a "load" approach.

This annoys me because if I could I would've spent less effort on stealing a velum and a prison bus and more on acquiring an armored vehicle of sorts and maybe finding a way to smuggle raskovshy out of the country. At least that way I'd be expecting things to go to sh*t but then I would have the tools to deal with the situation.

These are problems that are persisted throughout all the heists. Alot of why are we doing this instead of this sort of situations.

The entire update was poorly set up. We waited almost 2 years for a string of contact missions with ungodly loading times and annoying as f*ck monologues. Excuse me lester, and FIB guy, im trying to listen to Convoy, please shut the f*ck up.

Honestly, none of this bothers me more than the fact that there is no setup mission for the Buzzard.

It's technically not one of the heist vehicles...

It's just... Luck that it's nearby...

For pete's sake, you use it as the final getaway vehicle. What if Merryweather hadn't parked a practically unguarded attack chopper right by Sandy Shores...?

I also found it rather odd in the setup where you get the bus schedule from the police station. I mean look at how most people do it, you get the cops to come to you in a patrol car either by causing some havoc or putting in a 911 call. Then when they show up you kill them and inevitably put some bullet holes in the patrol car, maybe some blood on it, and I mean cops being cops you can bet they probably have like a code number for that car and will have told control they are responding to something and they'll know who the officers are. And if you kill them you get a wanted level you have to evade the police, so a chase ensues. So then like 10 minutes after two known officers in a known car responding to an incident get wasted and their car gets stolen and chased, the car just rocks up at the station with two random police officers and no-one bats an eyelid? Riiiiight...

I don't necessarily think it's badly designed, I think people just follow the instructions too literally.. (aside from the occassional can't lose the police in the plane bug...)

I've always thought one of the best things to do would be to land the plane literally outside the prison, especially if the buzzard's cleared all the feds.. but trying to explain that to people is a pain...

That and explaining to people that the prison officer, prisoner and demo are best to all go in one car to the moving bus, then have them split after that point...

As for the police set up, I'm sure you can get the police out the car without killng them, specially if you phone 911... or you could just have one person take the stars, have the other person steal the car when they're getting chased and then pick up the other player, drive round and lose the stars.. no cop deaths..

Were talking about GTA V here.... There is no such thing as logic. It's all illogical.

Rockstar has the sh*ttiest writers on the planet, not to mention bad script writers.

That's a problem across the gaming industry. The majority of games are at least as sloppily written as GTA, if not more so. Most of them are written by developers, not professional writers, and it shows.

I'm pretty sure that they hire on newly graduated script writers to save a few bucks from having to pay an additional amount on an experienced script writer. Some of the stuffs I see in this game has got to come from a novice script writer. It can't possibly come from an experience one.

Why do we break into the humane labs to plant an insurgent, kill everyone and yet the lab isnt put on any higher alert til you break in the 2nd time and they dont inspect the insurgent even though there are cameras everywhere and they'd see us using it.

The cameras are hacked from the outset, which is how you're able to see where the guards are before going in. Presumably they are either turned off or made to show a generic tape loop (i.e. the trick used in the movie Speed) while you're in there doing your thing.

As for the place being on high alert... meh, this is Los Santos. I slaughter everybody at the Humane Labs facility at least once a week! :)

There is a lot of flaky logic in the heists, to be sure. I just don't see it as a big deal. Basically all video games have very thin stories that are just meant to get you from one exciting set piece to another.

"The four of us can't fight the country cops. I know, let's send one guy alone to hijack an armed military convoy just outside the base to steal the heavy weaponry first."

What about the one where you steal a garbage truck just to drive it to an alley way and then everybody just stands there like sitting ducks while half of the LSPD absolutely overrun the entire area. You have little to no cover and then you're forced to switch to Trevor who is at a completely useless "vantage" point with a sniper rifle.

