Was the Prison Break Heist poorly set up?

I know it's been almost 3 months since heists were released (can you believe it's been that long?), but a couple of things have bothered me about the Prsion Break heist in particular. What's the point of stealing a bus and pretending to be a prison gaurd and inmate if the gaurds shoot you regardless? We calmly walk to the objective and the last guard is always a super detective saying "I'm on to you" and "don't take another step". How we're supposed to be discreet is beyond me. Next thing is Rashcovski, once we reach him, what's the logic in slaughtering a wave of SWAT through the entire prison when we can just go back the way we came? Sorry if I'm ranting, what's your opinion on how the Prison Break heist's set up?

This is what has been bothering me more: why do you need to steal a bus in the 'Bus' setup, when you're gonna steal another bus in the finale anyway? You could just hijack that second one and use it to sneak into the prison without needing to fiddle with one before.

Also, when you steal the bus in the finale (as demolition), there's no inmate inside although the prison is expecting an arrival apparently.

Oh yea the biggest kicker: as demo, you can fail the heist if you destroy the bus, even though that's your objective.

And wouldn't it be kinda odd for the bus geolocator to go silent at the airport, just for another bus to show up? Heck if the demo isn't hurrying, they may destroy the bus only after the ground team gets into the prison. So, two buses. Maybe THAT'S why the prison guards are onto you! The whole plan was stupid.

I guess, if you went back the way you came, you'd either be killed turning the bus around as it will be a 15 point turn, and if you get to the gates, they probably wouldn't let you out.

Lots of things wrong with several heists or setups, which appalls me considering the time spent developing them.

I think the demolition person is stealing and destroying the bus thats on the way to the prison. The prisoner and prison officer are taking the prison bus stolen in the 2nd set up mission. The gaurd at the entrance thinks the prison bus is the one the demolition person stole.

Flex exactly, why not just hijack the bus that's on the way to the prison, put the fake prison guard and prisoner inside and drive to the prison? No need to steal a bus beforehand.

I mean, the plan to use a bus to get to the prison at the same time when they are expecting a new inmate was there from the beginning, so why not just plan for that.

Stealing a bus before diverting the second one actually makes perfect sense. The first bus you stole would be fixed up to look like a normal bus. If you tried to use the second bus, it would likely be shot up in the process of stealing it, and that would tip the guards at the gate...you'd never get in.

As for the second part...the plans is "supposed to work". It doesn't, so all hell breaks loose. You're looking at the heist in hindsight.

They're not expecting an arrival, just the bus itself.

The stolen bus you drive to the prison is ought to be banged up and maybe shot up regardless. All it would take is to set up the bus stealing scenario differently (i.e. need to get the bus without killing the driver).

It could be better, only problem I have now is that last night on our way back to LS at the cut scene "Heist Failed" -_-;

That's why I'm saying the idea of the first bus is they can fix it so it wouldn't stand out. Your scenario would have worked fine, but they didn't go that way. It doesn't mean the way they have it doesn't make sense.

No, I mean the bus will get banged up by the ground team driving it from the Sandy Shores yard to the prison.

Btw INB4 "it's a video game, don't over think it, story doesn't matter, just shoot everything, all heists are stupid anyway, only freeroam matters" etc.

Don't forget, the order is only "the order" when doing CM or the All In Order challenges...otherwise, you can do a lot of setups in different orders.

It really shouldn't, though...I mean, you're right on the road and it's, what, less than half a mile? Even at that, it wouldn't have bullet holes in it.

What about the sally port when you leave the prison?

Both gates would never be open at the same time...

Why would the air force send jets to take down the craft? The smuggling aircraft is way too slow for the jets to turn around and fire at, haven't they heard of the DB Cooper hijacking incident?

Were talking about GTA V here.... There is no such thing as logic. It's all illogical.

Rockstar has the sh*ttiest writers on the planet, not to mention bad script writers.

This is the biggest flaw of all and overlooked by OP. That "set-up" mission is a complete and utter waste of time.

The beginning of the actual prison break is also ridiculous if it's not even possible to remain undetected.

That's a problem across the gaming industry. The majority of games are at least as sloppily written as GTA, if not more so. Most of them are written by developers, not professional writers, and it shows.

I've also wondered why they couldn't just allow a 5th person on the Buzzard and just fly it instead.

Most of the heists and setups are poorly thought out and don't make much sense. The prison one is the worst in terms of logic and effort. Why do we break into the humane labs to plant an insurgent, kill everyone and yet the lab isnt put on any higher alert til you break in the 2nd time and they dont inspect the insurgent even though there are cameras everywhere and they'd see us using it. The setups and heists are just busy work like driving almost the whole map distance to get to the start point. In the way of logic there's very little that make any sense.

At least for the Prison Break you can say that you need a clean bus.

I don't think I'll ever understand why we need to break into Humane Labs twice. Why don't we just send in two guys with the Insurgent (since clearing the guards in Deliver EMP can be a one-man job) while the other two bring the Valkyrie? The Agent's explanation amounts to "cuz I said so" and leaves it at that. I don't even accept the whole 'stealth insertion' on Deliver - what, Merryweather will show up and not find the trail of bodies leading up to the rigged Insurgent (with the ever-so-clandestine EMP blazing away in the back)? It seems to me that mission was once one and got split up to pad out the setups.

Then there's the bikes on Pac Standard...

Yeah, fully agree that R* went for the cinematic experience at the cost of needless over-complication.

I don't even understand why you need a pilot in the Velum
RASHKOVSKY CAN FLY!
Put all the players in the Buzzard and scort the prisioner to safety, no need to worry about that f*cking cop glitch...

That said, for all the broken logic of online heists, nothing beats the one in single player:

"The four of us can't fight the country cops. I know, let's send one guy alone to hijack an armed military convoy just outside the base to steal the heavy weaponry first."
