so...I've been playing this game since launch and to be honest just never really been into the racing thing...just not really all that good at it I'll admit. But lately I've been playing some races & have been having some fun so I wanted to try to get a little better in that. Granted, i do really like the GTA races b/c I like making explosions.

Please post the races here that you think I might like (PS3).

So..what racing tips would you have for a level 190+ "newbie" with regards to racing? Post them here.

A couple of points:

1) I hate starting at the front b/c everyone is going to try to PIT you right off the bat. I do know some techniques for trying to avoid the PIT but they don't always work.

2) Non-contact races suck (a.k.a. BORING)

3) I like racing with traffic ON usually b/c it add another element to things.

Dr Labuschagne

All I can say is

Brake when necessary

Deceleration is key to not overseer

Power Slide/Drift and showboat at your own risk

Don't tailgate. Leave at least a second or half in front of the car while slipstreaming

Calm down when your out of the crowd. And wait for the right moment. If you can't find a way to pass on the car in front of you, Stay on them, they'll mostly crack and screw up. Make sure you aren't close enough to when they do

Use Apex cornering, Curbs are excellent for using them as Rumble strips to size up the corner

However in a 180. Turn hold your handbrake. It would be pointless to brake.

During driving

Learn the Scandinavian flick and power sliding responsibly. It helps in when being chased not lose too much speed after cornering

O.P.D.E: Observe Predict Decide and Execute. Also useful both races and Driving

Calm down

Don't Talk to much, while driving

Before entering a race take the car you have a high probability of competing in. Take it out for a spin, drive as fast a you can and try not to crash.

*Practice, Practice, Practice...

You can set it so you can aim while driving in the settings. Change "drive by" from "fire" to "Aim + fire" now you can aim with L1 and shoot with R1. (While still holding L1). You might perfer this over not being able to aim in GTA races. Also aim for the tyres. If they aint bulletproof they will either have a hard time spining out or be forsced to respawn to get their tyres inflated again.