Then after that, Franklin has to drive the garbage truck (by himself!) to a "getaway" car that he has previously acquired and hidden at a random location on the map, just so he can then drive back up to Sandy Shores (I think?) and reunite with everybody else, who have all made their own way there. What the f*ck.

Even the second time I did that heist, I forgot where it all went down so I was no wiser in my selection of parking spots for my getaway car. Furthermore, I like to stash it in an underground parking lot which caused problems due to the fact that the garbage truck was too big to drive down there! Luckily however, I was able to initiate the checkpoint, sort of through the wall from the outside.

The weird part is that my getaway car (a blacked out Oracle 1) was back at that location during free roam post-heist.

Oh man, you're so right. The single player heists were restrictive enough but online, the "leader's" control is essentially limited to who the pilot is. Everybody else generally has the same job.

It would be so much sweeter if the set-up missions involved actual decision making, i.e. planting getaway vehicles and sourcing weapons/equipment in a way that each member carried out those tasks independently and were exclusively responsible for their performance. Then the leader could divide the cut based on how well each member actually contributed.

But instead, we have a series of arbitrary hoops to jump through which the leader has no control over - in other words, the set-up missions are essentially a free-for-all and whoever has the fastest car will get to the objective first and win the platinum award. Those awards kinda highlight the fact that in most cases they are sending 4 players on 1-2 man jobs. There are regular missions that are more elaborate than some heist set-ups, most of which are all 1 player missions!!!

Not only that, but the manner in which the set-ups and finales are detached from one-another means that absolutely zero commitment is required so there is no encouragement for players to see a heist through from start to finish. Anybody can easily hop around lobbies looking for invites to finales which is where the real money is made.

And yeah, I've had the cargobob show up without the magnet before too... wtf.

why can't I just use a kuruma?

ram the gates, ram the guards, get the guy then leave, 3 hydras kill the cops, drop him next to the plane, kill cops in a tank for a few minutes then mission complete.

I dunno why we can't just land the buzzard in the prison when the ground team finally gets to rash.

oh yeah, homing missiles, because every state penitentiary are equipped with them.

Agree. Specially the f*cking annoying jokes from Lester, Agent 14 or whatever we get at every f*cking setup.

Not even a alternate dialog like it is at single player, just the same old and boring dialog!

God I wish there was a way to just cut all the NPC dialog altogether sometimes...

Certainly the Heist I am LEAST LIKELY to join.

I don't mind the setups. Plane, Bus, Wet Work all really easy but I've seen people fail Station too many times to count.

But the Heist?

Awful.

Let's start with the glitches!

- Dreaded "wanted level" glitch

- "Didn't destroy bus" glitch even though you're standing right next to the damn thing

- Stuck on cut scene glitch (this has happened to me personally multiple times, playing as Prisoner, when you get to Rashkovsky, it freezes)

- Twice I've seen Rashkovsky not get into the escape plan.

That's four pieces of hell right there.

Now let's talk about failure!

- Airplane Guy who manages to get shot down by the slowest least accurate Jet pilots ever

- Demolitions guy who can't hijack a bus, can't figure out how to get to the Sandy Shores landing strip, can't manage to shoot down any jets, often crashes, killing themselves and ruining Heist

- Cop Guy who does nothing and expects Prisoner to do most of the shooting while they, with full weapons and armor, take cover and blind fire

- Prisoner who gets killed over and over and over

I truly hate the way this is set up what with the glitches and ease with which you can fail simply by being on the wrong crew.

what's the logic in slaughtering a wave of SWAT through the entire prison when we can just go back the way we came?

Another completely useless setup is Deliver EMP from Humane Labs Raid

In the actual heist, if you're in the helicopter when the EMP goes off, you see the lights of the entire map, from Blaine county all the way to Los Santos go out

If the EMP is powerful enough to shut down all of San Andreas, why do you need to get it inside the lab?

Further flaws with said heist is that, if an EMP set off every electronic device in San Andreas, why didn't the military get involved? Surely it would be classed as an act of Terrorism
